Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you only like 'anime' style BJDS or more real-life human styled BJDs?

Dec 12, 2010

    1. I love human styled bjds but fantasy is really one step ahead.. those soom dolls.. irresistible @_@
For anime style bjds, it's their eyes I don't really like. Looks too fake to me.

    2. The first I was going to get was to be a Luts Honey Delf Taffy, and I obsessed over it for months, but than I started to slowly lose interest as i was saving up for it and started looking around more. Than I stumbled upon the Souldoll Ranbi, and was instantly in love because it was so cute and compared to the Taffy, it's eyes looked smaller and less alien-like/ bug-eyed.
So I guess I prefer the realistic sculpts. :)

    3. Realistic sculpts are my preference. I enjoy watching anime but the translation in to 3D BJD doesn't do much for me... the eyes and the noses in particular are odd looking to me in 3D form.

    4. I prefer anime styled BJDs because it is cool to see anime in life! Distorted proportions look more subtle in life. And also this may be due to the fact that I like more fragile, delicate boys and girls.

    5. I do not like anime style in anything at all, especially in dolls, so I prefer a more human style.

    6. I prefer realistic dolls to stylized ones. For me they're more versatile and they are seemingly easier to make more unique.
That's not to say that I don't like stylized dolls though. I really like some of them, particularly the ones by SQLabs.

    7. I mainly love rhe anime ones. I also love some of the more realistic ones (They have to have fair sized eyes though. The bigger the eyes the better a lot of the time).

    8. Hear, hear!

While I'm more "neutral" toward the anime style in general (I really don't care for it or about it either way), I find anime dolls to be hideous.

Their eyes alone are the things of nightmares! *_*

(No offence to those who collect them. This is a personal preference only. We cool? :))

    9. I like semi-realistic dolls, not too anime and not too human-like. I'm particularly picky on noses. Noses that are too pointy and unrealistic don't appeal to me. I think that's why I fell in love with Unoas, they have cute little button noses and are not too realistic.

    10. I prefer both styles, I have Iplehouse dolls (very realistic) and Dollfie dreams (anime style)

    11. I also prefer the smoother faces, but I'm all right with smaller eyes. Never been too fond of Soom faces personally, but I like to look at them. And I definitely don't like those super-anime girls with the giant anime eyes and nonexistent noses! Those are a little too dramatic for me.

    12. I love the anime aesthetic more so, as long as it isn't over-the-top. I think my favorite sculpts are realistic with anime style traits. :)

    13. I prefer the more realistic looking dolls. I like the look of some of the anime style but don't think I would own one myself :)

    14. I only like them in Playscale or smaller for myself. The little ones I started the hobby with like Dollfie Plus are still really cute to me.
But I like to see the larger ones in others' collections and look at new ones even though they really don't suit me.

I borrowed a friend's Dollfie Dream for a while, white skin, small bust, blue wig, exactly what I'd get had I decided on one but we just didn't click. Something in the face sculpt lacked warmth or expression to me. So I'll appreciate them from afar and stick more to realism in my own collex of larger dolls, occasionally just styling up a little one.

    15. I am not super fond of the extreme anime styled dolls, like dollfie dreams. But if it is a doll that has features that aren't necessarily of real human proportions, such as larger eyes or a bigger than normal head, but otherwise more realistic, I tend to like those. Realistic dolls are also beautiful, but maybe not one I would buy for myself.

    16. If I had my way, I would own no less than five Iplehouse masterpieces. They've been my favorite company almost as long as I've been in the hobby. I personally lean toward more realistic sculpts.

    17. I'm an anime junkie but I prefer non-anime dolls.

    18. Weird thing, I love anime but the dolls just don't look right to me. I have an Island doll and will be buying two Iplehouse and a Dear Mine soon.

    19. I prefer Realistic dolls over Anime as anime dolls look so unnatural for me.

    20. I like both and the mixture of semi-realistic semi-anime that a lot of companies have XD
