1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Angelsdoll has a new Massive boy body which is similar to the Idealian and EID boys. I can't speak to the posing abilities, but if there haven't already been some comparisons posted in the Angelsdoll thread, I'm sure the people there would provide if asked.

EDIT: And my boy measurements chart might help you in your search. I think I need to add Idealians, though.

    2. I did look at the Angelsdoll Massive bodies... they just look like they have really thick arms and shoulders. I'll check out the Idealians, though, thanks! I'm not really worried about how heavy they are; I'm pretty strong and if I ever go to meets or cons (rarely) I have shoulder harnesses to strap them in to. :)

EDIT: I found this comparison photo: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...72cm-Part-II&p=6634606&viewfull=1#post6634606

    3. Spiritdoll has a "Herculean" sized doll.

    4. Thanks! Too many companies to keep up with, missed that guy. He looks more posable than the EID. Not sure if he's too tall... Love the muscle detail, though. I might have to look into one of those! :)

    5. Heh, catching up with the new thread...

Because of the lack of BJD-themed cons in the vicinity, I went to one of those dolls-and-bears thingies. There was one on yesterday not too far away, and I managed to drag a friend along. It was great fun! She's the only one of my friends who is even remotely interested in dollies. The fact that it wasn't a BJD-only event made it interesting for her too - there were fabrics and buttons and all sorts of tiny items to be found. I scored three doll stands at an excellent price, and this time there were wigs and eyes in BJD-appropriate sizes. I bought a leather bag for Gwalchmei and some blond eyelashes, so Florie is probably going to get her eyelashes glued in today :).

I had been told at the last doll meeting that dolls-and-bears events don't feature any BJD-related items and that the people who go there aren't at all interested in BJDs, but I had brought Gwalchmei along because I'm really bad at estimating the size and proportions of miniature things, and he drew quite a few curious glances, comments and questions. It was fun - even though one lady (who happened to be the one other person with a BJD in the room O_o) asked me how many dolls I owned and then proceeded to say I must be awfully well-paid and/or a real spendthrift :/. Fortunately other people were really positive, and the one lady who wanted to get a BJD herself wasn't at all surprised at how they are priced. Why do people feel the need to tell other people how they should spend their money? I wouldn't be buying these dolls if I couldn't afford them, and I can buy three expensive dolls for the price of one city trip. But somehow people don't get chided for doing city trips. Huh.

I also realised while carrying Gwalchmei that I won't be able to put off a restringing much longer... His (double-jointed) legs went crazy even as he sat. He still poses really well though, and I dread restringing... Ack. Procrastination much?

Edited to add that today it's exactly one year ago that Gwalchmei appeared on my doorstep :D...

    6. Sigune- I'm glad that you had fun at the dolls and bears show. That's nice that people seemed interested in your doll. It's kinda rude though to comment on the price I feel. I'm always so wary of giving a price. I always avoid it if I can.

A while back, I brought some dolls with me on a trip to my parents' house. I mostly wanted to show my mom the dolls, but my dad came over and just started being rough with them and not handling them very nicely! I had to keep telling him not to touch the faces! Finally he said "how much are these things?" Ijust said "a lot". But he pressed me so much, I finally told him the price. He was so shocked! He finally just put my Daria down in a huff and said "I don't get it" and walked away.

I'm almost 30, but man.... stuff like that still makes me feel like an awkward teenager.

    7. I certainly avoid naming exact figures when talking to anyone who isn't genuinely interested in the dolls. But this one lady was honestly looking to buy one - she asked for straightforward info about prices, companies and dealers, so I didn't mind telling her exactly how much. The price didn't faze her at all. The second lady... Well, since she owned a BJD, I really didn't expect a nasty reaction from her O_o.

Parents can be weird. No matter how old you are, they always see you as a child ;). My parents aren't too fond of my dolls either, but they are used to me and my strange interests by now. I would never, ever tell them how much I've spent on my crew though :p. I'm 32, but they'd scold me!

    8. glad you had a great time at the doll and bear show Sigune. i go to those around here because there just isn't anything else. and they may not have much in the way of bjd's, but i can find a few things. the last show i went i was carrying my doll and i put her hands in her back pockets cause i kept getting stabbed lol! an antique vendor asked me if she was scratching her a**. i stared at her for a few seconds and walked past her without a word. sometimes i have no idea where my patience comes from.

    9. Sigune- Sounds like a good show!

The last Doll & Bear show I went to was a real let-down doll-wise; almost every vendor there was selling either vintage/antique collectors dolls or the OAK dolls they had made. There was only one person selling fabric, and most of it was white. No wigs, no faux-fur, no shoes, not even any buttons. :( There were no BJDs, of course, and I didn't expect to see any. But I'd brought my Little Fee with me on the off chance that I found a pair of shoes that might fit him, and he got a lot of attention.

    10. Kolombe, Congrats on Callum's arrival! Your box opening was great :)
hehe also your dog is very cute ;)

    11. Hi All *waves*
Congrats on Callum Kolombe, I will watch your video at home properly, but have peeked at the end to see him (at work at the moment!)

glad to hear you got to get some bjd shopping done at the doll and bear show Sigune, not sure if they have anything like that here... definitely now bjd cons.

I had a great non dolly week (hence my absence) which culminated in the birth of my second niece (also second grandchild on both our and my sister-in-law's family) late on Saturday night. Her name is Esme' and she is adorable (I am so clucky and have been for years, I melt around babies!)

I finished a knitted top from a dollswest designs pattern, that came out ok (a bit uneven tension here and there) - just one of the free yo-sd sized ones. And I got notified this morning that my Q-baby is on it's way to me now :D She is puki puki sized and will live in a doll house I am going to re-vamp. and I totally stuffed up a yukata, but I am sure the next one will be fine.

There is a miniature/dolls house show on here next weekend (would be puny compared to anything you've seen they are using a library hall) but I am hoping to snag some props or at least some house hardware that I can't make myself from there.

Hope everyone is doing well in and out of dolly land!

    12. Congrats, Kolombe!

Spent the day making Rylin a new (and totally different) wig. The boy has had the same wig for 4 years, so this is really a big deal for him! The good news is that it looks great on him... the bad is that it doesn't photograph well. :P It's that shade of purple that the camera thinks is blue in most light, and it doesn't pick up the subtle lilac middle color as well. A little photoshop enhancing helps, but it still bums me out. You disappoint me, Canon....

Rylin also got a new shirt (Bejeweled, most adictive game ever) in teal, and som nice purple and black arm warmers to hid his KDF elbow joints and match his hair. I was afraid he'd look a bit too punk and not like himself, but he really does look super-cute with (mostly) white hair! He'd been wearing his favorite darkwing duck shirt since I got him, and it was high time for a wardrobe change. :)

    13. Is anyone else having trouble with DoA tonight? Thanks Saphire, Quanita and Cymorill :)I love Rylin's new wig...great!

    14. Cymorill, your boys wig looks great and his clothes look good. lucky boy!

    15. Yargh - yargh I say once again. My birthday was on Sunday and so, being as I work weekends, it spread like a stain and ate up last Thursday almost entirely as well as today. *_* I've pretty much been run so ragged lately that I had no time to even pop in here! *drops dead on carpeted flooring*

Cymorill - Rylin looks so sweet in his new outfit and wig! (It reminds me that I should check Ebay, as Yue and Betta both desperately need new wigs ... if only so they have one to wear while I (finally) get off my butt and clean their first/ default ones.) :sweat

Semi-dolly stuff update: Yue got to go see the new "Total Recall" with me earlier tonight; I'd hazard to say that he likely enjoyed it more than me since he had nothing to compare it to ... unlike the fleshy human he was being held by. :|

Fully doll stuff: Broke down and decided a birthday present for myself would be more doll clothes for The Roommates. Yue's getting a new shirt and pair of jogging pants, but the bulk of the order is more stuff for J.J. to get to wear. Also, being as he's an SD, he's getting his own hand-made quilt to call his own. (Tai has nicely been sharing, but J.J.'s feet stick out a bit because everybody's trying to be under Tai's quilt ... and it's not going along with the program.) :sigh

    16. Thanks guys! I think he needs a choker of some kind, though. Fur wigs are so fun!

Happy birthday, Kamehane! Funny how a present for yourself turns into a present for the resins! ;)

    17. I think a blue or white choker would work, but I don't know if that'd leave him with an overdose of either color ... though the white would go well with the symbol on his forehead.

And thanks for the birthday wishes! :D As for the present for me --> present for them thing ... well, I thought that was just the way that it worked. Or am I somehow wrong in this thinking? Oh well, in this case I'd rather be wrong than 'right'. Besides, I got my little 'Roomies' so that they'd brighten my day, and with a friend who actually makes the majority of the clothes I buy for them ... well, then I'm making her day as well! :)

Just goes to show you how right Miss Dolly (is that name not just all shades of ironic right now?) Levi was when she quoted her 1st husband: "Money, pardon the expression, is like manure. It's not worth a thing unless it's spread around, encouraging young things to grow."

    18. Gah... I was right to fear for my bank account... the Sellers Room at the Austin BJDC was huge. Lots of doll-makers, doll companies, and clothes designers/makers... and tables with accessories, furniture and props. Agh.

They gave away a number of dolls at the final Banquet, too. I didn't get any of those, which was just as well, since it wouldn't have fit in my luggage. I had a hard time fitting all the table gifts and door prizes as it was...

I went on my own, although I knew some other folk who were going. If I worried about having people to go with, I'd probably never go anywhere... And I'm not a terribly social person... I just know that I need to push myself to do thing that I know I'll ultimately enjoy, even though it's a bit of a bother and I'm not sure I want to deal with it.

The BJDC is held every other year, and if I can, I'll try and go again. It really was a lot of fun. This one had an average age that was a bit older. And it had a lot of Off-Topic for DoA dolls. But Ms Cholong was there, and Doll Peddlar and Still Plays with Doll--with lots of DollHeart. And Jpop Dolls with lots of wigs. And PamSD and clochette's PixieDust designs, with all their clothes. It was great. and I rather like many of the Off-T dolls... got three of them... all tinies, from The Mushroom Peddler and Kim Lasher...

I'm looking forward to going to the San Diego Mini-Con in November. It's smaller, but safer (spending-wise). And really a lot of fun. Good people and beautiful dolls. It's all good to me! :D

I hauled my Iplehouse Tedros to the BJDC... The theme was "Enchanted Seas"--so lots of Pirates and Mermaids...

    19. Sounds like a good time, I'd like to go to one of those. DO you know the dates for the upcoming one in san diego?
