1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you Google companies you haven't heard of and then regret it...

Sep 26, 2013

    1. I don't have an impulse purchase issue, but more of a 'oh if only I had $600 to spend on dolls' issue. It breaks my heart to see a doll I adore but would never be able to get the full-set. Currently sad about the Ring-Doll Boyce human full-set. THAT WIG!!!

    2. Yep I often google doll companies I have never heard of, but I only occasionally end up wanting a doll from that company. I have pretty specific tastes when it comes to dolls.

    3. I've never immediately reached for my wallet... I ain't got it like that haha.

I do like to check out companies I've never heard of though. I'm extremely picky with dolls so I'm usually hoping a new company will have something that clicks with me. So far, no dice with my last few googlings. I do have a wishlist though with alot of the older sculpts on there.

    4. Googling a company is usually one of the first things I do if I have never heard of them - regret, however, is not something that I do, LOL. My buying is usually limited to dolls that have captivated me for MONTHS, or are so absolutely and incredibly perfect for a pre-made character of mine that the thought of NOT having them is even worse than an empty wallet for a few weeks. It also helps that I have a very specific aesthetic that I enjoy that very few doll companies actually fit.

    5. I google lots of company names if I havent seen their lines before. I like to see everything thats out there so I know the dolls on my lists are "the ones", with the exception of new sculpts that call to me. New WL dolls are a fairly rare occurrence now, but my tastes are gravitating towards artist dolls with unique proportions and features

    6. Oh dude, totally have this issue. Just looked up Aileen dolls to see what all the hype is, aaaaand now I really want Seed >_>

    7. This sounds so "me"......but the worst thing is sometimes when you see a pretty picture of a doll and when you finally get the brand of it, you realize that the company already closed down!!! That is like the most disappointing thing ever (happens to me when i discovered Glorydoll). Then you need to spend god knows how long time to find it in marketplace. This process...happy with bitterness.

    8. I am rabid, I hear of a new doll company, I run off to look at it immediately. I only really like extremely realistic dolls... (cough, Iplehouse...cough)... so I only rarely see dolls that appeal to me. But I feel compelled to look... you never know WHAT you might find!

    9. Absolutely! I do this all of the time! With so many beautiful dolls out there, it's hard not to!

    10. I like to keep abreast of things. My wishlist changes quite often coz sometimes a new doll might come out which I deem more suitable. I check the company news on DoA daily coz they're usually consistent with posting new stuff. But when I first started, I went through almost the entire dollmakers list on the wiki here, looking for sculpts.

I really would prefer it if I had owner pics to look at but sometimes I fall in love with limited dolls and I don't get that luxury. There were two sculpts that I got without owner pics to go by and boy do I regret it coz there are certain facial features that I just couldn't stand on them which the company photos never show.

    11. All the TIME especially as a noob! I've fallen in love so many dolls...

    12. All the time! Or at least, when something strikes me as interesting. I don't usually find dolls I like, because I'm really selective but the other day I googled IslandDoll, found a doll I liked, mentioned the site to my other friends who have dolls... I left with plans for two dolls, and both friends left with one. So while we didn't buy anything, we definitely will when we have the money. So yeah, bit of regret there, but only of the best kind! :XD:

    13. I feel it's better to make some attempt to stay informed, than to find out about a doll that trips your trigger only after it's been sold out.

    14. I am always doing this! Although I have mostly stuck with dolls I have been looking at for years I go through the temporary madness that is associated with wanting all the pretty new sculpts at a particular company.

    15. I still google doll companies every time i find new doll company, last time i reseach about doll realm, many people said they're bad on packing. After i got my boy, yes bad package. His finger was broken but fortunately the company sent new hand to me.

    16. There are so many dolls on my wish list, but many of them will probably never make it in my home. I love searching through the Box Openings section because it gives me more companies to look at !

    17. I definitely have googled a company and been immediately attracted to a face sculpt and wanted to purchase it. However, I'm one of those people that creeps on dolls for a long time (a year or so) before purchasing. I think that I've managed to avoid any major wallet-draining purchases from spontaneity only because I'm rather picky (with just about everything) and already have something in mind before I purchase it.

For example, I have been looking for an adult doll for a long time, SD size, ,with removable teeth, big lips, small eyes, and, most importantly, available in very dark resin colors. I eventually came across Amanda Beauty. (I was familiar with Dollshe before I joined the hobby with my first purchase, but I'm one of those people with poor dolly taste and I wasn't a fan of Hound, etc., so they weren't really on my radar.) Unfortunately, I was just starting to pick up with my dolly purchases and buy things through stores, so I was uncomfortable asking for only the head (the body just wasn't right, although beautiful). I kept the window open on my computer for fourish months or so until I decided to email around my birthday.

So I guess I would have more problems if I were less socially awkward. Who knew?

    18. Everyday haha, my wishlist has grown

    19. Yep. All. The. TIME. Mirodoll and their freaking SALES. I think the only reason I haven't been trying to save up for another doll is because I am a literary addict. I need to expand my book collection so... It's easier to save up quickly for a new shiny book then a doll. :sweat I don't regret it since... Well then it also makes me focus on the dolls I have now. If I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a specific doll I'll know the second I see it.

    20. :)I don't buy any doll without doing research/google it first also l do ask a lot of question as well.
