1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you ever name the dolls on your dolly wishlist?

May 31, 2013

    1. I can only name my dolls when I see them with their eyes and a wig. Then they became alive and need a name.

    2. Des pick out out a doll for a char count? Most of my chars I'm really attached to I've found sculpts for. So I guess so, just in a backward way.

    3. The dolls on my wishlist do have names because I have worked on a character for them.Only two times the name I had picked out for a doll did not workout. Then had to wait for them to tell me something so I can think of a name that suits them. In this hobby I've learn actually having the doll and dreaming about the doll are two different things.

    4. Yeah :D I thought of this character for a while and her name is Caterina- Lillycat manon:), and currently her companion/guardian Larina- Orange tea dolls Violka and in human form Lyse :aheartbea. Their story and journey is something I am very passionate about and have been for years, but it is too long for this post to explain everything. :sweat Also i forgot to put Caterina's soulmate Birger.. don't know which sculpt to chose for him, because he has a specific look to him in my mind and a dollshe saint would be too tall, even though he is supposed to be taller anway.. .):aheartbea

    5. Considering I'm picking out sculpts that match a character I need to shell, of course. Always. Also, when I see a sculpt & just love it to pieces even tho it doesn't fit for any characters I have, well I just create one - BEFORE I get the doll.
Because I have no need for dolls that don't fit into my ongoing dollie storyline.

    6. No... I haven't even decided on the name of my first doll that should be arriving in the next couple of weeks! x)

    7. I have named a few dolls that were on my dolly wish list. If I ever purchase a Fairyland Juri 2008 I will name her Grace because I've been looking for her for so long.

    8. I have 4 dolls and i find it so hard to name them and actually stick to them. Which is so annoying as there so beautiful and deserve names that suit them :/ Only one has stuck and her name is Ash and her name has a sad story behind her but she is the most deserving of that name.

    9. My characters exist before the dolls do, so they're named already. I definitely think names and characters can change though. My little Yu has a name, but I'm not 100% sure until I see her, which should be this week! :D

    10. I haven't named any of my dolls on my wishlist yet. I don't think I'll be able to name them until I see them in person. Kind of like, they'll make up their own character when I have them at home. :)

    11. I always have to name my dolls before I get them.. often WELL before. It's hard for me to bond with a doll if I don't know who it is. :p

    12. YES! OMG YESS!
      I don't have a bjd yet buuttttt:
      'The main wishlist'
      Luts kdf Ani- Ayano Ningyo
      Luts S65D Dion- Jiro Ningyo
Luts S65D Carmine- Ren (real name Ryu SaeRyun)
      Luts S65D Ginger- Hisoka Ningyo
Luts S65D Gray- Haiiro (real name Akimitsu Tsukino, just don't tell him I told you.)
Luts Senior delf Nihal- Saburo Ningyo
Angell-Studios Xi Shi- Sun (real name Roe Seon-hwa)

They also all have full personal profiles, *whistles*. dum dee dum.....

I also plan on making more for the other prominent bjd's on my wishlist. They will all have one probably in the end, so I know who they are as a person before I get them (which is what I like to do). Though, for now I'm just going to stick with my main 7 so I don't get too attached to any of the other dolls on my wishlist -_-.

    13. Most of my wishlist is actually made up of specific characters I want to shell. Really, right now the only exception to that is DollClans Vezeto, who has the bare beginnings of a potential character, but nothing approaching a name or even a design! Sometimes dolls come my way unexpectedly, and then I come up with a name on the spot (Amelia was a prize from a BJD cosplay contest and Lyra was a gift from my friends ♥), but 99% of the time I know exactly who I'm looking for.

    14. It depends. I don't always keep my wishlist updated cause I tend to delete some molds even if I still want them cause I don't want to remember how many dolls I already want when I only have one, haaaaaah... :nowords:

But yeah! There are a few dolls that I want that already have a name!

      Ringdoll DiYue will be Julien.
Little Monica Reynell will be Noèlle.
      Dollmore Sona will be Silén.
      Ringdoll Raymond will be Aaron.

But that's because they represents OCs I want to shed, as for the rest of the dolls I want, we'll have to see who they become whenever I get them!

    15. Yep! A few of them on my wishlist do. (I included the dolls that I haven't yet acquired parts for yet)

NS Fairyland Littlefee Dark Elf Soo-- Violet

SB IslandDoll Norse Myth Odin-- Adym Starlyn

    16. Like many of the other people here, I only pick out sculpts when I have a character in mind for them. I tried to do it the other way round a couple times, once when I was first getting into the hobby and once when I decided I just had to have a Minifee Sarang... but before I knew it, I was looking for a sculpt for a beloved OC, and I decided that the Sarang looked just like his sister. :) I'm an avid roleplayer and my characters tend to make an appearance in the RP first before I even consider shelling them in doll form. There are still sculpts that I like just on their own (for example, many of the April Story girl sculpts). But I don't consider them as being a part of my wishlist because I would never buy them until I had a character in mind.

    17. Um... well, to be perfectly honest, I sort of named my doll before I ordered her. That's sort of how I knew that she was the one I wanted to order, I think.

I am a bit relieved to hear that I'm not the only one who named one before it's even ordered.

    18. Not only do I have NAMES for the dolls on my wishlist, I have Pinterest boards with company pics, owner pics, and any clothes, wigs, eyes, shoes, etc that I want for them. I also have boards of dolls I want that haven't gotten a name or character yet. And I keep getting more dolls and making more boards and I'm afraid I'm neglecting the ones on my wishlist! My sister and her best friend have this elaborate story line they've invented over the years that's incredibly detailed, and when I introduced them to bjds, they immediately made plans to shell their characters, so those dolls definitely have names, and they're a long way off! I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this.

    19. all my dolls have characters and backstories attached so yes, all my wishlist dolls have names XD

    20. Only if I want to impose a certain character type on them.

For the twins (pumpkin and gourd) I left their original owner's character because they were just darling and I bought them more for the character and less for the sculpt.
Lately I want to get two more girls (normal skin and tan skin, probably a bigger size than the littlefees) and I know for sure I want to name one Ida but I don't know anything else besides that.
