Do you only like 'anime' style BJDS or more real-life human styled BJDs?

Dec 12, 2010

    1. All types of dolls are beautifull, I prefer to buy realistic dolls, all my dolls are from Iplehouse, but if I have finished all the realistic sculpts I wanna buy, I will go for some Anime kind of dolls as well

    2. I like the anime style a tad more. i have 4 dollfie dreams compared to my one resin Minifee. Not to say I don't like more realistic scuplts. They just tend to belong to the more pricey dolls that I can only dream of affording one day. xP

    3. Well.... I really dont like Volks dolls or luts Mango.... but I love stylized dolls, don´t realyl liek those super realistic ones like dollshe

    4. BOTH! I have azone dolls and BJDs :P
      Love them all~

    5. I personally like a mix of both. Realistic eyes with more cartoony features and a realistic but slightly exaggerated body.

    6. I think that depends on how u style the doll, i have seen many example of "Anime" sculpt with realistic make-up, that's really amazing.
A mix of anime and realistic also very attractive to me.

    7. I'm sort of 'against' realistic BJDs at the moment, they sure are pretty but such realistic sculps wouldn't fit well in my collection.
My dolls are mostly in the middle, not overly realistic but I don't think they're anime style either...

    8. I'm torn between the two. I find realistic dolls a bit too realistic for me, because dolls are so versatile that they can embody practically anything we throw at them. Having a realistic sculpt detract that quality for me. However, I do love the looks of Implehouse dolls. I just don't know I would own any.

    9. I prefer the more realistic dolls. The anime style of dolls just don't seem right to me. I think it is mostly the nose. Most of the time it looks like they don't have a nose at all or it is a tiny little point. It can even brother me when watching anime when it looks like the don't have a nose.

    10. I like an in-between style that lean toward more realistic. I used to be really into anime, and collected anime figurines and all that, but besides a show now and then I'm out of the hobby these days.

If they're too anime styled I just don't feel a real connection to them. They just feel like another figurine to display and have sit around, and dolls that get too realistic get a bit uncanny valley for me.

So it's usually a more realistic sculpt that's fantasy themed.

    11. Realistic all the way, they are great for photography, sewing and drawing them

    12. I prefer semi-real BJD. But my little girl from Iplehouse - which is realistic :))))
So, maybe semi-real to real :3

    13. I definitely prefer more anime styled BJDs. My first was a Volks Link in 2005, and I chose most of my dolls to go along with him. I have also recently started adding Dollfie Dreams to my collection. Probably the most realistic BJD I have is Unidoll Jace, and I feel he just barely fits in with my current resin family.

    14. Even though I found bjds through anime I prefer the more human looking dolls.

    15. I like both styles, but I like a little more style "anime";
      ;)

    16. Anime style is kinda creepy to be honest

    17. I would say that I'm in the middle. Anime style doesn't interest me much and super realistic style scares me. This is when it comes to the sculpt/head: not too realistic, not too cartoonish. But when it comes to the body, I prefer more of a realistic style.

    18. I like variety. All my dolls are different. Some have the same sculpt, but they're different skin-tone in those cases. I have no problem mixing anime-y with human-y with alien-y. They're all buddies.

    19. I prefer anime style dolls. The ones that strive for ultra-realism tend to hit the uncanny valley hard for me.

    20. I prefer mine to be more stylized, not so realistic so they still seems more doll-like than human-like and I can do crazy styles on them or just being very normal, it leaves room for imagination. I realized I tend not to bond with my more realistic collection than the stylized one and keep leaning back to the old stylized dolls like Luts CP breakaway, el...etc after playing with more realistic ones like soom. So I guess it boils down to personal preference =)
