Do you only like 'anime' style BJDS or more real-life human styled BJDs?

Dec 12, 2010

    1. I'm not a fan of anime-like BJDs.
I tend to lean more to the realistic looking dolls.
yet, I don't want them to be too realistic looking. I want them to have this 'unhuman ' touch. Like very characteristic eyes for example.

Plus, I love sad or dreamy looking dolls. That together with a realistic yet slightly unhuman mod, makes a gorgeous , enchanting doll !

    2. It depends. With my characters it's all about if it fit the personality. There are both realistic and anime alike dolls in my story. My tinies need to be anime like. I can't stand the realistic look in tinies, it creeps me out.

    3. I am relatively new to BJDs and am constantly amazed by the variety of BJD dolls available. I will be reading posts here on DOA and come across yet another company name. They say that variety is the spice of life and that couldn't be truer. I personally prefer the real-life human styled BJDs but a little fantasy here and there is nice, too...I'm particularly intrigued by elf ears and have a FL Pupu on order.

    4. Too realistic creeps me out just a little but I will eventually fold and fall in love with dolls like this.
Anime dolls kinda bug me a little bit. Not too much of a fan when it comes to the anime style bjds.

    5. I don't like the anime styled dolls, somehow they make me feel sick :S (no offense to anyone whom own one)
And to realistic bores me. I like the realistic/fantasy kind thought xD

    6. I like realistic - anime type :D I've been anime fan since I remember watching tv, but there are anime types I've never been attached to. My favorites are half realistic/half anime, something maybe like Akemi Tadaka works, and I'm looking for the same style in dolls. I have two BJDs from Dollmore, Lilis Liv and Dean, and their features are based on anime yet they look more real than these "real" anime styled dolls.

    7. I am more newer to BJD's so I haven't really seen anime looking BJD's but so far I do like the more realistic looking BJD's.

    8. In my case, it doesn't matter if the doll is more anime-type or realistic. I like both kinds a lot. However, when it comes to owning dolls, I prefer mine to have smaller eyes, non-pointy noses and generally more human-like features. Thus my favourite of my dolls is my Narae :)
However, I also own a few Minifee heads, which are not actually very realistic... so I guess it really doesn't matter that much when I like a mold~

    9. I take offense to this,( Just kidding thought.)

I only like anime-like molds. I have only one realistic one and it's a floating head.
I recently discovered that I hate the current fantasy types, unless they are of my own creation or "perfect" to my idea of how I want it to look like.
So If I want a doll with fantasy parts, I'm gonna just have to sculpt them myself.

    10. In my case it doesn't really matter. I have more 'human-like' realistic dolls in my wishlist as well as more 'anime-like' ones. As long as the doll is fitting to house my character that I have in mind they're free to look as they like. > u> Of course I'd like to note that -while I understand what you mean- when you say anime-like you are forgetting that each mangaka/artist may have completely different styles in drawing, and therefore there are actually realistically proportioned ANIME too.

    11. I like more realistic dolls for my boy dolls and anime styled ones for my girls. XD I can't help but coo over big-eyed tiny mouthed little waifs like Peakswood and Dollfie Dreams. I really wish the Dollfie Dreams were resin, the vinyl always sets me on edge because of the risk of staining.

I used to try and "match" the faces and get girls that were more realistic but i finally just broke down and admitted that i love big eyes and I cannot lie.

    12. I like distinct styles regardless of where it falls on the spectrum. When you look at a doll and you can go "Yeah, I know where that came from"? Yeah, that's what I normally appreciate most.

    13. Elysion gear: Don't scare me like that O.o''''
And again: Sorry if I've offended anyone with that comment!! ^^'

    14. Hana1167: *lol* Sorry about that. *Gives :starcookieb* XP

    15. Elysion gear: Your totally forgiven ^^

    16. I prefer more realistic dolls. I absolutely LOVE when I look at a picture of a doll and for a moment think that I'm looking at a picture of a person instead. This doubles when it comes to amazing faceups-- ie, where the doll is clearly in focus, the shot great, and just.. the faceup looks so lifelike that you're fooled.

Of course, this effect is harder to achieve with more stylized dolls. That not to say that there aren't some gorgeous ones out there, or that I'd turn one down if it landed in my lap. But as long as I'm fighting to save for dolls I don't see myself deviating from my more realistic boys.

    17. I am personally more interested in the more realistic looking dolls. I like to make my dolls look and feel like real people. Even though I am much more of a fantasy doll person, I just prefer a more human face, rather than one that looks more cartoonish.

    18. More realistic faces for sure. Also like strong features in general, good strong noses, wide mouths, realistically sized eyes with a good browbone. Anime are the ones with the pointy tiny noses and dot mouths and exaggerated eyes I believe? So then, not at all my taste.

    19. I like both. While my first one will be anime style, I love seeing photos of realistic looking dolls. They both are very beautiful.

    20. At first I like anime style BJDs,but now I prefer real-life ones
