Doll maintenance you just HATE

Jun 4, 2013

    1. I'm going to be an odd one and say I don't hate restringing. I have one doll that is more difficult than others, but It isn't too bad.
Removing company faceups isn't fun though! D: Brush cleaner just makes my nails brittle and it is the only solution I've found to work effectively without too much scrubbing involved. 8/

    2. Wow! I never knew restringing was so disliked. Restringing and sueding are my two favorite things to do when I get a new doll. Face ups, those I can't do anymore.

    3. Cleaning off all the faceup. And dressing them, especially if it involves taking their heads off. Restringing I do very very very rarely so I can't remember...but I'm guessing I dislike it since I hardly restring them ._.

    4. Wiping faceups off... Ugh... Even with a Mr. Magic Clean Eraser it still takes me an hour or two of tough scrubbing just to wipe the faceup off.

    5. Restringing (hands down) and taking off the faceup.

    6. Which magical nailpolish remover is it that you're using? :D Please share your secrets xD

For me it is restringing.... uuuuuuugh. I have never managed to do it properly. Tugging and pulling, being afraid I'll scratch something... My distaste for restringing is so strong I'll deal with a doll being floppy, hm. >_>

    7. Ugh. Restringing and lashes. People say restringing is super easy, but it always seems like I screw something up when I do it. I've tried restringing my bobobie pixie I don't know how many times now, and either she's too loose and her head droops like she's sad, or she's too tight and wants to kick everything. Then I had to restring my saint when I sanded him and... His arms haven't been the same since.

Lashes just... Lashes. My hands shake like leaves on a tree when I'm trying to draw lashes, and gluing the top ones is just a mess, no matter if I do one piece or individual pieces. *sigh* *_*

    8. Restringing for me is always coupled with a fresh hot-glue "sueding" in all the joints, so it usually gets good results. My only dislike is dealing with heads with narrow neck slot openings so you HAVE to put the knots inside the torso. An in-head knot is SO much easier to tighten! (Acutally, a knot low in the torso isn't bad, but too many companies seem to want to get the arm knots and torso knots at the same shoulder level!)

Lashes, though, there I really agree. Love the look of real lashes - if short - but getting them in is a project I dread--

    9. I get the most annoyed trying to take heads off/adjust eyes in dolls who have headcaps attached to the S hook. I love my MNF because it's so easy to get the hands and the head off, and to open the head and adjust the eyes, but I always end up hurting my fingertips a bit when I work on my Tiny Fairies and most of my other dolls. It makes dressing them such a pain!

    10. Painting lower lashes and restringing. Blargh.

    11. Getting the eyebrows the same on face ups isn't easy. Also getting dust off eyelashes and restringing, ugh!

    12. I really don't mind restringing but I agree with everyone on the lower lashes. They are so difficult! My problem... Eyes. Lol. I don't know why I just have so many problems getting the eyes in the right position and then of course I get the tack stuck on my fingers and ugh.... It just gets to be a big mess.

    13. Yes!! Sames. Urrgh, lower lashes *shudders*

A little while ago I restrung my perfect posing realpuki (just because, yano, I like tampering with awesome things) and I snapped the string, so now he is held together by a rubber band.

Yep. Feel free to smack me with the bad owner stick. T 3 T
