1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Does anyone else compulsively look up pictures of dolls they ordered while waiting?

May 30, 2021

    1. Lol I do that too! I like to pop pictures of the doll I’m waiting for into photoshop and plan out faceups, wigs, eyes, and outfits on it. It’s a good way to “try on” things before purchasing. I’ll mask off pictures of wigs, eyes, and clothes to get rid of the background, and overlay them on the doll picture like one of those old online dressing doll games haha. It’s very rough photoshopping, but it gets the job done, lol!

    2. Yup I do and even continue to do so even after I get my doll if I like the sculpt enough. :D

I also spam reload tracking numbers when I get them even if I know it’s not moving yet. XD.

    3. I do, mostly for bodies. It is a genuinely bad habit, because sometimes it causes me to become biased or doubtful towards the doll before I even receive it, if I find unflattering images! A couple of times I have come to the conclusion that I'll be parting with the doll as soon as it arrives,. I try to do my research as well as I can before ordering, but it's inevitable I find new photos or sth new is published during the wait time.

    4. I haven't done it much before, but now that I have been waiting over two years for a doll from Dollshe, I've been looking at pictures of his sculpt pretty often. Someday my prince will come.

    5. Yes!!! I just ordered my first doll and I have the promo pictures of her saved on my phone and a screenshot of the measurements in a notes file just in case! sometimes I'll try to find customer photos of her too just to get an idea of what she'll be like when she finally arrives :chibi
      yes...soon! :shudder
(sort of? I have mine on a 9mo layaway)

    7. I have to give a big "Oh yeah!" to this! LOL I'm waiting on one body and two full dolls right now, and keep finding myself looking at them without even realizing I'd gone to the page. :sweat

    8. I totally did with my first doll. I wanted to keep reminding myself of the sculpt so I could make faceup plans and character ideas.

    9. I do. And I go back and forth looking at the same exact pictures everyday. Its like an OCD thing almost. The anxiety of knowing that doll is coming and you want them to look a certain way so you keep looking for inspiration and ways you can make the doll look the way they look in the pictures you like.

    10. I always follow a doll’s hashtag on Instagram once I start getting seriously interested in them. Company/artist photos sometimes aren’t enough for me to get a good grasp on what a sculpt actually looks like, so I really like being able to see other owners’ photos with different faceups/eyes/wigs. I stay followed to them after they arrive because I genuinely love seeing what other people do with the same doll, especially if it’s a brand new release that everyone is getting at the same time.

    12. I am definitely guilty of doing this. To the point that when I was paying for Tori I had pictures of her as my desktop background.
Now days I usually just go to look at the specific listing again and again until I get the doll. :XD:

    13. I have a green ResinSoul Dai on the way and I’ve been looking at so many green dolls to see what color faceup would work for her!

    14. So I'mma stop reading doa in order to go stare longingly at my Doll Family A Max right now k? Lmao

      Big mood :)

    15. Yes! I also have to search photos beforehand as well to make sure I will really like it. It doesn't help if it's not a particularly new sculpt that people haven't taken photos of yet.

    16. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
I do it to remind myself that I do have that doll. It was a long wait for my first BJD Dollzone Taru and I still felt the need for getting a doll because she wasn't physically there yet, so I kept looking at more dolls. I would stop myself and look at pictures at Taru to remind myself, yes, I DO have a doll.

Now that she's here, I've almost entirely lost interest in other female dolls. Now I'm looking at male dolls as I wait for my Doll Legend Yue, the cycle never ends lol.

    17. I don’t only do that all the time, but I also look at the pictures I took of my dolls all the time when I’m not home or having them out.

    18. I do this when I purchase a doll and I am waiting for it. Or I look up other owner's pictures.

    19. Heh, I purposely forced myself to stop looking at pictures after I ordered my MYou boy, though I obsessively stared at them before I got the courage to do so.

Mostly because I knew if I kept looking at the pictures I'd be in love with that exact face and style, but the chances of his face up matching perfectly was very low. Now that he's here and I'm still madly in love, I checked the pictures again and I was right - the expression is slightly different, but enough so that I would have been disappointed if I been keeping to a 'template'. The months long wait had dulled enough tiny details that I could enjoy my doll when he arrived rather than comparing him to an unattainable perfection <3

    20. Yes! And I have to keep telling myself to stop, because it just makes the waiting harder.
