1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you find BJDs calming?

Mar 9, 2009

    1. my dolls definitely help me relax. I've been pretty stressed lately and just playing with my doll posing makes me feel better...

    2. i feel that owning a BJD is very theroputic.
I can dress her up how ever and make her be what i want her to be.
i sometimes vent to her to, she isnt just a doll, you know ;)

    3. It depends on the facial expressions or appearance of the doll. Girls wearing light colored- or even better, pastel colored clothes tends to calm me. Though, I probably won't buy a girl in my whole life. Black also doesn't amuse me much though.

    4. I took out all my boys yesterday and changed their clothes after a very long time (almost 3 months since I don't 'play' with them)...I felt an immense rush of calm come over me and I thought "this is what I really like" I enjoy BJDs so much, they somehow make me forget about the daily life stress.

    5. I find them calming. And I love petting fur wigs. xD

    6. I just bought my first doll and I have to say, just sitting there trying on clothes, it is really calming. It gives me the same feeling as reading a book. There is a sense of escape from reality.

    7. Absolutely, calming and relaxing... BJD is a world of escape for me.

    8. I noticed that dolls can do both, relax and make me feel better by looking at them, and also annoy when I see a wig falling off or something similar XD

But I agree that having them around is soothing. But that probably goes for anything you like a lot, when it's around you feel better. ^^

    9. I find a lot of comfort and a sense of accomplishment when I work with Marc. It's a very simple feeling, but much needed when I am stressed with life. Just having him around makes me smile.

And yes...I talk to him. Guilty as charged. LOL

    10. I agree, they're really relaxing, everytime I look at a bjd or i hug one I feel relaxed and happy! ^w^

    11. I honestly dont know what I would do without my dolls and my hobby. They are my little world I escapt to everyday.....very calming and soothing indeed.

    12. Yes. I love to have them around me. Even after a stressfull day, just picking one up and cuddle with him, or only have him sitting on my lap or next to me is really calming.

    13. Yes, I find bjds very relaxing. I love to spend time with my dolls and appreciate a lot what they give me in terms of creativity, an outlet for my imagination and pure fun.

    14. The dolls themselves? No.

Hand-sewing doll clothes, however, is something I find very calming.

    15. Chaeri is a great source of comfort to me sometimes. Not that she can replace the love of my life partner and family in any way, but sometimes when I'm feeling down just holding and looking at her will give me a much-needed pick-me-up.

    16. With me, it depends on what doll related activity I am considering as to whether I am calmed by the dolls or upset by them. I have fits changing wigs. It is not a calming experience for me to change a wig because I know both the doll and I are going to be struggling with this change.

Waiting for dolls or accessories is not calming. I always overestimate or underestimate the amount of time before the package arrives.

However, I love dressing my girls and I crochet and sew for them. All those activities are very calming. And sometimes one of the girls needs a cuddle and joins me in the recliner with my poodle, one on the right leg and the other on my left. That is pretty good, pretty calm.

    17. I find working on my dolls (their outfits, styling wigs, maintaining, etc.) to be very therapeutic. Looking at my dolls as they sit on a shelf, not so much. it's the playing with them I find relaxing. Much the same way I find target shooting: I can't think about anything else while I'm working on them. All my attention is focused.

    18. Well, I must say you choose, save money, buy, wait months and hope it do not pay much tax, makes me anxious, however, when they arrive is a great pleasure, dress, play, get ready. My dolls, definitely calms me, just stay with them a bit:aheartbea.

    19. I do! I tend to play with mine when I'm worked up over something!

    20. I do.
My doll, I've found, really is a soothing presence. I have bipolar disorder and anxiety attacks, and on my bad days, I'll just sit down and hold her and even talk to her a bit and she calms me down so much. When I photograph her or comb her hair, it gives me something quiet and calm to focus on, and I start to feel better. It's one of the many reasons I don't regret buying her.
