It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you store things in your BJD's head?

Nov 5, 2013

    1. I had never thought of storing things in their heads. I guess it could make sense for things like eyes or hands, that you'd want to have handy for quick changes. Although the points about the sound and the potential damage make sense, too. The idea of some sort of ID in the head is great, though, and having some sentimental object for their personality speaks to the dreamer in me..... Hmmm, not really sure what I'll do.

    2. I'm not storing anything inside the heads except their eyes... I feel bad for them if they doesn't wearing any eyes

    3. I like to store gemstones in little baggies in my girls' heads, each specific to the qualities & energies they're said to inspire... LOL, superstitious a bit, but makes them feel more personal to me ; D

    4. The only thing I really "store" in their heads are the headplates that have fallen off (at least until I have time to re-glue them with a stronger glue). I've got two girls here whose plates popped off their heads, and the safest place to keep them is in the heads so I don't lose track of them.

With floating heads, I'll sometimes store their eyes (in a little bag) in their heads until it's time to assemble them, for the same reason--to keep the small parts from getting lost or separated from the larger parts.

    5. Most of the time their eyeballs and their rings. All my dolls wear rings of some kind (associated with their clan or the agreement they have with one another). But recently, I got extra hands, so I've just been swapping them out. Taking rings on and off actually takes more effort than swapping out hands.

    6. I store wigs in the doll heads when I'm taking them places, but other than that, nothing except the eyes the dolls wear. I'm too worried about damage and chipping.

    7. Wow okay this is officially the only way I want to be proposed to. Nothing less is acceptable :XD:

      Has anyone in this thread ever brought up those bjd's that have brains instead of S hooks? I think it was Soom Idealian... I'm not sure, I'm just coming off of a 2 year hiatus ^^;;

    8. I've been waiting for a topic like this, and I'm actually surprised that I haven't run across it before.

I keep fortunes inside their heads. Yes, fortunes as in fortunes from fortune cookies. I've collected about 50+ since I was a kid and most have been stuck in an empty CD case on a shelf. I think I once read where someone did something similar, I became inspired, and so now I go and pick one that I think matches my doll.

Because there's not much room, the fortunes don't seem to rattle around. I keep them standing so that the writing/ink doesn't touch the resin, but honestly I'm not too worried about it. They've never stained before (knock on wood), and I don't keep them in dolls that are for sale/being shipped. Not to mention at least one of my dolls came with the inside of her head a little messed up from a former owner (or perhaps during casting), so I don't see much of an issue. However, this is just a little quirk of mine and I can completely understand why some people wouldn't want to do this. :)

    9. I don't, but only because taking off the wig is too much of a hassle. I've definitely thought about it, though...

    10. Oooh that's such a cute idea!

I've never thought of storing things in my doll's head, but it's actually a pretty handy idea. I could see myself storing a piece of jewelery or something in there. But the perfumed baggy is also a super cute idea. ... I think I just might do this :P

    11. nothing beside the eyes :XD: i would most likely forget that i put stuff in there if i do it, i'm bad at that.

    12. I haven't, but I like the idea of putting something that represents their character in there. *Off to think*

    13. When I fist saw the topic title I literally laughed aloud.

The only time I've ever put anything into my dolls head was I sat her eyes and necklace inside her headcap while I was working on her faceup.

I don't take my dolls out of the house ever so I wouldn't need to put identifying information inside. If I still went to meets, it'd be a good quick place for a little magic eraser, extra eyes, or jewelry that may easily fall off with multiple people handling it.

    14. Whoa, I've never come across anything like that! As nifty and creative as that sounds, I wonder how bjd artists go about doing something like that. Do you remember what they looked like? I also wonder, how feasible and safe is it for the doll? How would it effect eye placement? Would it make it more difficult to change out eyes? This is an interesting concept, both in terms of doll design and head stashes! I'm definitely interested in learning more! :)

Speaking of gray matter and dolly head storage... The only thing I've ever put in any of my dolls' heads is a small stress ball shaped like a brain, which I put in Dita. It was originally a little Halloween joke, but it fits in there perfectly and doesn't do any damage - it actually helps keep his eyes in place! And that brain is slowly seeping into Dita's character, too. Multiple times, I've opened his head only to have that brain come flying out (no matter how snugly it fits against the inside of his head cap), and Dita looks so amused about it. I think he's developing a bit of a mischievous streak!

    15. Reminds me of the Polly locket from Aurthur tv show.

      The one Francine gives Prunella.

Anyway. I've never considered keeping things in their heads. I rarely open the heads of some. I should start keeping my doll saving money in there. I'd never find it. Then It would come as some huge surprise someday.

    16. I like the idea of putting perfumed satchels in! I might engrave Tripp's name in her head when she arrives. Actually it might be fun to paint swirls and crazy stuff in there. I like the idea of having the extra bits of personality! I hadn't thought of it before!

    17. That's actually a super cool idea! I had never thought about painting the inside of my doll's head before.

    18. never thought of this... but even if I wanted to I couldn't with my 1/3 dolls, there just isn't enough space, and I never open it anyway

    19. I remember that episode Czechmix! Wow, that was a long time ago.

I do love the idea of putting little perfumed things in their heads. I actually adore a brand of perfume that has a cheshire cat inspired perfume that I could get an imp of and put in my cheshire's head. That would be kinda neat, but I would have to figure out the best way to do it because they are perfume oils and I wouldn't want it to stain the resin even if it is inside his head.

    20. I started laughing when I saw the title of this post lol I've never stored anything in my dolls heads apart from the eyes and the eyeputty, but since they're all MSDs I'm not really sure if anything would fit well inside them.
