Doll Leaves Mini [45 cm] Discussion part 4

Jan 10, 2022

    1. Hi guys, I just have a quick question. How well do very tight minifee clothes fit on the teenage dream body? I mean things like a leather pair of pants or skin tight top that won't have a lot of give, but just a little.

    2. the teen bodies are pretty skinny.... I don't have a minifee or anything that I know was specifically made FOR minifee but I do have a lot of "slim mini" clothes which are often listed as "minifee sized" which fit well.
But I can't confirm if specific things would fit.

    3. I don't have a minifee either, but almost all of my regular MSD clothes from acbjd are too big for my DL MSD

    4. For tops and some dresses, "slim mini" works great. For pants and tight skirts--no. Ask me how I know.

    5. Has anyone here ordered the Rabbit?
I really liked her, and Leilia, I'm unsure between her two versions. Does anyone have photos of both versions of Leilia? I would really appreciate it! :)

    6. I would like to share with you my always sad girl - Salem (Doll Leaves Wish) :)

I need to find other eyes for her, these one are too dull for my taste ^^'

    7. @Caramello_Cat Oh, she is pretty. I don't often see Wish as a girl, but I think it really works!

    8. I LOVE the iridescent green you used in her tears. Can you tell me how you kept it shiny? Was it added after spraying?

    9. Thank you <3 I wasn't sure if this facemold could work as a girl but with this faceup I think it finally worked ^^

Thank you, that's my favorite part too! Yes, I add them after I finish makeup and spray it with mr. super clear. I mix these iridescent flakes with a little bit of the gloss I use for doll lips and just paint with such a thick mixture. Or sometimes I paint a clear coat on the eyelids and then apply the dry flakes. It depends on the specific flakes I use and how small the detail needs to be. But the finish is always the same, I just add another layer of translucent gloss on the iridescent area to protect it well. In the case of these tears, I might have used a semi-gloss finish if I remember correctly :)

I hope this is the right thread to post on, I'm still new to actively using DoA.
One of my favorite ways to play with my dolls is to redress them, and find which random pieces in my vast clothing collection can fit unexpected dolls. (She's a doll leaves Ida, and yes she has hands I just didn't feel like putting them back on after stabbing myself with the s-hook.) I made the leggings, and the top has been languishing for ages looking for a home.

    11. @PoppyVengeance It's a very good thread to post in, we all love to see what you do with your doll! But be aware that it's one picture per post here in the discussions threads, as the focus is meant to be on the discussion.
If you want to show off stuff you've made, the workshop is a great place. You can start your own thread for a project, of you can post in one of the more general crafting threads. Look around for the proper one.
If you just want to show of "pretty pictures" in general, the gallery is a good place.

Drusilla looks great in her outfits!

    12. Oh okay, sorry about that. I'll delete the extra photos. Thanks for the info!

    13. I didn't know that the Doll Leaves girls could wear some of the Barbie or Rainbow High clothes! (If I identified the clothes correctly) The dress you've made was super cute, your Drusilla looks great.

    14. Yes, this top is barbie! (Barbie x Jurassic World, if I'm remembering correctly). And she can wear some of the RH boy tops, if you don't mind (sometimes extreme) crop tops :)

    15. Did you guys see the news? They're discontinuing all their dolls :o (and will be releasing some new ones soon)

I'm surprised it's all of them honestly, I'd understand discontinuing few oldest ones that just aren't selling well anymore or the molds are getting weary but literally all of them? That's surprising and not in the positive way.

I wasn't planning on new dolls this year, just bodies for my heads but I guess I'll have to go through theirs to see if there's still someone I absolutely want and don't want to gamble getting in second have market. :pout: but I'm of course also curious to see the new dolls and what art direction they take with them since I feel Doll Leaves has some most interesting face sculpts out there. Are they going to continue that or go in the more generic pretty direction from here on? It'll be interesting to see regardless of the answer.

    16. ALL of them!??? I'm stunned. WHY? why Doll Leaves! WHYY!???

I kinda want Lan so I may have to bite the bullet and order her.

They have some interesting older heads, some are really not my cup of tea but a few of them I find quite interesting. Nina, Hily, Matthew I think would all make nice dolls.
Thankfully I have most of the heads I already wanted from Doll leaves, Lan is the only one on my "yes for sure" wishlist so ngh.

Doesn't look like they're offering anything other than normal and white resin which is a pity because i'd really like something a little more interesting.

    17. I have a teenage dream girl, and while minifee shirts will fit just fine, from the waist down they're too curvy for even MSD pants. Girl's got a huge badonkadonk.

    18. Whoa, that's a bit sudden. There are so many classics among them. But, I guess they know what they are doing. I do look forward to see what they create in the future.

    19. Do you know if stretchy pants work ok? The hips sizes are almost the same. Minifee at 19cm and DL at 19.5 cm. I wonder if the waist sizes figure in though because minifee is 11cm and DL 13cm. I do see the shape difference though. DL is very pear shaped whereas minifee is an hourglass.

As for the discontinuations I'm wondering what they'll be introducing. I did not want to buy any dolls this year, however, they are such a good quality and affordable body for slim mini heads I'd like to grab one before they're gone forever.
For a "cheaper"(nothing in this hobby is cheap XD) brand, they are really well proportioned and have a nice weight and feel to the resin. Such a shame to think they'd be getting rid of the teenage dream 1/4 body. :( I'm hoping maybe they'll keep them and just update the joints or something like that. It's a shame about the head sculpts too, many of them are very cute.

    20. The discontinuation of all their molds left me off base. I feel like it was just yesterday that they released Rabbit and Camilla, which I found totally adorable. Before I started this hobby one of my first alternatives was to get a doll from DL because they were "cheap" (note the quotes) and I wanted to see if I liked the hobby enough but I got headlong into a layaway with expensive 1/3 dolls and let that go lol

I thought that at some point I would lower my head and buy one of the sculpts that I like, like Augus' head, because I was not a fan of the male bodies of Doll Leaves, but I did like the girls. Leilia's face, and the new ones at that time, Camilla, that I didn't know if I would like the "new" color, porcelain, because I didn't want her to turn yellow. I liked Rabitt when they uploaded some pictures of her dressed as Sakura Card Captor, then I was quite tempted to have her, but suddenly they removed the faceup option which was a deal-breaker for me (Because I still don't know how to paint them). Another downside is that DL is not going to put the option for faceup for their new sculpts, which suks for me if I end up liking one of the new ones.

Now with this discontinuation, I don't dare to make impulsive purchases, since I promised myself that if I bought a doll this year it would be a complete one and only one. I have too many floating heads, If I end up getting one from DL I'm going to regret it, I know I will...
