1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you ever name the dolls on your dolly wishlist?

May 31, 2013

1. All of the dolls currently on my wishlist are named already because they're going to shell characters that I've had for years. Any dolls after that will have to be named after they get here. :)

2. Not so much, no.... I have ONE doll that I don't own but have named- Doll Chateau Agnes. I named her Chu and I want her someday! :)

3. This. If I can't figure out a character for them, there's a pretty good chance they're not going to end up staying no matter how much I like the sculpt. The ones with names and characters are priority on the wishlist, the ones without those will probably sit there forever until I figure out who they are and then they'll move up the list. The character is the most important part - the actual name in a couple cases has not come until they arrived... but I knew how they fit in and basically who they were before buying them.

4. ^^ I do now. Originally my (not possible financially in this lifetime) doll ultimate dream would have been to have a doll for each of the key characters in a collection of books I read. But that would break me financially >< So I am getting a selection of molds and sizes (right now I'm stuck on Iplehouse dolls) that I will make/remake into the various characters. And out of the blue this hit me.

My “CHAMELION” family ^^:
Chameleon in that these core family members will change to take on various characters I choose to portray, hopefully especially characters from E. Boyle’s books. I think of them as a family of actors in a way who change their looks according to the role they play. They will also have their NON acting images which may be as diverse as their roles. Let’s just say it already looks to be a bit eclectic in style.

I then struck on a pair of names that I can make nicknames with so technically they all have the same name (male or female one) And individually they go by their nickname when not portraying a specific character ^^

For the girls:
Name: Camellia (Cami / Melli / Amilia / Emmy) Chameleon
For the boys:
Name: Cameron (Cam, Meron, Eron, Ron) Chameleon (Eron said more like Aaron)

2 of the girls are alredy in the works (I will be ordering them end of the month)
Name: Camellia (Cami) Chameleon
Sculpt: Luna EID, NS, basic with Type A face-up and pierced ears Maker: Iplehouse
Name: Camellia (Melli) Chameleon
Sculpt: “I” JID, NS, basic with Type B face up & pierced ears Maker: Iplehouse

the next planned doll I hope will be:
Name: Camellia (Amilia/Emmy) Chameleon
Sculpt: Emilia nYID, NS, basic; Type A faceup; med. bust, pierced ears Maker: Iplehouse <-she gets to keep her sculpt name as it's a fit for her lol. oh and all of this... came to me and I wrote it up just last night O_o (lack of sleep = creativity?)

5. I'm trying to decide on a name for my first right now, well before I'll be able to get her, but I'm a very indecisive person. If I don't come up with a name before she arrives it won't be the end of the world. Although if I don't come up with a name she'll probably stick to her sculpt name or be referred to as "my BJD" which is rather lame.

6. I had a name for my first doll five years before I actually had the money AND got the chance to buy him. (He actually predates the character I ended up creating for him by almost three years too.) I have a name for my next doll as well, even though I don't think I'll be purchasing him anytime soon. Even if I don't already have a character I want to shell, I come up with one if I fall in love with a sculpt, to kind of preemptively make it mine, almost, even if I have no immediate plans to order them.

7. My wishlist is usually characters (though sometimes a sculpt attracts me first), so yeah.

The first on the list (iple Jessica on nYID body) is Estee, an RP character, and after that the high priority spots are *mostly* the characters in her world/story, so they've got names. (for that matter, on the big wishlist beyond that, most of the dolls I want I have names for, whether or not I was looking with a character in mind. And I'll probably wind up bumping Rabbit up the list even though he's not in Estee's world at all...)

8. Yes, I do start searching for names while I'm saving for my next doll(s) and get a decent list together of potential names. For the most part, I buy dolls because I love the sculpt, not to shell characters, so finding a name is part of the fun! I basically create characters using the doll as a base. I only have one doll currently that was to shell a character, but I have one on the way (different version of the same character), and two on my wishlist who are also OCs of mine, so their names are set. But the vast majority are just pretty dolls that I love and their names are part of the creation process :)

9. My answer to this is firmly -ish, sort of... I tend to look for dolls that match existing characters, but I've got an awful lot of dolls that were paid for before I had any idea who they were supposed to be!

At the moment my named wishlist consists of:

Mephistopheles Smith - Impldoll Harwick

(which is fairly conservative for me! I normally have huge wishlists - but at the moment I'm focussing on giving my many many floating heads a body! So I'm trying to avoid making solid lists at the moment)

This one was a case of looking for a sculpt to match the character though, along with my WG Thomas, Bowie MNM, Simply Divine Alec and Sabik...

10. Most of the dolls on my wishlist are for characters, so they already have names. The dangerous part of this hobby is when I see a doll that I suddenly want and then I create a character for that doll..... haha.

Here's my wishlist :)

Harry: Angell Studio Jeffery
Bryony: Luts HDF Lolly
Lord Alverstoke: Soom Super Gem ??
Cecelia: Angell Studio Kana
Charles: Luts KDF Buzzi or Bory
Amabel: Luts HDF Anko
Leena: Luts fairy TDF

11. I try to hold off on it because I think by naming them, I'm way more motivated to buy them ASAP which isn't always a good thing, LOL. I only name my dolls once I've paid for them but already have a rough idea of what name would suit them best beforehand.

12. I usually don't name wishlist dolls since I'm kind to change to their names even after receiving the doll and sometimes after getting faceup too.. but now I have Volks Elena on my wishlist and I already named her ^^

13. Yes always!! I like to think about their features even before they get home!!

My wishlist is so composed (pretty long):

· Soom Mirabil [Echo]

· Luts Laila [Mia]

· Peakswood Goldie [Priya]

· Merry Doll Round Fang [泉 Izumi]

· Elfdoll Eun-A [Layla]

· Elfdoll Rita [Siobhán]

· Dream of Doll Tender Shall [Seraphina]

· Simply Divine Harlequin· [Atlas]

14. Sure, dolls on my wishlist already have names and characters

eg. on layaway Iplehouse Bichun - Chansung
Souldoll Ossian - Su'A

15. Not usually.

Sometimes I imagine that a doll might become a certain character with a specific name, but they usually turn into someone else, so even then it's not quite the same thing.

16. Yup, pretty much always. I'm in the dolls representing OCs - camp too, so it's the norm that they already have names long before I actually get around to buying the dolls in question.
There are exceptions of course, and it happened more than once that a doll simply didn't fit the character I initially bought it for so well after all. So re-naming later on definitely happens occassionally.

17. Almost always. That's almost a problem; I plan every doll on my (long) wishlist as perfectly as I can ...and more than once they're off the market before I can buy them T_T and I had such perfect characters for them..!

18. I do. I named my MNF Chloe and I haven't received her yet. She will be Ava.
Also: Crobidoll Yeon-ho will be Dylan! :D

19. I usually pick dolls to be my characters, up to now the most set ones are DOD Homme Ducan = Nat Passer, AOD Shi = Vincent "Vinny" Lordi, Impldoll Vivien = Ubizu Tsubaki and probably Iplehouse I = Robin Tottori

20. I usually don't name dolls I don't own... but, yeah...
Iplehouse Eva - Evangeline
