1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you feel alone in the hobby? (even with the forum)

May 10, 2014

    1. There's something beautiful about a group of people united by feeling alone, I think.
I don't know anyone remotely interested in BJDs in real life, and only a few people interested in dolls. My husband tries but he's mostly just humoring me. I like the idea of doll meets theoretically, but I'm so socially anxious and awkward that even posting here is scary.
      Maybe someday.
But it's nice to know I'm not alone in feeling alone. :)

    2. I have no friend who live close by in the hobby, this is first one that I haven't but I don't feel alone as I have made friend on here and another small forum for people in the UK, I am happy to be on my own so maybe that makes a difference. I wish there were more general meet ups in the UK so I could get to one as I think I would really enjoy a day with like minded people and see some different BJDs close up. I cannot get to the ones overseas due to my health.
however I have many nice friend who have no interest in dolls who ask me about my BJDs and encouragement in my projects like making a room box. So in that respect I am lucky

    3. Thankfully not, as Ive met such great friends at a great time. :D 3 years with my dolly circle and still going strong!

Altho Im the odd one out somehow in terms to where we all live. I am the one who lives farthest from everyone and I have to travel 6hrs everytime just to meet them. In the end its all worth it. :3nodding:

    4. While I'm currently the only person I know who collects BJDs, there used to a local monthly meet-up but it fell apart once our host restaurant closed for remodeling. Unfortunately, I haven't kept in contact with any of those folks as most were much younger than me. I would feel awfully alone if it weren't for the online groups. They keep making this hobby fun. So no, even though I'm alone I'm not lonely.

    5. Nobody around here is into dolls,or anything creative. It gets lonely not having anyone to talk to about your interests, but I do ok. It's like being part of a secret world.

    6. Honestly I feel very lonely in the hobby. Even with the forum, a doll discord server, and facebook groups I find that I have a lot of trouble actually posting and interacting with other hobbyists. :(

    7. i do feel quite lonely in the hobby... my passion for bjd was reignited by my best friend and we talk about dolls frequently (but long distance as we live almost a thousand miles apart), which makes me very happy! and i know one person lightly into bjd in person, and my girlfriend has been so sweet about my interest. but actual dedicated hobbyists are in short supply, unfortunately.

there is a meet coming up at a convention this summer, but i'm sort of scared to go ^^' i think it'd be great to meet somebody or maybe just buy/trade but i'm horribly shy and really a very boring person so its so much easier to just not go.... if i had someone who was just as into dolls as i was i think it would be easier. my gf is offering to go with me but i would feel like i was boring her, which might be worse than going alone lol. how easy it would be with some confidence!
