1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you find BJDs calming?

Mar 9, 2009

    1. I find them extremely calming, they provide an escape from the real world the time of the play.

    2. it goes both for me, like when i'm sad it helps to just hold them and just laying with them period while i'm watching tv and stuff is just soothing. also it drives me crazy because i constantly want to buy them stuff but don't have the money and i want so many of them.
i have no problem keeping them in good condition since it's fun for me ^w^

    3. I do find them calming, especially while I'm working. Sometimes I'll be planning to make something for one of my dolls (especially my MNF because she's a cute little BRAT) and I'll have her sitting on my coffee table in front of me while I work (I work from home).

    4. Yes.
Whenever I'm sad or feel lonely, or had a tough day, I talk with them and play around with them. It's very calming for me. ^^

    5. they are very calming indeed. the last couple of years of my life have been quite stressing. i've tried to distract myself with other hobbies, but they just couldn't keep me as focused, interested or entertained. i am very grateful tha i came across the bjds when i did.

    6. If I'm ever upset or stressed, just touching them and tilting their heads helps me a lot. There's just something so soothing about them for some reason.

    7. Yes. Not that I go all zen when I'm around them, but compared to everything else, they are a fun and calming thing. They aren't demanding. I don't have to worry about them. I just can look at them to enjoy them. It's just nice to have them around...

    8. Not at all, actually.

But! Because there's always so much work to do on them, and it's happy work, even if stressful because you want to do that work just right, they sure are energizing and rewarding.

    9. I totally agree. That's a big part of why I'm in this hobby.

    10. They are not calmin because they make me do a lot of stuff! Like photography, shopping the right items for them, aking dollclothes etc. , BUT they make me think about "just" dolls, and thats calming and free. I can live then, and dont think so much about the death. They make me feel stronger and happyer. And yeah, thats my way of calm.

    11. I don't know if it's calming or not (because unless I'm on vacation I'm always stressed) but I like having my girl sit by me when I'm home.

    12. When I got seriously interested in BJDs I found the distraction really helpful in coping with things. When I started my layaway for my first boy it settled me as well knowing it was certain that he was coming home. And reminding myself that he'll be here relatively soon helps motivate me and gives me something else to think about while I'm at my stupid job which drives me mad.

    13. YES ....very much so

    14. At school when I was a little girl, I wasn't exactly the girl who got invited to sleepovers or birthday parties or anything. I was always alone there. But at either one of my grandmas' houses, they both had lots of dolls for me to play with while I was there. Of course there were Barbies, but the doll I liked most was a porcelain Alice in Wonderland doll that my grandma bought when I was born (she went on this crazy spree of buying dolls with blond hair and blue eyes because I had blond hair and blue eyes) I loved that doll, but hardly ever took her outside because--even though my grandma said i could do whatever i want with her--she was my special doll. She was my friend. I didn't want her to get dirty or broken, and I felt like she was my friend, even though she couldn't talk back.

So now if I feel anxious or scared, I'm always turning to dolls for comfort. Having them around feels absolutely natural.

    15. I do find them very calming, even just talking about them.

    16. Absolutely. Not that I have a high stress life, but how can one not help feelings better playing with, arranging, watching, photographing one's dolls?

Ever been stuck on a problem, but then as soon as you start to explain said problem to someone else you figure it out? Can't tell you how many times explaining a problem to one of the girls sitting on my desk produced the same result. Who knew they were all experts in graduate level quantum physics?

    17. I do. If I'm about to start writing or drawing, I usually take Tetsuya with me and pose him or sit him in my lap because it actually is really calming having him near.:)

    18. Oh, extremely. If I'm stressed or upset, I'll often look at dolls on the internet or take my own dolls out and pose them around me or brush their hair or whatever needs to be done - sometimes even maintenance like restringing will calm me down. They just make me happy pretty much no matter what!

    19. Absolutely! BJDs are like therapy for me. They calm my nerves and make me happy just looking at them. And it's not just my dolls, looking at everyone else's dolls has the same effect.

    20. Yes, certainly. This hobby brings me pleasure.
