1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Does your lack of creativity limit your enjoyment of the hobby?

Mar 12, 2013

    1. I have to second this, I think I'm just ok at drawing, and very slow, but much better at working in 3d. My brother can't draw to save his life but he can make beautiful carvings out of wood. Everyone has their own strengths and their own methods, just because someone has to have a perfectly executed sketch in order to translate to 3d doesn't mean everyone does. Some people just work better straight on the full project, so long as they have a rough idea and maybe some dimensions.

    2. I have a lot of creative skills but I lack the enjoyment of them - I find it very hard and stressful to do anything creative. I originally intended sewing for my dolls, but found it so stressful as I lack patience with mistakes. Really for me the enjoyable thing with dolls is shopping for them, buying them things, finding the perfect outfit for them etc. I think shopping can be creative in a way too as it does involve a lot of judgement, mental comparing of images, retaining information, problem solving, aesthetic choices and budgeting - I find it much more fun if I'm on a tight budget as I'm so happy when I find a bargain!

Photography is a nice way to record my 'finds' but I'm not very creative with it - just photograph my dolls wearing their new clothes or whatever. But really all doll photography depends on having either interesting scenery or interesting clothing or accessories - I guess I could go in search of scenery or accessories, but I am too lazy :sweat

For me a hobby should be something which relaxes you, occupies your mind and brings you some pleasure in life - If sitting a doll on a shelf and gazing at it does that for you, then more productive creativity doesn't matter - you shop creatively and you style your doll creatively - surely that is enough for a lot of people. Each person will have their own reasons for enjoying the bjd hobby - I don't think any reason is better than another, so long as you enjoy your dolls in your own way :)

    3. I think my inability to sew limits my enjoyment- I love costumes and the creations people make, and I can even use a sewing machine and do basic stuff! But I cannot for the life of me sew tiny clothes...
