1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you ever just... want to sell them all?

Jun 23, 2022

    1. This sounds like a very logical answer to the question. It's a way to sort of distance yourself from the hobby and see if it's truly something you want to continue pursuing or if you are growing out of it. Maybe it's a little deeper than trying to help fund the purchase of a new doll. In reality, you might just be excited about the thought, the hunt, the thrill, the anticipation of getting a new one but then in reality once you get it that feeling dissipates relatively fast. We all get that way with any purchase we make. It's a small dopamine hit. It's possible that you are also reluctant to sell them BECAUSE you know they are rare dolls, but not necessarily because you want them anymore.

In the end, only you can decide what you truly want from this hobby. If it's to continue pursuing it and maybe just update your collection or if you're possibly moving on from it. Then there's people like me. I have many different interests and hobbies that I can't stick with one for too long before getting tired of it and moving on for a while. I end up coming back to it, but it's usually inevitable that I will get bored of it for a while at some point.

    2. THanks!

Yeah in my case it's changing circumstances. I am now very physically disabled, and the biggest dolls are difficult for me to wrangle. I love my SDs but I just don't have time space or energy to have a collection any bigger than it already is. We're at capacity here, and my intentions and goals for the dolls are changing. I sew a lot more and Photoshoot WAAAY less, since photoshooting is much more physical. If I downsize a little I'll be able to enjoy more of my dolls, more of the time, without necessarily losing some of the rare faces I love.

    3. That makes sense. I for one then encourage you to do whatever you feel is right for you and your situation. If you truly love them though, I would definitely try to find a way to maybe downsize in other areas of your life that you may not be as interested in. I noticed you made mention of your sewing habits. You could always start making clothing for dolls and selling them on Etsy. That would be a good way to earn some extra disposable income and you wouldn't have to sell off your dolls!

    4. Not all of them but a few yes. I have two Doll Chateau s, a Volks and a Fairyland that I have never listed and probably never will. My house is small and sometimes I do get overwhelmed. I also get tired of miscalculating sizes for wigs, eyes, patterns... everything costs money. I often tell myself I'll buy beautiful pots for plants but then I see another doll. I just ordered a Fairyland head.
