1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you ever name the dolls on your dolly wishlist?

May 31, 2013

    1. I do think about their names and characters. I have two definitely figured out at the moment, the others I'm still thinking about. One girl just wouldn't settle on a name until I had her all put together, though.

Edit: the two girls I'm waiting for are Cécile (Souldoll Hye) and Mietta (Supia Nael)

    2. The ones I'm 95% sure I'm going to get usually end up with names, even if I decide against getting them at a later date. I just like having the character in mind for them if I do decide to make the purchase. Makes deciding on wigs and eyes easier if I have a name to work with.

    3. Oh yes.If I have a planned/preorder purchase, the name usually is front and center. For the impulse buys it may take longer, but I usually have a couple of alternatives before the doll arrives. When they arrive they usually know their own names and shout it out

    4. Yes, I'm guilty of this. Many of the dolls I want are for certain characters so they already have names.

    5. I... can't, actually. They name themselves when they arrive > <

    6. I have an absolutely terrible habit of naming dolls before i even click on the picture, i'll see the cute little face and a name will just insta-pop into my head...the only bad thing is that they are usually ridiculous names like "Jelly belly" or " Kurt Von Destroyer"

    7. I do, but only when a name just comes to me. But then half the time they get here and demand to be named something else, but I figure it's worth a try! My latest doll arrived and not only renamed herself, but another one of my dolls too!

    8. Most of the dolls on my wish list have names because they are existing characters that I want to make dolls out of. Other times I find a doll I like and create a character for it. In that case sometimes I think of a name for them and sometimes I don't. I have several un-named dolls on my wish list because names are hard, at least for me :P.

I like having a name figured out by the time I'm waiting for my doll to arrive because then I can talk about them using their name and it feels like I start to bond with them before they even get here. I wonder if any one else does this.

    9. A few yes. My wishlist is very limited. Don't see myself getting too many more. So giving them personalities and names before I get them encourages me.

    10. /facepalm double post

    11. Yes, I do. If I have a character for the sculpt that is. Even dolls I won't get for a long time I tend to name anyway.

    12. I think about names, got 100 suggestions and keep 3. and when I see my new doll I see which name fits her/him

    13. My wishlist is very short, since my wish dolls of all have only two; IOS Lacrimosa and Volks Okita Souji (the third one; SSDF Avalanche romance ver. ...I've bought him already and now am waiting him to arrive. I've already named him ADELAR) which I think I will never get because I don't think someone will give up on them either. I would like to name a cool name but...feel sadder when I realize that I will never obtain...So just call them by their original name must be better for me after all.

    14. Yes, for most of them. At least for my "priority purchases". The ones that don't have name, I'm generally not too sure about them, and since I know I won't get them before long, I don't bother really much on wanting to find their names. I know that if I'll get them, they'll have names, and that's enough for me.

    15. Yes, because dolls only end up on my wish list when I seriously consider buying them - and that means I need to have the money, or at least know that I'm going to have the money (meaning an upcoming birthday, a job paying well enough, another doll sold...) in near future. My dolls are mainly based on existing characters so they have names way before I decide on doll molds for them. I seem to have slipped some, though, because of the five I have, two are simply cute things and three "belong to the story", whoops. :D But yes, my dolls mostly get their names before I order them and always before arriving.

    16. I named my dolly before I even ordered her :-) her Godum picked the name out, and I liked it

    17. Yes! It's like a fun activity I can do while I wait--thinking up names. I also just like for my dolls to have names right off the bat. Like the character already exists and I'm welcoming him/her home. And of course, since it's just a doll I can always change the name if it's not fitting once the doll arrives. ^^

    18. Yes! I only name the dolls I -must- have, though.

    19. Gives a doll named. But as time passes, forgotten.

    20. I do this all the time. In fact, they often don't end up getting bought if I don't have a name and character in mind for them already. There are exceptions, of course, and sometimes I get a doll and it just won't work for what I had in mind. But most of the time I have a good idea of what I want to do and already have a name set long before they make it home.
