Do you only like 'anime' style BJDS or more real-life human styled BJDs?

Dec 12, 2010

    1. I like sculpts that are somewhere in between. Bigger, more anime-esque eyes, but with the facial detail of one more realistic. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot that falls into this category. Though its just as likely that I'm picky. :wiggle

    2. I think after all this while I've come to realize that my preference is usually more stylized sculpts but with realistic details. The overall impression should be realistic -but not quite-. To give an easy example, my IoS Chaos is exactly that. The size of his features, the shape of the face... he could be a regular human... only... there's all the details that make him not quite so.

    3. Even tho I love anime style, I for some reason don't like it in bjds that much. I prefer stylized realism with bjds (like Fairyland and Luts) and very realistic ones are nice too, but somehow seem too serious for me (like Iplehouse).

    4. I like anime style dolls. I collect dollfie dreams. Super dollfies are cuter and have been catching my attention way more then anime style dolls!

    5. I like cartoony dolls, like the ones with large eyes and lips.

    6. I actually much prefer the anime-styled bjds like Luts and Crobidoll. But definitely not one like DolfieDream. To sum it up, I like anime styled but with semi-realistic features.

    7. I like many different looks. I'm mostly drawn to the real yet soft and sweet looking. It's fine with me if they have a bit of cartoon look to them, for example fairyland dolls. Iplehouse dolls are the ones that first caught my eye though. I couldn't tell that they were dolls at first.

    8. OK - to give a visual of how Iplehouse dolls can cosplay just as well as the so-called 'anime' style:

    9. When I got into the hobby I was only interested in realistic dolls (the first doll I ever saw was iplehouse), but now I like anything pretty.

    10. I prefer dolls that are stylized and cute-like. I like the ones with big eyes, and small noses and lips best. I don't dislike the realistic ones though, I think they're cool to look at, I just probably wouldn't own one. I think I like ones that look like fantasy creatures best, like anthros or elves and stuff.

    11. I like the ones that are half and half. Honestly I like them both, but I don't think I could choose one over the other.

    12. I think my preference comes from the age of the character I have in mind, maybe their personality too? For a younger or more cutesey character I'd go with a more anime looking sculpt. For something more mature and dark I'd go more realistic!

    13. Well, I'm very new to the BJD world, and already my tastes have been changing. At first I was the most attracted to the adult, more realistic looking dolls. Now, though, I can see the beauty and art in the large eyed, anime style dolls. The one thing I can't seem to get behind is the pouty look, but who knows, maybe it'll grow on me!

    14. I tend to go for the more realistic sculpts... but I can really appreciate an anime style BJD too.

    15. I definitely prefer more realistic faces. I have an Iplehouse Gentle Soori, a Soom Lupin, and a Luts Ignis. Of the 3, I like the Luts the least because I feel like his face is kinda bland and boring compared to the other two.

    16. Realistic sculpts all the way.

    17. real, as i use them as models for my photography, but i like the fairy dolls too, with regular skin, not the blue or green ones. a fairies you can hide in tree hollows that are rotted out and take nice pics too..:)

    18. Definitely drawn more toward realistic sculpts. But I'm also interested in rounding out my collection by adding at least one anime style doll.
