Do you only like 'anime' style BJDS or more real-life human styled BJDs?

Dec 12, 2010

    1. I myself prefer realistic sculpts... such as elfdoll's vivien.. =P luv her so much... but I also would like to have a doll with stylized face... but on the other hand, I think different face ups can give the doll completely different appearance ^^

    2. As much as I love anime I don't like more anime styled dolls, if I wanted something anime like I would collect anime figures. Sounds weird I guess but that is how it works in my head

    3. i prefer anime style bjds than the realistic one

    4. Theres a limit to how 'cartoony' I like a doll, if its anime cartoony.
I don't want a doll that looks super anime, because translating an anime style into 3d looks very strange to me.

    5. I gear more towards the anime version dolls. I think its because I associate with bigger eyes with cute and innocent. and (no offense) but the realist ones kind of scare me.

    6. I like both styles. But, on the anime side, I definitely prefer the DDs that have more defined features. Rise is a perfect example of this.

    7. in between i think... i don't like dolls that look totally like anime (the reason why i don't like DDs) but i don't like dolls that look too realistic either...

i like them to have some detailed features, but not too much like real people.

    8. I think I like the human like the most, because I'm already collecting anime figures, so I like that my bjds are different than my anime figures in more ways than just that they are more poseable :P
But I'm waiting for two dolls I'm going to turn into anime characters, just with a more realistic look, like how they would look if they were human. ^^
And I'm having a third doll I'm going to make into a dreamworks character (Baby Tooth from ROTG), but I like my dolls to be more human like, because I find them more beautiful ^^

    9. Personally I love human-styled BJDs. Well, they are unique and lifelike, I would feel the bonding better ;)

    10. I dislike the dolls that look exactly like real people, because that takes away a certain aspect of the doll for me. Most of my pleasure comes from looking at my dolls, if they were life-like I would just look at pictures of pretty people.
I'm more interested in the beautiful, mature ones. However, I want exaggerated features, such as a small nose, perky lips, and larger eyes.
In the future, I would like to have one or two anime-style dolls, but I'm actually not incredibly fond of "cute" dolls.

    11. there are some dolls that I like that are anime-styled and some that I like that are realistic
but I prefer a combination of both features on dolls

    12. I like both for variety is the spice of life right? :kitty2

    13. I am a newer collector and find myself drawn to the more real-life human style bjd.

    14. I like both. I like the anime style because I'm highly into anime and I love that kind of style. I like the more realistic side to them because that kind of style can make them more unique and different. Anime style I tend to see repetition in faces while the more realistic looking dolls have more of a difference in thier faces.:)

    15. I like inbetween up to realistic. I don't like DDs, but I like more stylized dolls than the super realistic ones, though, I wouldn't say no to a realistic doll...

    16. i knew about bjd from watching an anime when i was young and i loved how they mixed dolls and anime together to create this interesting theme. so i would say i love dolls that has a slight anime feature to them :)

    17. I love Anime-styled bjds :) with a mature looking face (but not realistic)

    18. i like the realistic sculpts way better. i love anime and i still watch it to this very day, but i like my dolls to look more like a real person than an anime character. honestly i find the anime looking bjds creepy, and this is coming from someone that also collects anime figures.

    19. Seemingly I like the anime-styled dolls better (sculpt wise). And maybe it's because I don't want my dolls to look like real life mini humans. Don't get me wrong, there are very lovely human like dolls! But I'm somewhere in between. I do like that fact that my dolls have semi realistic face ups. Soms of them are actually based on humans. But I also do like fact that I can pick out every type of hairstyle for them ;) And that I don't have to worry about soming not being human-like.

    20. I personally prefer my dolls to have more realistic features, but there are a lot of anime-styled dolls which I really admire too ^_^
