1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you upgrade your dolls?

May 23, 2024

    1. It depends, I won’t usually upgrade fullset dolls or dolls that are matching each other unless I upgrade both at the same time, but if I have pieced together my own doll I will often upgrade to things that are either of higher quality or suit them better, maybe even to a new style

    2. I won't upgrade a doll that is already perfect to me, but if I have a doll that isn't quite right somehow, I will keep trying to fix it until it is right - like commissioning a different faceup. I can't put up with a faceup not being right for me and will eventually either change it or sell. But once it's right I will keep it forever!

I had never intentionally done a full reshelling of a doll before until recently! I upgraded my Delf Breakaway 08 to the 05 version. I had always wanted the 05 so when I saw one for sale I took the opportunity to do the swap. I'm so glad I did! It was well worth the effort and spending a bit more to get my dream Breakaway!

    3. I recently wiped faceups off of a lot of my dolls and washed them from head to toe, then redid the faceups and body blushing. I felt that some of the older dolls needed it. They still play the same characters, and the changes are not major, but as I have gotten better with faceups and body blushing I think they all look much better. I also managed to get rid of some of the yellow that was beginning to show.

    4. My Dollmore Trinity Elysia has also received multiple upgrades: blushed, jointed hands, blushed heel feet, shoes from Dollmore (and size 5/6 toddler shoes at local stores), and all the outfits...

I think she has almost every wig Dollmore sells now.

    5. I usually keep them as is. My first doll is probably the only one that I rotate their look every once in a while, but most of the others I keep default in their original outfits they came with. There are a few where I didn't quite like their original outfits or wigs, but nothing too drastic. I kind of consider certain dolls like art pieces that I keep original whereas others I let my creativity flow. Just depends on the doll I suppose and my mood. Haha.

    6. Yup, one of the reasons why I stuck to vinyl is the ease of replacing and upgrading. Recently upgraded a few of mine to f3 bodies and looking into more flexible legs for more posing options. With that said, I do keep a few ancient ddi/ii bodies around for histories sake

    7. Definitely :whee:. Not as extreme as changing the whole dorrie sculpt though: just additional resin parts like horns, jointed hands and also custom face-ups.
