1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Long is great, longer is too tempting to spend more on clothes and accessories. If I had opted for six instead of ten months with dollmore, I might not have fallen for the illusion I had any more extra money to spend.

    2. I like layaway. but I perfer to paid everything. but must say if you have to make a big order layaway is you friend, I like to use around 3 months. But if I ever find a doll that I really wanted that was pricer, i would think about a longer layaway.

    3. I prefer short to no layaways because I don't enjoy the feeling of owning money to someone if I don't absolutely have to, and I already have plenty of bills to keep track of without adding another payment for something.

A long layaway also increases the risk I would lose money if something goes wrong. If I'm saving up in my bank account and I get, for example, an emergency vet bill, I can just pay the bill and then start saving again. If I get the same bill and couldn't make layaway payments, I stand to lose the money I've already invested.

The only way I would do a long layaway is if something was very limited and that was the only way I could afford to get it while it was available. Otherwise that isn't my preference.

    4. For me, a lot of the dolls I have I got on layaway. I don't tend to keep a large amount of money on hand for doll stuff - the temptation is too great to spend it on other things.
But having a 3-4 month layaway was usually the sweet spot for me, maybe around a hundred dollars per payment. Which fit in perfectly with the amount I had budgeted out of each paycheck for other stuff. Then I do appreciate a longer layaway as well, since that would spread out the payments more, and give me more wiggle room through each pay period. But right now, I don't make the same kind of money as I used to, so most of my purchases aren't even high enough to qualify for some companies' layaways. :P

    5. I prefer long layaway periods, preferably over 4 months. As someone who is on a very tight budget, I would be more than happy to spend little amounts at a time in order to finally get the doll I fell in love with.

    6. I prefer short layway or no layway at all. I really don't like to be in debt. Ironic since that how America work but still. I usually only buy things that I can pay off right away. But if I dont have enough atm but will be within 3 months then heck ya i will do it.
Plus, I don't like 6 months or more because my situation may change within half a year. what i can't afford it or don't like it anymore because I got tired of staring at it through the computer screen. argh. too many what ifs

    7. Anything under three months is really difficult, especially if it's limited. Coming up with that sort of money when you aren't prepared is difficult, but if it was split between three months even... dropping a small amount makes it easier to snatch up. I usually just end up grabbing the long layaways so I can pay what I have immediately and then I pay the last two payment at the same time since I'm prepared.

    8. I prefer short layaway because I'm impatient. Though I prefer to pay in full, I did purchase a doll on the mp on a short layaway (3 weeks) because he is an unplanned purchase and I couldn't resist his cuteness. Since I prefer to plan out my dolls in advanced, I like to save up so I know I can afford it. Though having the option for layaway is wonderful for those unplanned purchases that I just have to have lol maybe I'll consider a longer one in the future, but for now I enjoy saving up.

    9. I prefer the method long 3-6 months, from my point of view is the most comfortable and not too long, and can also have other expenses during that time

    10. ...Longer because that way I get my money in order, I don't mind the wait but I can't really just spend a lot of money all at once either

    11. Personally I prefer short to no layaway because I don't like owing money (like others have already mentioned). If it is a basic doll, I will just save up until I have enough to pay in full. However, if there is a limited fullset that is released that I want, it's not practical to take $1,000+ out of my monthly paycheck to buy a doll. So for this reason I am thankful that companies offer layaway. I like 3 month layaways if necessary, and will try to pay it off early.

    12. I like the long ones. I always take the longest option given to me, because it allows for wiggle room in case something happens. I usually pay off early (3-4 mos on 6-month layaway is my norm), but there was one layaway that happened when our finances hit a temporary snag and one month I could only pay the minimum (thankfully I had paid it down enough that my minimum payments were pretty small). I managed to pay it off the next month, but I needed that safety net and it was nice to have it. I'd be fine with the longer layaways, too. I just would (hopefully) never take that long to pay a doll off. I don't like having money tied up longer than need be. :P

    13. LONGER!

Not that I LIKE them, but it's just easier to budget these big price items when I can pay small amounts at a time!

Plus, I like to think it keeps me from forgetting how much I just spent and just buying something else right after I've paid off something... I try not to do more than one layaway at a time--that would be even better... but I suck at self-discipline!!!!

    14. It depends. When I have the option to use layaway, I will. It helps me budget for the purchase and I always pay them off early.

    15. Depends on how much money I have. I do love long because if the company is going to make me wait 3months for a doll then why pay right away. If I want a doll and I am broke mint on a card has a 6month plan. If I strick rich, it's happens a few times I pay all at once and wait.

    16. I prefer to pay immediately. In exceptional cases a short installment. I don't like to collect debts.

    17. I pay in full usually but have chosen layaway once because I was curious about how it went. So it was only 2 months. I guess I prefer short layaway.

    18. If it's going to take a long time for the doll to be ready I would prefer to do a long layaway. To me it's more exciting to every month have something going towards your doll rather than just paying it off at once and then having to wait forever. If the doll is only going to be ready once I finish paying it off then I would prefer to pay it off sooner (I'm impatient :XD:)

    19. I think I'm learning towards short layaways. There's so many other things that I want that paying off one thing sooner so I can get something else would be suitable for me.

    20. I wish the Ciel Phantomhive had a slightly longer layaway due to how much he costs but I guess knowing he's paid off at the end of the month will be a relief. My Angell studio had a 90 day layaway (so 4 payments to spread out) but i'll be finishing that one early. I prefer 90 day layaways.
