It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you find BJDs calming?

Mar 9, 2009

    1. Yes I do. I write too, and use them as a muse or a fourth dimension - creating their characters as my familiarity grows with them.

    2. I find them incredibly calming and it's nice to see so many other people think the same! In fact, it's the main reason my husband puts up with them.

    3. I also do find them calming.
I don't know what it's about them, but it's like they're saying "Don't worry. No matter your troubles, we're here for you" <3
It feels nice just hugging my big boy or stroking his hair (it's so soft), brushing my little angel girl's faaar too long and tangled hair, or just having my smallest boy sit in the palm of my hand.

    4. The only time I find mine the least bit frustrating is if I'm trying to make them do a certain pose and they keep flopping on me. :) Mostly though, they are very calming to me - just looking at them makes me smile.

    5. I do and I don't find BJD's calming. I find my boy claming, he's just a happy, calm character and I love just sitting him in my hand and smiling back at him. But my girl (who is my second doll) is less calming at times. She has a lot of character and some of the looks she gives just makes me frustrated trying to work out what she's trying to tell me.

    6. I find my calming, as well, most of the time. They give me a focus that is purely art and creativity without any of the interruptions of "real life" or responsibilities. They've been part of my financial strain lately, but in the end, they are worth it. Just looking at them, fiddling with their hair, clothes, pose, etc, and thinking up new things to do with them puts me at ease while filling me with creative energy.

Lately, they hadn't been doing that as well, but I seem to have rekindled my bond with my dolls, and some of that calming and creative energy is coming back.

    7. I definitley find my boy calming. His personality is very laid back and tolerant, and often just holding him for a while makes me feel better if I'm upset or angry. His character has a quiet manner about him which seems to suggest 'You can vent to me if you want. I don't mind'. I also imagine him to be the sort that does not judge others too quickly.

    8. i do actually , when i'm alone at my house or when i'm feeling a bit sad or down or having a bad day my doll cheer me up , i talk and hug him and just spent the day with him making me very calm ~

    9. I'm glad that your doll has given you such peace. That's amazing. :)
My dolls offer both peace and stress, depending on the doll and my situation.
Currently I have a doll that I've been having issues with so when I look at her I feel very nervous and upset. My other two bring me great comfort and I can't help but grin when I look at my Dollzone Fei's face. Just holding their little hands or taking a nap with them is so soothing and reassuring.
When I'm with them it's like I'm in another realm where everything is irrelevant but their beauty and my imagination.

    10. Yes, things that are pleasurable are "calming" for sure. Do what ever you need to do to cope in tis crazy world.

    11. Yes, I do find my bjds calming and reassuring.

I love holding them when I'm upset or having them around all the time in general.

When one of my friends passed away at the end of last year and I learned of it, I clung to my SD boy so hard and cried for hours.

    12. I do think my doll's are given me rest, a calming effect. I do have them close to me, just watching is giving me pleasure and calming mood!

    13. Yes, absolutely. For me, the calming effect is playing, photographing and just having my BJD family hanging around helps with any anxiety I may have.

    14. BJDs in general? No. My own? Mostly not either, with my favorite being a slight exception.
Sometimes I just look at him and feel a little better and calmer after a not so very pleasant day, yes, but that's just a temporary thing and only ever works for the moment.
Sadly, they are nothing that makes me calmer, cheers me up when I'm truly upset or helps me cope with things better in general. If anything, plotting their character's stories does that, but that's been the case long before I even knew what a BJD was.

    15. Very much so. I just have one for now, but she is really calming. If I'm having a bad day and want to relaz with a movie, just having her chill on the table next to me or in my lap helps. Also planning things for her keeps my mind busy if there's stuff going on.

    16. Yes. Just walking into the room after a long day and seeing them there waiting for me is amazing. They have such a quiet, unwavering presence. I love to unwind with a doll in my lap while watching TV in the evening, though I find just having one in the room is incredibly calming too - to the point where, even though I enjoy working on the larger dolls most, I have considered getting a smaller doll to take in my purse with me sometimes.

    17. Not being able to afford all the dolls I want causes me anxiety. Especially because I seem to only want dolls that are limited or rare (I don't like them for their rareness, it just happens that way).

But when I finally do have the dolls and I get into painting/dressing them it's like I'm in my own little world. Then I like looking at dolls and getting ideas for how to style mine and that creative process is pretty encompassing and shuts out the world.

So I'm somewhere in between. The desire for things causes suffering as the Buddhists say, but any hobby has that calming effect.

    18. I've had my boy for about three weeks now and I've found that he is amazingly calming. I had a rough night the other night and I just cuddled with him and I felt loads better.

    19. I also feel that they make me calm ^^
Except that a few photo shoots can be stressful, or if a shoe is stuck or something like that, and when inexperienced people are playing whit them. *stare at them* o_O' hehe

    20. Yes And No!

No- when there's a doll I want or it's limited or I'm saving up or I'm ordering it or it's just shipped or I just fudged a faceup or it's butt-naked because I'm broke, my blood pressure is up there, haha.:sweat
It's especially non-calming when I'm being kicked in the mouth or pinched while I'm messing with their joints.

Yes-When I have my doll in my hands, *happily clothed*, it brings me happiness and calms me down--similar to the effects of a cat on my lap. I've found it's a new coping skill-If I happened to have a bad day at school, I just go down to my room and there are my pretties to distract and comfort and calm me. :aheartbea

Going into the hobby, I just thought they were really cool-looking pieces of interactive art. I never expected they'd come with so many added benefits!:fangirl:
