1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you have a price limit on certain sizes of dolls/clothes/shoes/etc?

Jan 4, 2015

    1. This is all planning and my budget is $0 right now, but if a doll is over $100 per 10cm height, then I usually lose interest. I won't pay over $120 for a head unless it's a really nice limited or a SD (in which case $300 is the cutoff), and around $50 for an outfit is as much as I'll spend.
Doll wigs and shoes have to be cheaper than wigs and shoes for people, and I vehemently avoid buying anything that isn't absolutely 100% necessary. (Like actually nice eyes... orz)

    2. Yes I check on price and I have a limit
sometimes it's complicated because of rate change (currently canadian dollars is not at its best :( and sometimes I forgot my limit ;)
I try to not pay more for doll outfit/wig/shoes that I will pay for myself
      It's not always easy

    3. For dolls, my spending limit is the amount of money currently available in my bank account, ha ha. But seriously, in terms of BJDs, it's all about supply and demand. I will gladly pay top dollar for a limited run doll that I really want (especially because the resale value is likely to stay high). As for second-hand dolls, I do look for good deals but I'm definitely willing to pay a bit extra to eliminate a long layaway or production waiting time. I can't really say what my dollar threshold is -- it depends on factors like whether or not the doll has a unique custom faceup or if it's a sculpt that doesn't show up on the second-hand market very often.

I admit to being a total quality snob about clothes and shoes! I also hate the roulette wheel of online purchases, so I find myself buying from some of the same vendors over and over again. If I can afford it, I buy it, because I have no problem paying good money for an outfit that I know is very well made and will definitely fit my doll. And I can't say that I've had many bad experiences with clothing/shoes/eyes, EXCEPT for very cheap items on eBay. Most every time I've splurged on something, it has turned out to be one of my favorite doll items. Here's hoping that I stay so lucky!

    4. I'd spend the same on both my doll and myself, since I feel like my dolls are an extension of myself. I pay for what's good. Some articles of clothing I don't care if it's cheap or not, but I wouldn't dress myself in shaggy clothing and I wouldn't do it to my dolls either. I spend more on their clothing than mine sometimes even. I won't pay over the price of a whole doll for a few pieces, but I also won't spend the same amount of money on something for myself.

If I'm willing to spend a hundred dollars on a top or dress for myself, I'd probably do the same for my dolls. But the only doll clothing rule I have is that it has to be realistic and it has to be good. Price never really matters to me in the doll world. And I'm fairly patient. Like I'd rather have a naked doll and spend my whole budget on one article of clothing that's nice than go cheaper and get multiple cheap flimsy things and just wait a few more weeks to be able to order the other thing.

    5. What is this price limit thing? XD (j/k)

I always draw a line. And then something comes along... and yeah. I try.
