Do you only like 'anime' style BJDS or more real-life human styled BJDs?

Dec 12, 2010

    1. I like more realistic dolls. I don't know why, they're just pretty to me. Of course, they can't be TOO realistic to the point where it's like a sculpture of a real person. The male dolls by Grenado, for example, are just a little tiny bit too realistic.

    2. I like more realistic sculpts when they are beautiful faces to me! ;)
Some are super realistic but ugly and scare me a bit!

    3. I think I am at the middle part of the two, not so anime but also not as real as a human. I love big eyes but I prefer human-like noses and lips.

    4. I think my preference falls somewhere in the middle, if the sculpt looks /too/ much like a real person it's a bit too uncanny valley for me, but dolls that have massive eyes and really tiny noses/lips look a bit too childlike and stylised for me.

    5. I have never been a fan of true anime looking dolls, personally. I prefer more realistic sculpts, the first doll I had ever seen was a realistic sculpt so I think that set my love of them, now when I look at anime dolls they look a bit odd to me~ ;v;

    6. I like more anime-styled after all that was how i got into BJD in the first place

    7. What got me into BJD was Kpop bands and korean fashion.
I would have to say i prefer more realism. like Souldoll. I do adore the style of luts doll and hope to get one some day. :D
I still like anime but have grown out of that phase since high school began. However, i am a big fan of combining realism with anime aspects. Hyung-Tae Kim is one of my favorite artist. I have waaay to many to count Feng Zhu is another. *_* i am going to leave it as is now...too many artist on my list to go through them all hopefully this helps.

    8. I like both, but I find the very anime-like dolls tend to be a lot more expensive!

    9. I really love how stylized FairyLand's dolls are. :) More of an "Anime" look really suits my characters!

    10. I am a newbie at this, so forgive me if I mess up! I love the more 'Asian' dolls, but they are out of my budget right now. I just ordered my first doll from impldolls. Her name is Melissa, and I guess she's more Western? I think she's gorgeous, and I ordered her with pink skin.

    11. She's more realistic than any of these: http://www.sqlabdolls.com/xe/doll, but she's still relatively stylized :)

    12. I am not a fan of Anime style dolls, I just like pretty and cute dolls, not exactly "realistic" I think some of the Iplehouse dolls are to realistic for my taste.

    13. I got a bunch of both! :whee: I can't choose just one style, I like too many of 'em. My first loves were the Volks Tokyo Boys, who are very big-eyed-anime-schoolboy styled, but with a ton of personality. Later on in history, I got a Limhwa Mano who's so hyperrealistic he gives innocent bystanders the Uncanny Valleys. There's a lot of sculptural styles in between big-eyed-anime and hyperreal, though, and I think I've got a couple of each of em. ^^

    14. I'm not a fan of anime dolls. Soom is my favourite company, and personally I don't see the comparison to Barbie at all - the style is completely different IMO. Barbie's features are hardly realistic - they're the made up 'ideal' of beauty queens and models, which is something Soom never even touches on.

I do like seeing the anime-style dolls others collect, but I'm happy to collect only realistic dolls myself :)

    15. I like both. And I have both of them.

    16. Echoing what many have said, I like dolls somewhere in the middle.

    17. Oh man the volks dollfie dreams scare me. I love all the other dolls, but those anime style ones just creep me out! So I am 100% pro realistic dollies <3

    18. Both really; but with a lean towards the more realistic end of things - Just because they're much easier to get looking how you want them! But a lot of my dolls are in that common in between style, like Parabox Gretel/Obitsu Haruka. - both are far from realistic, but definitely aren't anime/manga

There are certain anime/manga styles that I adore; but I don't often see dolls that look like representations of the style in question

    19. I prefer the anime look. I honestly don't like the natural look at all. I want my dolls to have big eyes and perfect faces :)

    20. I love anime and manga, and I love drawing that kind of style as well, so for me it's the obvious choice when it comes to dolls. Luts and Fairyland are my two favorite companies because some of their faces are so cute and I love a doll with a smile!
