1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you ever name the dolls on your dolly wishlist?

May 31, 2013

    1. I only name my dolls once I've placed my order and paid for them. Naming things can make you attached to them, which isn't always a good idea incase the sale falls through or you can't save up the money for whatever reason.

    2. Sure, a lot of the time!

If the doll is going to represent a character that means she'll have a name long before I've tracked the doll down. I often give my dolls names and characteristics of figures in mythology/books, and I know that when I find a Beyla she'll be called Sabriel, the "sister" character of my Bygg, Lirael, from the Gart Nix books. Lately I've also been pining for a DHS Mica to call Murphy, as in Murphys Law.

    3. In my case if a doll is on the wishlist is a must it has to have name, I like a lot of different molds but only the really important ones are on the wishlist, the ones with character and back story -there are like five left on it- and yeah <3 I think a lot before I name them though :)

    4. Totally! I write down character ideas and then look for sculpts that would fit them, or vice versa :)

    5. I buy dolls based off of characters I've already created, so all of the dolls on my wishlist are named.

    6. If it's based off of a pre-existing character, it will have its name already. And I'm probably most likely to get it in the future. But dolls I just like because they're pretty? Nah, they don't usually get names beforehand. Those ones are best named in person.

    7. Usually I will create a character and name before purchasing. Every once in awhile though I will purchase a doll that I like and then create the character.

    8. The dolls on my wishlist have to have a name before they come home- that's one my "rules" to help me limit how many dolls I purchase!

    9. ^^; I name the dolls on my wishlist defintely but i also give them their own characters..... I also look for stuff for dolls i dont own yet chibi_rat. but my wishlist is too long to post here but i still need to post it on my profile lol....

    10. the dolls on my wishlist have tentative names. until they are home and face-upped/wigged i'm never sure if that name will actually work out or not but i put the name beside them on the wishlist as a reminder of what i had in mind as a name (i have a terrible memory for names and can't remember otherwise. sometimes i even have to check my profile to find out the name of a doll a haven't played with in a while )

    11. It depends. Some dolls were picked for the characters and some characters are picked for the dolls. So it goes like:
AS Luxifa - Lucifer (OE) and Lucifiel (SE)
      SD Juana - Ann White
PW Goldie (vampire and human) - Andgela and Evangeline Lyn
      DCh hybrid - Seccom Masada-sensei

    12. No, I leave the dolls names as is on the website description and once in hand, I then change the names accordingkly, if I change them at all. But it's easier to keep track of the dolls by their company given name, IMHO.

    13. I have a pretty long wishlist, so only some of them have names. Some of those with names are based on anime characters. The ones with names are-
Lumedoll Lucas- Hei/ Li Shenson (Darker Than Black)
      Lumedoll Koit- Hagi (Blood +)
Fairyland Puki Puki Pong- Lulu Schiff (Blood +)
Peak's Wood Leonardo- Golem (Lord of the Rings)
      Fairyland Real Puki Tyni- Hermes
      Pipos Trudy- Raja
      Dollmore Banji - Kestral

    14. i want to have Dollclans Siber and if i ever buy this doll his name will be Phoenix
      and Dragondoll GuanJu - Yuuko

    15. At the point that I order dolls, I start thinking of names for them, but generally not before. I have two incoming Pipos Cheshire Cat Pi' s, the LE Mysterious in pewter lavender grey will be Pandemonium and the basic grey one will probably be Hatshepsut or possibly Ankhsenamun. Most of my dolls have ancient Egyptian names.

    16. I have a few dolls on my wishlist that I've already made up names for. But I actually already have characters in my mind that I wish to turn into BJDs. I have a few migidolls on my wishlist that I've already named but will probably never get the money for, sadly.

    17. Yes! the Dollspirit Hoya i want to get and name him Raleigh ^_^

    18. It depends! Sometimes, I'll have a character in mind for something, but more often than not I buy the doll because I like the sculpt, the name and character happen while I'm waiting for it. Gives me something to do during the wait XD.
Then there are the dolls that arrive with fully fleshed out personalities, but no name D:

    19. I tend to plan my dolls' characters, outfits, and props far in advance so I can save up for all of it. I like having a plan for what I intend to order. So I absolutely plan for and name the dolls I'm thinking of buying.

    20. No, I always keep the names that they came with from the company.
