It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you hide your dolls when a repair person comes to your house or apartment ?

Jan 23, 2013

    1. Nope.. but i watch him like a HAWK........

    2. Yes, I do hide some of them. I have a lot of SD sized dolls and so its kind of weird when a non-doll person sees them. I will put them inside the pull out dresser drawers that I have so they are easily hidden.

I had my home broken into last year and they didn't touch the dolls. They took all the electronics, like computers, gameboy, x-box, wii, ect. I hope all the dolls creeped them out.

    3. That's terrible you had your home broken into! I hope nothing was taken that couldn't be replaced. Though just having a break in is bad enough. I truly hope the person(s) who did that get some heavy karma payback.

I will admit I also would hope if someone broke into my home that my dolls would creep them out and they'd before taking anything.

Better yet, that my dolls would start moving and give the robbers a heart attack :XD:

    4. I'll put my dolls somewhere within sight that way I can make sure they don't mess with them, but I don't hide them except for when little kids are around

    5. I had the internet guy over and I was sewing a dress for my doll, she was just sat around in the buff. If he noticed her he didn't even blink.

    6. Update! I left one out while my furniture was being delivered.... no one said anything :)

    7. Ha-ha, no! I don't care what they think of the doll. I just try not to mention how much they cost for obvious reasons. Also, not sure why they would go into my bedroom...even still....

    8. I keep my dolls covered in a dark room where repair persons are unlikely to see them but then, I don't leave my jewelry out either.

    9. My dolls (BJD and otherwise) are all over my house. I honestly have no idea where I'd hide them all, even if I wanted to. I really love the strange looks on people's faces when they see my dolls, to be honest.

haha...when my brother and sister-in-law came to stay the weekend at my house last time, Tyler (RS Mai) was actually sitting on my dining room table when they arrived. My sister-in-law has never seen any of my dolls before, and her reaction was like "lolwhut?" and then "OH, he's cute!!" It was actually quite funny. She kind of fell in love with my dolls' little shoes. hahaha

    10. I dont have any dolls to hide (I dont have any) , but I am aware that it is a diverse hobby that probably doesnt appeal to everyone and it might seem weird but oh well everyone to their own I suppose!

    11. It depends on the worker type..

If they work for the phone or electric company, I trust them. If they are a self-made business person (a plumber or maid, etc) I do not trust them because there is a lack of accountability.

Normally I keep my dolls in "mobile mode" which means bubble-wrapped in a special bag I have set-aside for transporting them, so people do not see the dolls unless I have been playing with them that day.... or week depending on how busy I am lol. I would only leave a doll out if I were to stay in the room with the worker. They may not know it's value, but if they were to knock it down or "take a piece of it" with them I would be devastated.

    12. I usually only have one doll out at a time, but I make sure they're out of the way in a different room. I don't care if a repair person sees them, I just don't want to risk them getting knocked over or damaged. When family comes over I don't move them because they leave them alone.

    13. Just earlier today I did a doll sweep in preparation for the repair man. I'm pretty self-concious about my dolls and Cailean wasn't exactly inconspicuous, what with his masculine pride on display and all. It's not so much that I am afraid they'll be rude or steal them or anything, I would just rather not deal with it. Same goes for family and other visitors, too.

    14. My landlord's trustworthy. He's a really nice guy, and he and his brother do most of their repairs themselves. I try to be home when they have to call someone in, like a plumber or something, but I don't worry. Honestly, if people were going to steal from me, the last thing around here they'd look at are my dolls. XD I have no less than 4 video game systems hooked up and two 5-feet tall DVD racks full of video games, right inside the front door. I think that's where thieves would hit, were they doing to. If they went into my bedroom they'd probably grab my jewelry, which is all hanging from jewelry racks on display. Though it's all fake and the joke would be on them. XD

    15. Oh goodness no. It's my place, there is no reason for me to rearrange my life over a one time visitor.

    16. I'm actually a cable repair person, and trust me, the things that make it back to the office for story time are typically not going to be about doll collectors of any kind.
I mean, if the place is lined with them it might be of some note, but it's still just barely interesting compared to the things we see.
It's more about the crazy/raging people, or the hoarders like you see on TV that make for an unsafe work environment, or just some horror story about why you were at a job for 3 hours.
As far as the dolls go, if I ever come across a collector I'm just happy if they've taken the time to move them away from where I'll need to be working, since my hands can get pretty dirty and I'd hate to touch something valuable.
No cable guy, or other tradesman would guess the value of these dolls, so theft from their type is highly unlikely. In my office theft is unheard of, because no one wants to risk their salary for something they can afford anyway. We do better than most cable techs, I think, especially compared to American ones I've heard about.
If I had a maid service I'd be a bit more concerned, since often the service can be there when you aren't which is less typcial with trades people.
Plus maids are typically women, and the maid might not know the value of the dolls, but may still covet them. There are definitely men in this hobby (and men who are maids), but the odds are far less that a man would want to steal my dolls, I think. I'd probably only hire a maid from a very reputable business, rather than an individual or new business, if I wanted to be able to leave them out.

    17. Yes! I would surely hide my dolls from them or someone I don't know well because who would know what they thought. They might be afraid of them or wanted to touch. So I would hide them in their box and put under my bed. It was better for both me and other non BJD people. :)

    18. Haha I don't even hide my adult toys(only because I forget to put em away). I'm a pretty open person and I usually don't think to hide anything.

    19. I currently am keeping my dolls in a basket in the top of a closet, because, one: small child, two, new kittens, three, new place with nothing in it. four, The movers come saturday with all our stuff from a 3 bed 1.5 bath with a basement and full garage to a 2 bed condo with 2 car garage, and no space for storage. So they need to be somewhere safe until we get our stuff, such as the cirio cabinet I put them in and have it settled where it will be for the next 2 years till we move back to co. I hate texas. :( all my dolly friends are back in CO. :'(
      so they are hidden.
But once all big furniture is in it's place, and secured to the walls, *climbing kittens/children = everything needing to be mounted to the wall for saftey.* they are the first ones going up.
      then manga
      then books
      then games
      :P
And when we have service done, since now we live in a complex of townhome style apartments, will probably have matanince all the fucking time for shit, i will leave them out in their case. If i was working on one it will go into the case naked. with one eye. to scare the crap out of them. :/
The people that run this place suck so i dont mind freaking them out.
When we had our home in co. i left them out high up, and a lot of my friends would ask me to cover them cause it creeped them out. my son who is 3 would say, "well they are not as creepy as the boogy man" lol
i like showing my dolls off either to say look so cute. or look so creepy. :D

    20. Yes, or at least huddle them all together on my bed where I can watch them like a hawk. I had a worker from DirecTV actually ask me to help him with something he didnt understand (Um why is he asking me then? I don't get it either) THEN when he was moving my TV around he unplugged my gaming system without alerting me first and knocked my Wii's sensor bar into the wall so hard my folks heard it. I a few days later went to play my games and the sensor bar was BROKEN, totally wrecked, it wasn't working at all. I had to order a new one. =A= So I apologize if I don't trust them.
