1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    3. It depends on whether or not a name has already presented itself to me before I've bought the doll! Sometimes I've got a name/character planned out for a future doll; more often, it seems I just buy a doll for love, then "meet him at the door" and let him reveal his name to me after he gets here.

My dolls-to-be wishlist is only at 2 right now-- and since I have had them planned for a couple years now, Jinwoo (SID Lee) and Ripley (JID Colin) do have their names all ready for them to move into. :)

    4. Since I use the characters from a story I write, I know the name before I know the sculpt. So yes, I do have names for them.
I even have "dolls" on my wishlist I've yet to find sculpts for. ;)

    5. I find that when I decide that I really do want a doll that I like I absent mindedly assign them to a character I've previously had or I develop their own personality and in the process they get named. It just sort of happens.

    6. As others have mentioned the dolls on my wish list (and my other dolls) are shells for my characters so they already have names. If they aren't shells for characters they wouldn't be on the list.

    7. Yes. Like the first 5 or so on my list have names. Some of them are characters that I found a sculpt for and others that I found a character for a sculpt. So for me it works in both directions. I also have some on my list that are just sculpts that I know I want.

    8. sometimes I do! it just depends if a good name comes to me and i KNOW i'm going to eventually get the doll. for example, I've already decided what I'm going to name my sienna skin lloyd. I'm going to name him Kai :) but then, when i got my charlotte, her name didn't come to me until after I'd already had her for half a year OTL so it just depends i supposed.

    9. Always. They are all specific characters, and even if they turn out not to be who I thought they'd be once they arrive, they don't stay nameless for long.

    10. Yes I do - when I have characters for them already worked up it doesn't bother me to name them before they get home.

However, I have some dolls at home whose names I'm reconsidering. So, it works both ways for me.

    11. Every doll on my wishlist shells a character in for my little story about cosplayers - so definitely. There are a couple characters that I haven't decided on a doll for yet - I've got 2 listed for my Akito Mai right now (a Supia & Elfdoll). So the names come first (sometimes I see some sculpt I love & then create a character FOR them - ie my Jean-Claude - IH Eric - whose character sprang into being in my head the FIRST time I saw IH Claude....)

    12. Guilty! Though usually if they hit my wishlist, they already have a character created for them. Sometimes, I pick sculpts and name them without even planning to get the doll, so in role play, I can say "He looks like THIS!!"

      Currently:

RingDoll Petter hybrid: Hansel Valo (I already bought his body)
      Iplehouse Denzel: Tyson Walters
      IpleHouse Shane: Blaine Gordon
DollZone Zo: Zack Mackenzie-Fable (preteen version)
      B&G Damian: Seann Scott
Asleep Eidolon Lian Rong: Joey Frakes

    13. I have a Pukifee Cupid on my Wishlist and since I know that I´ll buy this doll i have chosen the name Pepita:-)
      I think that´s it!

    14. All the dolls I want to buy are already fixed to characters in my head, mostly. So yeah, they come with names! Sometimes I know a name and a character even before I know the sculpt! But, that's rare....

    15. I have not named any dolls before I get them. I will decide when they have a faceup, wig and a complete outfit.

    16. Although I do start thinking of names for my dolls long before they arrive, they aren't set in stone until the doll is in my hands. I might be pretty much 100% sure of the names for the next two dolls I'm pining after, but they aren't official yet, so, no, I don't put names on my wishlist.

    17. A lot of my dolls have already names before they arrive like my main character is Masahiro (A luts Abadon) :)

    18. I don't have a wish-list any more. And that's a Good Thing. XD

That aside, back when I *did* have one, if I knew I wanted the sculpt for a particular character then I did tend to attach the character's name to the sculpt whenever I talked about eventually getting it. The EID pair I'm currently waiting for, for instance, have come up in conversation as "grown-up Kestrel & Cardinal" for over a year. I knew exactly who those dolls would be long, long before I ever ordered them.

    19. Sometimes in fact! If the character is really starting to take a shape of it's own.

    20. It kind of depends for me. Usually I don't have the name set in stone before I get the doll, but have a good idea of what I want to name it. Before I got my FL RealPuki Pupu, I thought Pea (pronounced Pia) would be a good name but didn't make any final decision until she arrived. Pea ended up fitting her perfectly, too! Next summer I plan to get a RealPuki Tyni and his name will absolutely be Beagan, I've been planning his character since 2011 and I'd be shocked if his name changed. I have a tan FL Littlefee Rachel on order and am not sure yet exactly what her name will be, but am making a list of possibilities and will probably narrow it down before she arrives. Esther (Essie or Etta for short) is the main one I'm thinking of so far.
