Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 1. I already crossed off one of my items on my 2023 doll plans list and it was a big one so yay productivity and appropriately timed sales.

    2. Wow, today, I've been awarded a trophy by DOA for 14 years in the forum! :XD: :D  :mwahaha......Oh...I'm getting old. :pout:. My dolls are still with me. I have retired from the hobby, just keeping a few of them while finding new homes for some.

My first doll, Isao Nanjou ver 1 is still with me, resting in his box. I am waiting to celebrate his 20th birthday in 2024. I did plan to have his original faceup redone in 2023 but now I hesitate because I had wanted to keep his default for as along as possible. His eyes are still hot glued, factory sealed. Can't wait for 2024. A fresh faceup would be nice but should I or should I not? His original is still fresh. Besides, I would like Volks company artist to work on his new faceup and that could prove difficult. Lets see what happens.

    3. It's amazing that your first doll will have his 20th birthday with his original eyes and faceup! I'd say that he could use a makeover to conmemorate his birthday, but whatever you feel comfortable with :)

      --

For my plans, I just want to get the couple of discontinued dolls from my wishlist but I depend on luck to find them. I have other regular dolls on the wishlist but there's no rush on getting them. I've been wanting to get more accesories for some time now, but I'm super picky, so I'll try to buy what I like.

    4. I gave up on making plans for my dolls. Whatever plans I made and whatever new year's resolutions I came up with, usually it ended with me doing almost the opposite of what I envisioned before.
What I really would love to do though, is taking some more pictures of my dolls and sewing/knitting them a bigger wardrobe. And there's still like 3 dolls here that could really use a faceup. Oh well.
Maybe the secret is to start small? Not like a photo each day (heaven beware!) or each week, maybe I should already be happy with one photo a month?

    5. In 2023 I’ll probably buy some new dolls especially if they are dolls I’ve been looking for as in rereleases or new sculpts I’m interested in. If none of that happens I’ll happily buy clothes and accessories for my existing dolls.

    6. First thing, actually get my dolls. I'm expecting January/early February, and as the song goes, the waiting is the hardest part. I have a few dresses I started sewing for one but can't finish until she arrives, and a friend sent me a fantastic chest of crafting goodies for the other, so I have lots of clothes-making to look forward to...once I have bodies to put stuff on. I'll also be painting the dolls themselves up, and I have plans to customize a throne for the one. So lots of plans, just have to wait.

There's stuff I'd like to order as well-there's some Luts stuff I'm hoping to find once I have marketplace access-but right now I'm making myself wait on anything else until I have my two in-hand.

    7. I plan to not buy anymore dolls. I may switch members but don’t increase if not decrease in number of dolls I have. I ordered my first iplehouse (BID Ellia boy) during on holiday sale. After he arrives, I have both genders in major scales (1/3, 1/4, 1/6) and my weird “Doll OCD” is satisfied. My first bjd was supposed to be my mini me. I got her for aesthetics over similarity to me. Just this month, I received a head that actually looks like me. I also have Maskcat MSD that I didn’t feel connection at first and tried to sell but later I got attached to her and decided to keep her. She and my first doll are the possibilities for rehoming in the future.

it’s just easy to spoil dolls when you have less. In 2023 I would like to spend more time and budget on creating props and collecting/making outfits. :)

    8. I just ordered my only doll of the year, a Doll Leaves Louis, for my Christmas and Birthday present (birthday is on the 28th!).

I decided to keep a doll I had listed for sale, and to use his body for a floating head I had and they'll just share the body. So, that decision has affected what my initial plans for 2023 were. So far my plans for my BJDs are:
      • Blush my Dollzone Benjamin (Ozkar) head to match my RS Dark Tan boy body he'll be sharing with my Sui head and give him a faceup. Also blush his hands
      • Make Oz at least one outfit, one pair of shoes, a bag, and some props
      • Faceup my Louis (Demeryn) and blush his hands
      • Make Demy a wig
      • Make Demy at least one outfit, one pair of shoes, a bag, an apron, and some props
      • Make a clear concept for my Sui head, since I'm keeping him, I love his face sculpt and was saddest to get rid of him, I just need to determine what aesthetic I'm interested in that I want him to have.
      • Make (or Start on, at least) a diorama for Oz and Demeryn
I have off-topic doll plans, too, like customizing my Isul and Taeyang MIO kits that I bought from Pullipstyle's black friday sale, and I want to make a 1:12 foamboard and cardboard dollhouse in a medieval fantasy style with anthro dolls to match, but I don't know what I'll actually be able to complete in the year, so we'll see! Honestly, with my executive dysfunction, if I can complete half my list and get the dolls faceups done and maybe some clothes, I'll be happy. I'm trying to just take things at my own pace, even if that's slower than what I wish it was.

    9. My initial list for 2023 had 'order the shell for Scaramouche' in it but I went ahead and did it as a Christmas present to myself since finances allowed so my plans have been slightly scrambled! That being said, the year ahead is shaping up to be extremely busy so we'll see how far we can go with that...
      • Possibly no more dolls this year given how I'm waiting on both Scara and Sora? (similarity of names unintentional :P ) this was going according to plan but February and inspiration hit so I ended up buying two more heads. (Childe & Heizou) my only saving grace it's that they were planned characters? And Heizou is a very important cog in the Genshin Gymnasium story. Okay, okay, everything got derailed because of so many reasons... Yohre (Unoa L-Bi head) and Owane (Unoa Xyle) were added to the family, sculpts got swapped around because I fell in love with Honkai Star Rail and I wanted to recreate the main trio, and I ended up acquiring a Minifee Sarang '14 head and a moe line body for her... I haven't gotten this many new dolls in a year since starting the hobby... oops...
      • Buy clothes for the MSDs. They have been multiplying in recent years and sorely need them.
      • Buy clothes for the ID75/EID guys, they're seriously so hard to dress. Also some shoes.
      • Pay off Sora (DD Kaito) in spring
      • Figure out how to restyle my YoSD Piccolo
      • Wigs for half the crew that either need new ones or just need wigs in the first place. (Xiao, Kazuha, Scaramouche, Sherry, Naoya, Shigeru, Shirou, Mr Charming, Owane, Caelus, Dan Heng, March 7th)
      • Faceups for the faceless army (Xiao (final touches), Sen, Scaramouche, Shigeru, Caelus, Dan Heng, March 7th)
      • Tattoos & bodyblushing for Neynari
      • Get back into the sewing game
      • Photos photos photos. Take more photos and get involved in the community again. I say this every year but I yearn for it so badly! I love my doll family so much and want to do more with them!

      • Buy clothes that actually fit my Meeksdoll boy. He has a large rear end and his current pants are *very* tight! He could also use smaller eyes.
      • Faceups, blushing and mods. I have several dolls that need various degrees of aesthetic work. I did manage to finish several faceups this year on dolls that had been blank for an embarrassingly long time. I hope to continue the trend in 2023.
      • Buy a head for my DZ demon egg. This would be head number 3. Somehow my demon egg heads always sprout bodies miraculously.
      • Buy a new body for Jubilee (my MDR Fang). I'd like a Maskcat body, I think. They're quite pretty and I love the hand options they offer.
      • Take photos again! I used to be very good about this and now I never photograph my dolls at all.
If I finish all of these I'll be incredibly proud of myself!

      • To not buy new dolls.
      • To fully customize my current two
      • To do the faceups and blushing on both.
      • For the male one, I'm hoping to make him into Al-Haitham from Genshin Impact. It's gonna require a lot of patience sewing wise but I'm taking it step by step.
      • To buy wigs/ accessories but up to me to style them.
      • I want to make some sort of sculpted hair for my Dust of Dolls doll. I've been toying with the idea for years and I have the stuff to do it just haven't done it. Normal wigs don't fit on the head of mine.

If I get any of this done on my full-time schedule this year it will be a miracle.

    10. I ordered so many dolls this year, so I'll be getting a lot of new dolls in 2023! Here's a list of my plans/goals:

-Give faceups to all of my dolls, especially the one that's been blank for 5 years
-Sew clothes for my dolls with unusual proportions
      -Start making resin eyes
      -Begin sculpting my own doll
-3D print dolls using my new resin 3D printer (I found some files from an artist on etsy that I'm keen on)
-Make wigs for all my dolls that need one
-Help my friend with her first doll and show her how to make things
      -Start photographing my dolls again
-Start my doll instagram back up
-Spend less money and buy fewer dolls than I did this year

    11. - Hopefully to get 2 more dolls in 2023.
-Do new faceup for all my female dolls.
      -New dresses for each doll.:XD::XD:

    12. I'm honestly more of a spender than a craftsman. I feel like I did a good job if I can get my dolls dressed (and sometimes I have a friend help me).

This year my plan is to get a second Volks FCS Ever Beauty, F100, with more outfits for both of my SDs. I'm also hoping to pick up that big fancy couch that Volks sells, and sit them in that rather than using basic doll stands like I'm doing now.
This is definitely the year where I get a girlfriend who is into BJDs.

    13. My plans:

Get bodies for floating heads DAMNIT.
      so
      - two female bodies for the two DIM girls
      - one tall male body for the DS Ben head
      - one grey body for "vampire" head.

Figure out what to do with DIM Ace. Whether to keep him or sell him or what.

Get outfits sorted for Frapzilla Lupe and Vega. These will likely need to be home sewn because of their unusual proportions. Argh.

Of course i'll likely buy some dolls too because I love dolls. But i'm trying to curb the impulse "it's cheap" purchases and instead be certain the doll will fit my crew first.
      My wishlist remains:

Doll Chataeu Hugh (please DC, rerelease him! pleasseeeeee!!!!)
      Spirit Doll Ginger
      Doll Leaves Lan
      Dollmore Heizle
      Luts Muhwa
Dollzone Freddy 2 (maybe they'll do another rerelease, one can hope right? lol)

And i'm certain other things will be released that I fall in love with so i'm not gonna say "no more new dolls", that's just unrealistic.

but i'm definitely going to try to prioritise the bodies. I'm pretty sure I know what bodies I want for the girls, but it's Ben that's proving awkward. Of course, i'm probably just overthinking it.

It'd be nice to take more photos of my crew too. But I find finding the time and space a bit awkward. Still, it's another thing to add.

    14. 2023 Doll Plans:

•My Raccoon Doll Wild Fantasy Nana should be arriving in January. (Hana 2.0)
+She may need new eyes since they send her with a random color
      +Shoes
      +Complete her wardrobe

•Buying Monochrome Beauty Laetitia + her sleepy head from Raccoon Doll (Orla 2.0) next time they have a free shipping event
      +Wig
      +Wardrobe
      +Shoes

I’m giving myself permission for 1 additional smaller (around 40cm) doll later in the year if I find the right one for a specific character I have in mind.

Really want to focus on each doll having a complete wardrobe/accessories collection specific to their character personalities rather than impulse buying dolls like I did this year.

And then once the dolls all feel “complete” I’m planning on starting to work on a diorama.

    15. I plan to not buy new dolls. Not going to count my incoming minifee because I bought her in 2022. :mwahaha

I will try to buy some new wigs and clothes though. I will also need to figure out what I'm going to do with the event head she came with.

    16. Last year, I bought a lot of dolls, but I couldn't play with them much I think I didn't enjoy my hobby while spending a lot. I'm going to enjoy playing with dolls more this year ;)

    17. While I’m going to have a busy year (finishing postgrad studies while working full time) I’m still hoping to be able to work on some dolls… My general plans are to:
      • Finish the haute couture outfit I’ve been working this year (not much left, so I’m hoping to finish this in January)
      • Start and finish at least one big project
      • Try out and learn making alpaca wigs
      • Get at least one body for my floating heads
      • Buy a doll from my wishlist instead of a sudden limited shiny release that is inevitably going to happen at some point this year……

    18. I'm planning to pay off the two dolls I have on layaway, and then have a ton of fun customizing my dolls! I hadn't been able to afford any BJD's for a long time, even though I first found out about them and loved them since high school. This past year I finally was able to afford some and went overboard! I have my Doll Leaves Ida here, my Fappzilla Alula, Vega, and Polaris on the way, and my ResinSoul Yan coming. I also got some Obitsu dolls and other non BJD's to customize, so I'm excited! I also got all blank dolls- no wigs or eyes even- because I want to try customizing every part. Hopefully I can pull off the designs I want to!
