1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you Google companies you haven't heard of and then regret it...

Sep 26, 2013

    1. I honestly hardly ever Google companies, and I rarely ever look at any company's dolls :sweat

The exception is animal dolls, which I'm very interested in and will Google companies when people post photos of pet dolls I haven't seen before. I used to Google companies looking for wigs and clothing, but I've since found a site for wigs (Leekeworld. I'm in love with their colour range) and decided to make all my doll clothing myself (because I am super fussy about fabrics and styles).

I don't Google for human dolls because I know I want my collection to be very consistent in style, which means I'm content to stay with dolls made by just one company. Even if I loved dolls from another company, I wouldn't want to buy them.

    2. Oh yes, this happened when I definitely discovered Iplehouse, I then went out bought a lottery ticket and hoped for the best...

    3. All the time. I love looking at dolls and I want to find the best dolls for me. The only way to really do that is by being familiar with as many companies as possible. You never know where your dream doll is located, or who is selling it. It really pays to know what's available and by who. I also always check out events and new releases by each company because you just never know.

This is how I found Momocolor. I just adore their unique bodies and cute faces. Their tan skin is beyond amazing. I wanted to order right away but waited for the winter event so I could get a free head.

    4. Yes, definitely... When I started I only knew Fairyland and only wanted to own Fairyland dolls. Then I got into Aileendoll. And Iplehouse. Then Momocolor and Soom. Later on Luts, Lati and Irrealdoll. The latest are Pipos, Peakswoods and Creatures Dolls.

If I had only known Fairyland for the nearly two years that I am collecting now I would have saved a lot of money... :)

    5. Nah, I'm totally not rich enough to discover a doll company and immediately reach for my wallet. I think finding new and intriguing companies is a fun part of the hobby. There's a few sculpts out there that I've had a love-affair with from afar, which, while perhaps not as satisfying, certainly can still be enjoyable.

    6. I'm actually doing it now (looking up some company names mentioned in the above replies). I can't really afford it but it's fun to look anyway. :)

    7. Do you Google companies you haven't heard of and then regret it...

In short: yes, all the time! I'm constantly running out of characters for the "wishlist" section in my profile.

    8. I'm the same way. I get really picky.

    9. I did this in the beginning, but now there are so many companies that I rarely see a doll that stands out. (Which is a good thing, since I don't need to buy any more of them due to lack of space.) Unless there's something unique about the company, like Doll Chateau or Angel Egg, for instance, I don't bother googling them. I'm more impressed by specific customizations others have done rather than the companies at this point.

    10. I do it constantly, but it's not real regret. I want to learn all I can about this hobby, and finding all these companies helps that. I hadn't heard of Irrealdoll before Lil Spark mentioned them above, but now I'm smitten!

    11. I have been doing this as I learn more and more about doll companies. My want list is growing and growing, and shows no sign of stopping. Discussion posts like "sculpts that deserve more love" and "unknown companies" only make this worse, because of course I want to look up every one mentioned.

    12. I'm always googling new doll companies that I hear about. Regret it? No, never. My "wants' are always going to exceed my means, that's just life. I like learning about exciting new possibilities out there.

    13. When I first decided to get a BJD, I tried to look at as many doll companies as possible, before I decided on which one I would buy from. I could have easily bought from a company that I already knew of, but I have a limited budget and I wanted my first doll to be something I really wanted. I stumbled on Doll Leaves in my search and they were the first company I bought from. If I didn't go looking, I wouldn't have the collection I have now. Mind you, I don't have a huge amount of dolls, just three for now. I may add on more in the future though ; )

    14. Haha...
Yes, I think there was 4 times in this hobby when I wished I could win the lottery/turn back time/come into a huge inheritance/or actually flying to the country where the event was held to purchase the doll...

Sad to say as a student, I am quite poor and won't be able to do any of those... Kekeke. ^^
As for finding out about the companies, I think that is part of the fun..
You know, searching and finding your perfect doll and discovering companies which you adore~

I don't regret searching about the doll companies..though my wishlist does grow by leaps & bounds while I am at it..
But doing so gives me a better understanding of which company will perhaps come out with my fated-to-be dolly~

Just hope that it won't be a limited edition when I have no money.. >.<

    15. Yes, oh yes, I do this ALL THE TIME... My wish-list is just getting bigger and bigger... xD

    16. The longer I've been in this hobby the pickier I get! I've always liked slim minis, but now I've turned my taste towards the mature slim minis with more realistic face. I don't mean totally, but the big eyes just don't do it for me anymore. I think I used to google for new companies all the time, but anymore I know what I like and what those companies are already. It's been a really long time since I did that.
I do keep tabs on if a new companies with msds I like when they pop up in the doll news places I follow, but going out blindly searching just isn't something I do these days. I used to enjoy it a lot though...

    17. I usually don't since I'm pretty picky with which dolls and styles I like.
Though I love sculpting my own things I do find it fun to be inspired by these new finds.

    18. ...I just have an ever-growing wishlist. One that will continue to get larger and never be fulfilled.

    19. All.The.Time. There was so much new information on this forum, every time I follow a new link to a new company, I fall in love all over again.

    20. I'm also fairly new to the hobby. XD Just yesterday I Googled Withdoll and found 4 must-haves. ^ ^;

lol, I told myself I'd only ever get one doll, but that might have to change!
