1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you ever name the dolls on your dolly wishlist?

May 31, 2013

    1. Yes, I named most of my dolls before I bought them. Sometimes I change them later though.

    2. The first one I get I'm naming Charlie (Charlotte), unless when I receive her she's not a Charlie.

    3. Yes! Sometimes the name comes first and I find a doll to suit it. Other times, I use the name to craft the character, so even if I don't have her in person, she lives within my mind. Nothing truly lives until it has a name.

      DC Christina--> Camilla or Elisabeth
      DC Alberta--> Tarja or Virna

    4. So far I've just been naming the dolls their model names. Then again a friend named my cat and there were several days of "dog" before I had to pick something to license the creature in my house that the shelter said was a dog.

    5. I also name dolls on my wish list as I usually only have a wish list for pre-existing characters.
      Iplehouse SID Zera- Wren
      Supia Haeun - Sabine
      Iplehouse KID Lonnie - Grace

    6. I did have a doll who didn't like her name once, She was my first doll and she insisted on rejecting her character and name so Clair is now Indy!

    7. The doll I want the most is named, because I actually decided on her as a character I used to RP as (oh boy, Harry Potter post-by-post days). The second choices are not named yet, but I have some ideas based on who I end up getting!

    8. I do! I don't think I could ever have a doll that doesn't have a personality, so I like to come up with strange names...it hurts when I thought I came up with a unique name but I see another doll that has it,so I end up changing it again DX

    9. (I hope I haven't answered this and forgotten, ha...)

Since I tend to collect based on characters who already exist, aside from a few exceptions, the dolls on my wishlist are named. I have a terrible habit of shifting priorities between them based on what project I'm most involved in, too... (then again, my doll fund keeps emptying out to pay for 'real life' anyway, so)

It motivates me more, though, when I know I'm saving to bring home a body for someone who means something to me. Every so often I just love a doll because it's cute/beautiful, and if a character doesn't spring to mind, then they probably won't have a name until whatever far-flung day I may acquire them on. But the ones who have names and characters are the ones I find myself actually working to want to bring home.

    10. Since I'm not basing my BJDs on already existing original characters (at least not now) I don't usually already name them.
I wanna wait to see them in person and build their character and all before settling on a name because my character names have to just fit perfectly, I'm peculiar about this haha.

I do however already play with possible names for dolls that I know I will definitely get 'soon'. I try to imagine what kinda character they'll be and what names would fit them with the outfits and image I plan on giving them. I wouldn't announce those names though until I am 100% sure (not a fan of renaming characters).

    11. This is interesting! For me the names come when they're with me, so no, not before that. Their personalities (or characters if you will) are mostly done when they get to me, and at that point I usually have a couple of names ready to choose from. Then I look at the doll, then the list of names, then back to the doll and decide that way which name fits best. It's kind of like it is with people, different names fit different looks.

    12. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Often, I like to meet the new guy at the door & learn who he is after he gets here. But sometimes, when I fall in love with a doll, his name comes to me as soon as I decide that he's a character who eventually needs to be here. The name attaches itself to his face, and I stop referring to the doll by his sculpt name. ^^ More often, I have a short-list of names prepared for that doll when I buy him, and then when he gets home I finish the decision.

I only have one doll remaining on my probably-will-never-find wishlist, and he's got a name already. :3 It'll stay secret until I find him though.

    13. I just named another MP doll. She's my(not actually mine, I'm not the seller and I probably won't be able to buy her) little Hive... Hive, I miss you and I've never even held you! So pretty <3 I think this is becoming a thing with me. Naming MP dolls, that is.

    14. I do D: I named all my dolls so far while they were still on my wishlist, but one.
I think giving them a name is one of the best parts of getting a new doll, and it makes me even more excited, all the planning for when they are finally mine ^^

    15. sometimes they do! some times they dont...my newest addition is named ninon and she's yet to arrive

    16. A few! I actually have my wishlist separated into dolls I have names/characters for and dolls that I don't have anything for.

    17. I am so guilty of doing this very often :sweat

ID sense circus Le - Zephyr
      BY Olive - Eion
Soom Puss in Boots - Chronus
      Sseiren Gemma - Mirrol

Sometimes I'll be browsing through dolls and I'll see a sculpt I like and think "I'd name him this, and this would be what his character is like"

    18. I do XDD all my dolls are shells for my OC's so my doll wishlist are usually potential characters ^_^

    19. Not at all. Most doll names come when they are actually ordered / at home and I have time to think.
The one currently on my wishlist is an OC, so he already has a name.

    20. I'm currently on a mission to order my first doll, which is my only OC - Sage. So technically I've already named it and am looking for a doll that just feels right, if that makes sense.
I was looking at a DZ Carter because I liked the head, though I'm really tempted to go for a DC Austin (which I haven't seen much of him around) because DCs are so beautiful.
