1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you try to order within your own country?

Feb 26, 2015

    1. I would, but there are very few people in my country who are part of the hobby, so there's very very few things I could buy from here.

    2. I try to order within my own country so that I can avoid massive amounts of TAX. Evil evil tax

    3. I'm lucky because I live in China, there are billion BJD stuffs on Taobao with reasonable price and cheap domestic shipping.

    4. For clothing an doll accessories, I don't mind ordering from outside the country. However the doll itself, I'd rather it be from where I'm at ^^' I ordered my first doll through DDE, feeling a little better they were going to handle the actual customs and not me

    5. I try to buy things from my own country too. Things are quicker and avoiding custom fees is a plus. But there's times when the item you seek is on the other side of the world!

    6. I would LOVE to buy BJD stuff from my own country. The custom fee is very expensive. :< Sadly online auctions are pretty much the only place to find some used dolls and clothes etc. (there isn't much there, I can tell you that...) at the moment, since there aren't any Finnish BJD forums. I hear there used to be one but it's been down for a year now? Or more?

    7. I don't intentionally seek out shops only from my own country, but it is a nice surprise when the shipping is low due to that. The other day I was going to buy a wig, didn't check what country it shipped from, saw the $50 shipping charge, and almost had a heart attack. Glad I stopped myself before I finished the payment! I hate missing out on good items because of expensive shipping, which is actually understandable and I would never ask if someone could lower shipping price, but I would rather put my money towards more actual items than expensive shipping.

    8. I prefer to on etsy, definitely, but... that doesn't mean I haven't filled up my doll-related wishlist with stuff from all over the globe. But I like having shipping on such small items as clothing for dolls lower.

My favorite thing is being able to buy in person at a convention, though. No shipping at all, plus instead of just trusting that we use the same measurement system for sizing things, you can hold an item, try it on...

    9. No I don't. I doubt there are many sellers in my country LOL. I usually buy from overseas, mostly China or Korea. There have been a few times I've bought from USA (through DOA) but shipping is more expensive for me to ship in from USA compared to other Asian countries so yeah.

    10. No. I live in a very small country, so usually ordering within my own is not an option unless I'm willing to wait years for a specific item or only buy from the limited selection that is available at the moment.

    11. There's actually plenty of hobbyists in Finland, who sew, do faceups & wigs :3 4 of them have etsyshops for clothing, 1 takes clothing comissions via ig and facebook and I think the variety of clothing size is quite good! There's clothing from pukifees to feeple60 available, so I think you are able to find someone who can make something for you dolls ^^
But sadly they are quite on the pricier side. Still I think it's worth the money, because the quality is very good and so is the service! Yet I have comissioned almost every single one of them xD

1 hobbyist takes wig comissions and makes alpaca wigs. If I remember correct, there's also 1 hobbyist who makes yarnwigs.

Our forum has been down since December, sadly D: I miss it so much! Hopefully someone is able to put it back up. Someone is actually working on it, if I remember correct. Or I think is, that's what I read from our facebook group :"D

    12. I try my best to buy clothes, accessories for my dolls within my country (Philippines) and luckily I have found some local shops who can sew bjd clothes and make accessories but most of the time I still order stuff for my dolls overseas.

    13. I would say I'm open to ordering from either my home country or from overseas. Like others have said, though, one of the downsides of ordering from outside ones own country is the cost of shipping.

    14. Oh! I would really love to find some of them. : 3 Sadly I'm not on instagram or fb.... I'm not a fan of social media. 8'D But I'll definitely look up some talented Finnish hobbyists when I need a custom wig etc. ^_^

Yeah, I heard they were trying to get the forum back. If they still are. 8D It's a shame it went down, it would have been such a useful place for Finnish BJD hobbyists. : <

    15. I try to only buy from my country but that is only because high shipping prices and bad experiences with international shipping. Though, I recently bought a doll from Lillycat in France and shipping only took 5 days! It was almost enough to make me trust in international shipping again. There are certain countries I won't buy from because I know there will be an extremely high shipping cost (ex. Australia) which is fair because the distance, or 2. I've bad shipping experiences from there.

    16. I prefer to shop as locally as possible, and I try to support my friends who are artists first. Sometimes I just can't find what I'm looking for so I use an authorized dealer. It works pretty well. However, I can imagine it being harder for some people depending on the country they live in...

    17. I buy from where ever. I avoid buying from the US (I'm in the UK) because the postage is ridiculously high but if I want it enough I'll pay it (right now I have some gorgeous hoodies I found on etsy I want but the postage from the US is putting me off ). So I'll pretty much buy from anywhere depending on the postage.

    18. I try for in the US first but it is just so difficult! Especially if you find somthing in the US that is 5 or more times the price than if you get it from overseas!

    19. Mostly buy from China as there always have the doll I wanted so much.

    20. If I'm buying a doll, I'll seek ones in the country. If I'm looking for clothes, wigs, eyes, whatever else my doll needs, buying from outside my area is not too much of an issue. The wait and package tracking can make it fun!
