1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll Personality/Identity Problems

Jan 25, 2016

    1. I'm not creative at all when it comes to making up characters. I have given my BJD names, and I decided that one was going to be a half demon (just because I found some perfect horns for him) but other then that they are just dolls I can dress up in pretty outfits. I still have a bond with them, and I just adore all of them, but there's no specific character story for them.
      That's why I also like full sets and character Volks DD girls, they already have a character/look/theme to them, and I don't have to try and make up something.

      It seems a bit weird I know, but I make a living at doing artwork and commissions.... and I guess drawing other peoples characters all the time has just killed the desire to make my own. ^^;

    2. I'm terrible with giving them personalities and stuff. :(

      I wish I could, but it's just not something that comes to me naturally.

    3. I only had one doll who was overall difficult to figure out and he was something of an impulse buy (RS Pixiu). Before he arrived home, I had decided who he was and where he fit in the various worlds my dolls are part of. However, getting his hair right was a nightmare and I went through several pairs of eyes before finding the right ones. His personality was slow to emerge, too. His character seldom talks, not because he can't, but because he doesn't believe in wasting words on meaningless chatter. Because he doesn't talk much, figuring out some of the finer details of him were frustrating. I was even considering selling him on at one point. But once I hit on his hair style (black shaved sides, fire engine red mohawk), he settled right in and things just seemed to flow after that.
