Doll plans 2022

I have a few priorities.
a big one being "bodies for floating heads"

That was what I was meant to do this year too but I only managed two of the four lol.
but I guess that's better than nothing right? Especially as bodies are you know, about as much as a whole doll.

I need a body for Wol
A body for Ben

and I also need to decide if i'm going to keep Robin and Larina or sell them (both are floating heads too)
If I elect to keep them they'll also need bodies, which kinda... overwhelms me a bit.

I didn't do too badly in my other resolution to get clothing sorted for everyone though. I have no nude dolls on my desk so that's a big plus!

2022 will also see I think a great reduction in number of dolls aquired but also an attempt to maybe rationalise some of the collection.

I'll be trying to keep my wishlist quite short and carefully curated. We'll see if I manage that one.

 

I try not to make resolutions - they are, after all, meant to be broken.

SO, I just have intentions, which are currenlty to finish the in-progress dolls I currently have on the go, not buy any more dolls (the house is bursting at the seams), and work on my mountain of doll-sewing UFOs

But, that's similar to my intentions for every other year so.....

Bodies for Deirdre and Nanako (Peakswoods FOCs) are my priority right now. I also need some basic shirts for Elle and my other 1/4 size dolls. While going through my clothing for them I realized that they have a lot of dresses and crop tops but no actual shirts. I also need to commission an outfit for Elle since she's a shelled character. I'm sure I will end up buying some kind of doll. I'm not planning to but I'm sure it will happen. I would also really like to get back into making doll jewelry. I love doing it, but my Etsy shop has been on vacation for like a year due to crazy circumstances.

 

I just entered the hobby a few weeks ago, but my plans are to buy (1) one new doll and keep it at that, but we'll see how that goes, haha.

I mostly plan on making plenty of clothes, accessories and props + working on my photography skills this coming year.

 

Welp, 2022 plans for my crew, my 75cm Body for Switch Hwayeon, faceup for my Ryuzo, gonna get a few wigs. Maybe 1 head or 2. and jointed hands. Gosh that sounds alot.

I've got a few incoming that's prolly gonna come in 2022 too, 70cm body and a few clothes.

 

So I've recently decided that I am going to go with a certain story and I'm not going to shoehorn Cassius into it like I was trying to at first. So part of my plans is really working on getting the story out and fleshing out the character concepts and sculpts I want for them.

I've also decided that I'm going to really focus on the bjd aspect of my doll collection over the rest and only start buying other dolls again once I'm satisfied with the bjds or if I win the lotto then it's free game I get ALL the dolls lol.

Anyway I want to learn to sew clothes so I figure this year I'm going to focus on learning that and really completeing Cassius to a point that I'm thoroughly satisfied with him. So I'm not buying a new doll with my tax return this year like I usually do. Next years tax return will be the start of my primary doll story and I'm really excited for the doll I'm going to get first.

I also really want to start a doll youtube channel, I've wanted to for years but I kept putting it off or thinking I couldn't do it but screw it I'm going to give it a go.

 

Oh, go for that Youtube channel. I always find watching doll videos to be very relaxing and so fascinating. But even if nobody watches and it makes you happy, keep going for it.

My plans and hopes (I also can't call it a resolution because things are too unpredictable) for 2022:

Well, technically I hope to have my first photostory session done by the end of this month, but that seems unlikely with how busy we are and the hours I'm logging at work, so I hope to have that finished early '22. I also hope to have two more sessions for this story arc done next year as well, but I also want to get Genji body blushed (finally) so I don't know how feasible getting three story sessions done will be. If I'm being really hopeful, I'll get all three or four sessions for this arc done next year and can purchase the doll for my next character who I need for the next story arc before the year is up.

I for sure will be getting new shoes for Genji that I need for his intro story arc and at least the wig for my next character once I finish up this first photostory.

 

I have so many plans right now,
I finally got my mod project boy zaenyth all together (a year late…) but I’ve still been putting off making him clothes. So thats a thing
I also need to find more eyes to buy in general, I did a foray into making eyes but learned that I really don’t have the talent or time to make it work. So I have a whole slew of dolls that I’m looking for eyes for.
Other than that it’s a lot of outfits and wigs! I have a bunch of characters I want to either make or buy outfits for. I have 3 dolls that are arriving next year and a lot of character designs prepared for them. It’s going to be fun!

 

In 2021 I had wanted to finish buying the assorted parts I needed for floating heads (a couple bodies, some hands and feet that needed upgrading/replacement) and just get all the dolls I have completed. I'm done with all the part-buying (although still waiting for some of it to arrive), but I didn't manage to finish everyone. Close, but not quite. So my main plans are to finish that up.

Other than that, in 2022 I want to finish the restoration project on my old Impldoll Idol body that I started this year, and finish the head sculpt that I plan to make for it.

And then of course, there is my ongoing wishlist of sewing and crafting projects I'd like to do-- as always, looking forward to seeing how many of them I can do in the coming year!

 

I always look forward to this topic every year…dreaming up new doll plans is always the best! And it’s a great place to refer back to during the year to see what you wrote, keep yourself on point, and keep track of what you’ve managed to accomplish. It’s really helped me to get my doll projects successfully completed over the years.

1. Pay off my *cough, choke* 3 doll layaways I have going into the new year. In my defense, one was an absolutely perfect best friend for a beloved boy I’ve had for years. Another was a striking full set that perfectly embodies my love of religious iconography. And my 3rd is a Fairyland Realpuki that they just released…and they sell them so infrequently, I simply couldn’t afford to miss out! (all layaways remaining from 2021 are paid and received!)

2. No new dolls! I know I say this every year, but I’m really and truly out of room and have finally run out of characters to shell. (I will however make an exception for any of those infrequent Realpuki releases by Fairyland. They are absolutely the only thing left on my wishlist these days…because they don’t take up any space and I adore them.) Yeah, so once again it’s an epic fail on this one! I moved things around in my collection and wouldn’t you know it? I uncovered a vacancy which I quickly filled with 2 adorable Dollzone tinies on layaway (to be a special pair of Pokemon trainers.) When will I ever learn to quit trying to make this a goal every year? (So yeah, these two new layaways will be ongoing throughout 2022.)

ETA: And yeah, it’s truly been the year of Dollzone for me! Wouldn’t you know it…they just did a limited re-release for my final remaining grail (as in “never thought I’d get one”…ever!) So now I have a mermaid Sawarieda in purple skin on layaway as well. That makes 3 new dolls ordered this year (which is pretty much my routine average.) Epic fail on not adding anymore new dolls this year indeed!

3. I have a few existing BJDs that still need some more artwork/makeup enhancements/tattoos and minor mods for their characters to be fully realized, so I’ll be needing more MSC and further research to decide exactly what I want to do. Then it will be time to get down to actually doing the work. This will be my main artistic endeavor for 2022.

4. Continue to take part in the sewing rounds in the workshop area here on DoA to accomplish any new wardrobe needs that might arise. Most of my dolls’ wardrobes are complete after so many years, but there always seems to be some necessary creative additions that crop up here and there. I’m a slave to their fashion!

I had to mod and restring her quickly before the holidays (after discovering her ongoing posing difficulties were actually do to a broken internal part from her original manufacturing process…oops Luts!) So now she needs some judicious sueding and careful sanding to tidy everything up. (done!)

6. Need to make/buy some new wigs for a few of my dolls.

My Plans for the new year

1. Hopefully sell off the remaining dolls I no longer want
2. Get face-ups for my two incoming dolls: my Bluefairy Patrick and Crobidoll Yeon-Ho
3. Buy clothing for my Crobidoll Yeon-Ho
4. Update and work on stories for two of my dolls

Basically I'm just going to be selling things and buying doll items. I don't plan on bringing home any new dolls next year.

 

no resolutions, but things i’d love to get accomplished in no order:

• DFH Body for my dollclans Jaquer
• and.. then finish the rest of him
• and finish the 5 faceups i need to do.. that’s a summer thing though
• work on my sewing skills!
• work on my eye making skills!
• beef up my 3D modelling skills! i really want to 3d print more props.
• get back to working on my head sculpt. l also want to get deeper into resin casting.

this is a weird one and seemingly not doll related, but we’re in the process of house hunting…… and because dolls and creating for them is now 75% of my brain i’m constantly dreaming about doll space to display them

 

so far I already failed at my plan at 1 doll a year so hopefully this year I can stick to a resolution to not buy anymore lol
instead just focus on crafting stuff for the ones I have ¯¯\_ʘ‿ʘ_/¯

 

I mostly plan to try and make more things myself; I didn't do as much doll sewing this year as I wanted to. I might try and make some more 1/4 hats as well. I have a lot of ambitious sewing projects in mind, so I'll try and improve my sewing skills in general too.

In terms of dolls, I plan to save up for a head I really want, and then afterwards for a body for that head. It'll be my second doll ever, if I can manage to purchase it before it sells out!

 

My plans are to
1) pay off my layaway
2) buy one of the dolls I've been eyeing for the past year
3) learn how to sew better
4) buy some pretty clothes and accessories

I'm tempted to add something about photography but that might be pushing it so I'll just hope that I achieve most of these goals^^

 

My main resolution is to actually photograph my dolls. I feel like an amateur, and just a lousy collector since my dolls don't have the nicest faceups since I do them myself, but I need to get over it and share them more. They're important to me, and I want to show other people.

The resin to-do list in order of importance (probably only the first two if I'm being honest with my finances):

1. Body for my Ringdoll K (Tan. Slim. I need help finding a resin match)

2. Body for Impldoll PeiYing (order from them or hopefully something secondhand)

3. Resinsoul Rui on the Long body in purple (try to see if Resinsoul will swirl two purples)

4. Myou ver 2 body in tan for an incoming Fairyland split head.

5. Resinsoul Ming body in light tan for a hybrid (would be nice but really isn't important. The character is already bodied just not ideally.)

And I need to CLOTHE AND SHOE EVERYONE. Nobody's naked, but many have clothes that don't suit their character really, or just not quite complete outfits. I've been learning to see and have made some things, and will make more. Only half of my dolls have shoes! But everyone got wigs and faceups this year, except for two.

1. LeGrand Dolls Briana (might send her out instead of doing it myself)

2. Dragon Shell Doll Capricorn

3. The floating heads once they get bodies

4. Redo Jack (Impldoll John) since his faceup is the second I ever did and is covering a ton of sins and mods and he's a bit scruffy.

I got lucky and found my grail doll this year: Batchix Dark Elf (actually 2 of them and I love them). If I can, I'll try to track down the rest of them: Agatti Vakhmurddarr and Dollshe Afghana.

 

Hahahaha, oh god, I love these threads because every year I basically get nothing accomplished. I could blame the pandemic this time, but nah, 2/3 of these things have been on my to-do list for years.

Anyways, moving onwards, I'm gonna keep it simple this year:

• Send Pips out for a faceup (I've been saying this since 2018 so *shrugs* who knows? Not me!) | Sept update - still haven't done this. Maybe next year!
• Find some motivation to work on the doll nook (aka hopefully finally emptying the unpacked boxes that I put there when I moved in so it's just dolls and not dolls on boxes lololol) | Sept update: I actually did this one finally! Well, the boxes are still in the nook but I inherited a small wooden display cabinet that all my dolls live in now. So they're a) all behind glass away from the sun and dust and b) something I get to re-arrange every now and then to my heart's content. I'm very happy about this one!
• Wig, shoes and stockings to go with the Witch Set I bought from Bluefairy for my Daydream Sally. | Sept update: I actually bought her shoes and accessories back in January (maybe february?) and I just ordered her wig the other day. I also have had some eyes picked out for a while but I'd been (and still am) waiting until I have enough items to justify the ems shipping costs from legenddoll. So she's definitely going to be 95% finished by the end of the year if not completely finished (dependent on *when* I buy her eyes)

Basically, I just want some motivation to actually finish things I started years ago. Anything else I accomplish will be a bonus.

Bonus things I accomplished as of Sept 2022

• Bought an unplanned doll (Prim), but I'm using her as an excuse to try and finish off my other dolls (both on and off topic). Her needing a wig (I only have one 1/6 wig and Pips is wearing it!) lead to me doing a bulk wig purchase that should complete/near complete 5 dolls. So, big win!
• Narrowed down the eyes I want for my Daydream Sally, Withdoll Alex and soon to be home Shiny Fairy May 2nd (Prim). They're all bookmarked and will be ordered alongside the clothes and shoes I want for Prim - maybe this year, maybe early next year. Once again, that unplanned doll is paying off!
• Completed/almost completed three of my off topic dolls, meaning the majority of my collection is how I envisioned it to be. So again, I'm feeling very accomplished this year overall! Which is new, but nice. Don't know if I'll ever top how much I accomplished this year though
