1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you plan one doll at a time or do you go all in?

    1. OP I think I am a lot like you in that I'm making a list of dolls that I eventually want to buy, and that list may change before I buy one to cross it off a list! I've looked at probably a hundred (or more) BJDs so far, but I've been really selective about the ones I put on my list. And to even place one on my list, well, it doesn't have to be perfect, but it really has to grab me and shake me by the shoulders for me to even consider it! And as my tastes grow and evolve I'm sure I'll get even more selective about what I want. I think it all comes down to knowing yourself and giving yourself permission to like what you like! For some people that means only having an eye for one doll at a time, and for other people that means... they'll love as many dolls as they can!

You can be as strict with your dolls as you want, but ultimately I think it's good that there's also a lot of buying and selling within the community, which makes it easier to let go of old styles and refresh your list with new desires while feeling okay about old pieces of yourself going to a good home.

    2. I never looked for the perfect doll. At first my doll needed to be at a certain price range, so I listed some options and picked out the one I liked the most. With time and experience I developed characters for my dolls and then I knew how they will look in appearance. I experienced with a lot of different dolls and kept looking at some possible candidates sculpts that have always caught my eye, turn out those were the right sculpts all along.

    3. I generally don’t plan for more than one doll at a time. Honestly, I don’t always know what I’m looking for. It’s more of a matter of, “I’ll know it when I see it”. I used to create lists of dolls I like, but I don’t anymore. It just created this artificial pressure to get a doll that I may move away from in the future or stays out of my price range. It got to be too stressful.

    4. I go all in and buy dolls in the spur of the moment haha, I originally wanted 5 or so but within the last 2 years I’ve gotten 8 heads, 8 full dolls and half of those have faceups and most of them are bald. Haha, I really need to cut back and focus my energy on a smaller amount of dolls.

    5. Hehe, I bought two immediately because it had my first Grail as part of the duo and then I had two on layaway immediately after. And as soon as I finished them, I bought another that is on the way.
