Doll Chateau-Too skinny?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. They are quite skinny I'm not denying that.
But I think it suits them!
They have this creepy/Tim Burton/fantasy thingy going on and I love it!

    2. DC are very skinny, but that is just an aesthetic quality of the comapny. They are just dolls, so skinniness doesn't really matter. They do have an artistic, wispy quality that is very unique. There will always be someone that doesn't like it, but that wouldn't stop me from getting what I want. I have people that are very close and dear to me that really, really dislike my dolls and figures, so I just don't bring it up around them :)

    3. Some of their sculpts are artistic and I like them, but some look too skinny in my opinion. I also think it looks hard to find clothes that would fit. But to each their own. The facial features are different in a good way. I'm just not a big fan of the bodies to be honest.

    4. DC was the first company I came to love, and I don't think they are too skinny because they are art.
Their bodies have an elegant look about them.

    5. It's not just they are too skinny. I don't see them in the same category as other dolls. They are more like art dolls. They are not meant to represent realism. I can definitely see how that would appeal to someone, though they're not my cup of tea.

    6. It's not that they're skinny. I don't see them in the same category as other dolls. They are more like art dolls. They are not meant to represent realism. I can definitely see how that would appeal to someone, though they're not my cup of tea.

    7. I think it's just their style. I really think they're very elegant, and unique dolls. But i can see if there was a history of ED that it might be a trigger. But barring that, I think it shouldn't be a problem. :) I'd personally love a hugh head on the Matthew body with wings.

    8. DC dolls are very skinny. I do happen to have a girl body, but i love it. very artsy :)

    9. If a doll calls out to you and touches your heart, buy it. Do not analyse why you like it, do not wonder or worry about what other people will think of you or read into your doll choices. The doll is for YOU. No one else should get a say. Ignore what is trendy, hip, popular, "in", hyped, raved about, recommended ... blah, blah, blah. Pay no mind to negative comments made about you or the doll. Go with your heart.

    10. The DC bodies remind me more of skeletons than of skinny people. I think they're supposed to reminisce of skeleton-like figures, with their horroresque themes and stuff.

    11. Personally, I love the bodies that DC comes up with! I appreciate that they have their own style and you can always recognize a DC body right off the bat. Honestly I believe than they're more dream-like and ethereal, not really human, and so they don't affect my body image any more than seeing someone walking their grey hound on the street. They can be a bit jarring at first, but I kind of like that. It may not be the best thing to do, but I like to show off my DC boy, it usually shakes people out of the "dolls=barbies" mentality.

Since I don't have any other dolls, I don't know it would look standing beside a different company's doll. There's bound to be a noticeable difference, but I guess it depends on what you're going for character wise.

    12. I agree with Wiske, they remind me more of skeletons than just plain skinny people. I'm not to into it but there are some dolls of theirs that I really like.

    13. DC are just stylized... far from realistic skinny... and I love them for it. xD They're just perfect for those characters of mine that they're meant to be as far as I'm concerned... I absolutely love them... aesthetically they're my favorite company.

    14. Not at all. However, I would love to see what DC could do with other body types. Something tall and muscular or robust.
