Do you interact with your dolls on a daily basis?

Jul 24, 2013

    1. I try very hard to interact with my dolls on a daily basis, sometimes I don't even realize that I started interacting with them. Now when my family walks in on me playing my keyboard with my msd boy sitting next to me they don't even question me they just shake their heads.

    2. I do try to pay attention to them daily. But it doesnt always happen and I feel guilty when I dont.

    3. Yes, we communicate with our girls every day. We can just talk to them or play. Sometimes they are participating in our daily affairs =)

    4. I don't know how to play with my boy so I talk to him and brush his wig every day .

    5. No, I don't. I haven't even touched one in months. I don't feel guilty for not spending time with them, but I do wish that I hadn't bought the ones that I don't have room to display properly. I feel guilty about buying things that aren't being used. Although, I did have them all displayed at one time (before I got a cat), so it's not like they never had a purpose. Back before I got a dog, I did usually have a BJD nearby all the time, but I never really did much with them. I think most people get over the fear of damaging their dolls eventually, but I was always paranoid with mine.

    6. I will sometimes place a doll at my desk while I'm watching something on my T.V. or computer. I will also take a doll down stairs with me for a bit when I do other things around the house. My family does not even bat an eye at them anymore. I like to take a doll around the house if they have stable legs (be it sueding or they're naturally that way) because I like to straighten them out and hold them by their thighs when I'm sitting in a chair or just standing around. I mostly do this with my F60 Chloe sense she is wonderful to hold and sense her hip sockets are sueded I can hold her thighs like I want too. If I'm too busy that day I'll move some of my dolls arms into different positions or place something new in their hair real quick before I leave the room. It makes me happy to do at least something to one or two dolls in my collection a day.

    7. I dont have much time to hang out with my girl, as I have 2 jobs and school, but if I walk by her I'll poke her lil feet or pick her up and look at her then put her down!!!

    8. I interact with some of them on a regular basis. My bigger girls band (RS Ling, RS Chun, and IMPL Dorisy) I interact with more or less daily. Usually at least one of them sits on my night stand while I sleep. Or I set them up on my wardrobe in some sorta band members pose. Jack, my DZ Annie has been spending whole days out of her box in a doll stand on my dresser. I just bought her a dry-erase/chalk board so I can write stuff like

Don't even think about touching me
      -Jack ♀

I mostly only keep the dolls my family knows about out for long periods of time during the day. Some of my dolls I have't touched in months but they still mean something to me.

    9. Cissy is usually sitting on or near my desk, and even when she isn't I never leave her lying around 'un-posed'; I don't like her to look like a weird plastic object with her limbs splayed all over and at weird angles. I like her to look like a tiny little human who stares at me when I'm eating and sometimes holds small objects for me.

      Which... might be weird?

So yes, she is usually nearby and I like to move her at least once a day, or else I feel like I'm neglecting her.

Here Cissy, hold my tablet pen. Thanks. <3

    10. I actually do! I have to spend a lot of time at home, so my girl is usually sitting beside me watching me do whatever it is I'm doing :) I don't take her with me on trips or anything like that though, unless I'll be by myself. I guess I get embarrassed about it :sweat

    11. I definitely do. I keep my collection small as I am limited by by space and funds but love to change their pose or clothing/wig as my mood takes me. I try to make the most of the versatility of my lovely dolls, and as I keep them in the bedroom I often look at them as i fall asleep at night. I identify with Panbow and have to have them as little humans. They are always dressed and can't look as though they are uncomfortable. I like them to be looking at me or at each other. Their personality shines through.

    12. I do. Since I work at home, one of my two dolls always sit on my desk. I snap photos of them almost everyday too. :)

    13. I work 10 hour days, so i don't have a lot of free time during the week. Still, I'm paranoid about doing something silly like accidentally over-stretching her elastics or something, so I at least change her position on the shelf daily. It's not much, but I feel like I'm not going to accidentally damage her this way.

I don't feel guilty about it, really, because as someone previously mentioned, dolls are dolls to me, not like my cat with a mind and needs of their own.

Still, she's very physically pleasing to me, so I like to get to touch her, move her around, and fiddle with her hair. It's a tactile thing.

    14. Eh, sadly no. I don't have the time. My boys sit in their boxes the majority of the time. Poor boys.

    15. No I do not interact with them everyday but I do take a day in the week that I dedicate to them. It may be one every two weeks but I try to aim for once a week. I do take some of time to hunt clothes for them though even if it's not directly interacting with them I still feel we've done something though. Knowing their preferences makes it feel as though they are there.

    16. Not every day. I work most weekends and often have other things to do during the week. But I don't think I have any hobby that I do every single day. I like to switch it up a bit and keep things interesting. Doesn't mean I love my dolly any less :)

    17. I haven't interacted with my dolls in a couple of years. They've always been out on display, but aside from looking at them and enjoying how pretty they are, it's been awhile since I've even touched them. Now that I'm getting back into the hobby I've played with a couple of them-mostly changing out their eyes wigs and some outfits, but after that they go back on the shelf. I don't really take a lot of photos or see the point in taking them places with me, so I guess my participating with them extends more to their character (writing and drawing) and shopping around for them. I do wonder, if those who actually play with their doll every day are newer owners? I know when I was first into the hobby I absolutely loved to handle my dolls every day. Now that it's been a few years I no longer have that pull to constantly hold them and mess around with them.

    18. It may be a new owner thing. I remember when I got my first doll. I'd have him out daily even if I was just watching TV. Now after 6 years in the hobby, generally somebody (I have 27 dolls) comes out at least once a week even if it's just for clothes fittings. I am also fortunate enough to be able to bring my dolls in to work so a couple of times a month I'll bring somebody in to sit on the corner of my desk. I'm not restricted to just the tinies for that either. I've brought in my larger boys, too, who are 68cm.

But, months can go by before a doll sees the light of day (they're in their boxes 99% of the time due to space limitations and Idiot Cat). I'm mostly okay with that though although I would love to have a place where I could display them.

    19. I interact with them quite often. I cover them with one of the blankets provided by Mystic Kids when I go to work in the morning and fold it so I can see their faces when I come home. Sometimes I like to move them a bit so they are sitting up or are just in a different position.

I don't feel guilty at all when I don't take the time to uncover them or move them. They are dolls. The only thing that makes me feel guilty is skipping my weekly figure dusting, but this is mostly because I know my room is going to be dusty for another week.

    20. I try to spend at least a little amount of time with them everyday. Sometimes life gets busy though.
