1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you interact with your dolls on a daily basis?

Jul 24, 2013

    1. Yup, same with me. I have my dolls displayed in the hallway and I see them every time I walk past them. Sometimes I don't pick them up for months at a time, but I don't feel guilty at all. These are object. Pretty things, but without feeling. I like making things for them (right now I'm working hard to finish my pukipuki dollhouse, but like Kim said, their purpose is to give me joy, not to make me feel bad.

      EDIT
I've spend quite a bit of money on some accessories in my house (I'm still planning to buy a music box and they are surprisingly expensive if you want one that sounds nice). They don't get used at all, they just stand there looking pretty and yet I don't think it was a waste of money, because I like looking at them.

Point is, I don't think that the amount of money you've spend on something should dictate how you use it and for how many hours a day/week/month. Being happy with your purchase ought to be enough :).

    2. I have them all on display so like others have said, I see them every day but I only really touch them when I need to do something like give them a wig or an outfit, or when I want to take photos :)

    3. Nope, I don't interact with my dolls every day. I don't have the time. And I have zero guilt about this. They are just objects, and I own them so I can enjoy them, not so I can stress myself out by feeling obligated to cram one more thing into my already busy daily schedule. What would make me feel guilty is if I was prioritizing daily personal playtime to the detriment of my responsibilities to real live people.... which is what I personally would have to do to interact with my dolls every day.

    4. I try to interact with them every day. I do things like looking over and saying hi to handling them and putting them in different poses. I try to pose them a lot so things don't get stale or uninteresting. I would hate to get bored with the hobby just because things got boring.

    5. I go in cycles, every day, then hardly at all. But I'd never feel guilty either way. They are my playthings, at my whim. Sometimes taking a little break from them makes them more fun when I return. They are out and I see them every day. I'll usually mess with Kun weekly without fail. She is not my favorite but she just seems to 'want tending' more than the others. Lately it's been my Unoss, Genki. Are Volks dolls more needy??:abambi:

    6. Not every day, no. But close. I might skip a day or two but then play with them the rest of the week.

    7. I don't interact with mine every day, far from it. I don't feel guilty about it either because it doesn't mean I like them any less just because I give them some "alone time" ;) I do however feel a little guilty that I haven't managed to get a pair of decent pants for my first doll as promised though..... Poor guy...

    8. I don't really interact with them per-say, like moving them or changing wigs/clothes. I do however look at them everyday. I've recently moved (to China) and had to leave most of my dolls at my parents house, but I took Guy with me. I have a two bedroom place and the spare bedroom has a ton of shelves, perfect place for a doll shelf, but I couldn't put him there. I felt guilty because I wouldn't be able to see him everyday, like I would put him there and forget about him. I ended up finding a place for him in my bedroom so he won't get lonely :sweat

    9. I interact with my dolls more or less daily, but I don't feel bad if sometimes I don't have the time. It's not like neglecting a living friend, it can't make them feel bad or get mad at me.

    10. I don't actively do much with my dolls most of the time. Every now and then I'll take one or two out for some photos, but that amounts to maybe a few times a year per doll. I occassionally rotate the displays though, so I suppose that ups the active interaction a bit.

That said, all but three of my dolls are on display, so there's quite a bit of passive interaction just by virtue of them being out and being seen. Certainly no guilt for any of it though - they're just dolls, after all! :)

    11. Unfortunately for me, I don't interact with my dolls every day. I did when I got my first one but I simply don't have the time to play with each of them every day (I currently have 24). For the most part, they repose in their boxes (I have Idiot Cat and that's the safest place for them to be) unless I'm doing something specifi with them. However, I have pictures of them as wallpaper for my lap top as well as my computer at work, I visit various doll sites every day and I usually talk/email doll stuff, too. So while I may not always physically handle them, they are often on my mind.

    12. I do interact with my doll almost everyday. I've been making my own wigs, so technically I do interact everyday lately. But she usually just sits on her fancy shelf in my bedroom. :D

    13. I try to. Even after school or just a long day at work, ill usually lounge around the house with my doll on my lap or nearby.

    14. I have too many to have them all on display now, but I always have anywhere from three to seven of them sitting out in my room. I may not go and physically play with them every day, but I do get to see them. I wish I could see all of them on a daily basis, but in a way it's neat to rotate them out on display.

    15. With 1 BJD and 3 off topic dolls, it kind of hard not to interact with them just a little bit, even if it's just one or two, everyday. Especially considering I just leave them out in the open all the time.

The only time I might feel guilty is because of my boyfriend. They're inanimate, soulless, objects so it's impossible to feel guilty about that. But I have a lot of hobbies and interests that I change between and he makes me feel bad for it, like I'm wasting our money because I'm not participating in ALL the things ALL the time EVERYDAY D:

    16. I only have a doll head, but I give her a kiss on her head (hair) every morning and night... and when I sitting in front of my laptop, I always put her on my desk and pat her hair, and sometimes I taking to her... Call me crazy, but I love to talk to her... XD
When she will have body, she will sitting next to my bed or sitting on my desk... :D

    17. My poor littlefee hardly gets any attention- even if she's the main character in my stories. My pukifee however is played with and loved all day long! When I go out to run errands I hide her in my purse. She's just so stinking cute!

    18. Hmmm nope. I interact with them on a monthly basis...at most :sweat but I do make sure they're clean and looking pretty where I always keep them^^ oh just to clarify, all my dolls are always on display...I can't go on a day without seeing my dolls... that counts? lol

    19. I do look at them every day- at least twice a day really, since the room with my dolls and things is also where my closet is :D

    20. Absolutely! Fable's room is set up on one of my 2 dressers, so I see her whenever I'm in my room. When I wake up and go to my closet to pick out clothes I have to resist the urge to pick her up and cuddle her and all her adorableness! hehe
