1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Does practicality influence your doll choices?

Apr 21, 2010

    1. it doesnt have to, but since these are personal opinions, yes. I'm going to stick to Yo's b/c I can work with them, below I feel are too small, and above too big for me to deal with safely. I dont ever want to know that I broke a kneecap or something retarded, or the knees bent and I lost a wig or the head hit something hard, etc. yo's seem the best size for me conceptually too.

    2. The only doll living with me atm is La Creatrice (MSD, ResinSoul Yao), and while my husband and I both adore her, I'm really impatient for the 65 cm SD doll I ordered in September to arrive. I really like to sew and knit and all the fine detailing that makes things really beautiful is sooo much less stressful/painful to do for bigger dolls. (size 000 dpns KILL me! It looks pretty when I'm done, but dropped stitches will be the death of me) Generally speaking, I think SD & MSD sized clothes just look more to scale and pretty (ie fabric weight, seam bulk, drape, etc.)

So I guess, size is a practical consideration for me. As in designing and making things for them to wear should be challenging for me in a good way, not a oh-god-in-heaven-why-did-I-think-this-was-a-great-plan way.

    3. Only in one aspect have I allowed practicality to influence me and that is the size.
I've had the chance to hold and watch over a 1/3 doll and a 1/4 doll and...
The 1/3 sizes are uncomfortable big for me. Some might be good looking, but...

      Yeah.
I've decided to limit myself to 1/4. This also allows me to build them a 'house' and furniture.
The only downside is, that I like to have them look like teenagers or young adults or adults and some just look... like kids. To each her or his own, and I've found dolls in the size that were instant 'love at first sight', but it annoys me a little that just cause the doll is small-sized many companies seem to think they MUST be kids -.-

Oh well... :3 I'm happy with the choice and the restriction I put onto myself so far, despite still waiting for my first two BJDs and planning the fourth XD
