1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you hide your dolls when a repair person comes to your house or apartment ?

Jan 23, 2013

    1. I don´t trust no one :o
What if they see them and think I´m rich or something. And later they come and rob my house!

      It has happend before :sweat

    2. Haha hmmm! I wouldn't hide them intentionally if someone had to come into my room (which never happens anyways) HOWEVER right now I might! Because my dolls are in pieces and headless so I have a bunch of naked SD13 bodies sitting in my room lol.

Back when I had gotten my first boy we had a handyman come over to repair the sink and I hid my boy. But again it was just because well... he had no eyes and looked kinda creepy with his old faceup on (dark eyeshadow and no eyes) haha... it was my boyfriend's place so I didn't want the people there to think he's creepy for owning such a doll (even though the doll is mine and not his).

So yeah, if my dolls are all properly put together and dressed, I do not hide them.

    3. I live in a very small apartment so I do move them into my closet, because they will get dirty whenever someones over. Also, I don't like to display them anyway, my loves are in their boxes unless I play with them. (which is a lot so no need to feel bad for them :P )

    4. I don't hide my dolls when anyone comes over since they all reside in my bedroom. If I don't want someone to see them, I just shut my door. I don't think a repairman would come into my dark dungeon of a room anyways.

    5. Newp. As a matter of fact I show off my BJD to anyone who will listen to me talk about her lol

    6. Nope, unless the repair person would be doing work in the room where the dolls live and there is the possibility of damage. Otherwise I really don't care what people think of my collection.

    7. I keep my dolls in a cabinet that has built-in curtains. I don't "hide" them, per se, but they aren't visible unless I want them to be.

    8. I normally wouldn't hide them from anyone unless my dolls needed to be out of the way or someone's kids were coming. I have a tough time getting kids not to touch my collection. Other than that it doesn't bother me if someone sees them. I like talking about them if someone asks questions :)

    9. I would absolutely move or store any dolls that were in an area where repairmen were going to be working. Based on previous experience, those guys are not always super-graceful, and I've had some in my house that not only didn't clean up the mess they'd made, but they didn't tell us that they had knocked over and made a general disaster of our personal items.

I also put my dolls away in their boxes when I go on vacation. Not that they can't still be stolen, but I don't like to leave them sitting out on their shelves as bait to be taken or broken when I'm not there!

    10. Nope, only move them if they are in the way or at risk of getting dirty or broken.
I'm a middle aged guy with dolls; not only am I not embarrassed about that at all, I figure if I hide mine I might miss an opportunity to meet another doll fan who is hiding theirs!

    11. I don't hide my dolls, if there is no risk that they are in the way and might broke or something. The place I live in has really lovely land-lady and repair person anyway, so they usually just compliment me if I have some nice decorations etc.

    12. I do, and I also try not to leave any of my dolls out of their boxes or cabinets when I'm leaving the room. It is just a basic security. People sometimes are curious, and it can be both verbal and physical. Although you wouldn't expect a repair man to grab the doll, it can happen with most of other people, especially children. On other hand, if I miss to hide my dollies and somebody sees them, well, then I very curiously start watching their reaction! :)

    13. Never. Sometimes they comment on something. One guy told me that my place was a bit creepy because of the little heads in my table. Other one asked me where my kids are (I have none). These things just make me laugh so much.

The only time I actually got shy was when I let this radiator fixer in and continued drawing. At some point he had quietly appeared behind me and commented that "Oh, you can draw, what is that?". I didn't tell him any storylines, just replied "a cyborg" and felt the sudden urge to hide to another room

    14. Nope! Our girls are proudly displayed on their dolly-sized couch right in the middle of the first room people enter when they come into our home.

Our only floating heads are hidden away, though, but mostly so we don't lose track of them :)

    15. Nope. I have places where they're on display and proudly so. I do wonder what they think. But since so many people aren't familiar with BJDs I think they probably imagine them to be some kind of "fancy porcelain dolls or something."

    16. I used to care loads about my dolls, whenever friends or family came round i would hide them in my closet or something, until this year i decided not to care anymore what people think, i have them in my lounge now, anywhere :) i post the doll pictures anywhere now, on instagram, flickr and facebook :) whenever someone says what a waste of money i say i don't care what people think :) its the best way to be :)

    17. Not intentionally, but most of my dolls are tucked away except when I am playing with them these days. Not because I fear workers, per se, but because I have a 2 year old male Siamese who is impossibly inquisitive and equally clumsy. Everything is a potential toy for this cat. Before he came along I had dolls on shelves everywhere, but with Loki around that's just impossible. He's pretty aptly named, this cat. :P

    18. I do try to tuck them away in their boxes or at least put them somewhere less obvious, like in the back of my display case. Repair people/strangers are less worrisome than if some of my extended family saw them though, as I may never see a repair person again, but my family may be weirded out and keep bringing it up again in the future.

    19. I wouldn't hide my dolls because I was embarrassed, I would be hiding them just so no one decides to be nosy and touches them.

    20. I only have 2 dolls at the moment so they don't look too "bizarre" to people. I don't think I would every hide my dolls, I think of them as decoration. Only time I'd hide them is if someone was using my room as a guest room to sleep and they felt scared of them or something. :o
