1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll Stories?

Apr 13, 2021

    1. Before I got into the hobby myself, I always enjoyed looking at other people's BJDs and I remember there was an account on some social media that I loved because they made these sort of... comic/story posts with their dolls. I loved their characters and the stories just as I would, following any sort of series. I wonder if there's anyone else that likes to create those kinds of things with their dolls? Would love to discover more of that! Once I get mine, I would also like to start something like that.

    2. So, in the Galleries tab there is actually a photostories section. Some of them have narratives on the photos, under the photos, or written like a story with the photo at the end.

    3. Oh my gosh, thank you! I didn't know that was there. Time to go spend the rest of my day looking through it haha.

    4. No problem, Enjoy your browsing. Not all of them are comic-book like, but most of them still tell a story. :)

    5. It’s not pictures of dolls but I’m currently working on a comic called Fable of Nox where a lot of my dolls are shells for my characters! I love having doll forms of my characters because it gives me a chance to do AU stuff with them and dress them up in ways I might not be able to in the comic.

    6. Making stories was actually my favorite part of the hobby and you can find my latest either here in the photostories section or on the site in my signature block. Sadly I just don't have the energy for it these days which is why "latest" is rather old. Still there's a rather lengthy series up if you'd like to read it.

    7. um, if you're looking, I used to have a comic I wrote and drew - the bulk of my dolls up until about 2014 were based off the characters. now I only have the most important ones left (whole thing is on DA somewhere. My account still exists I just don't use it anymore).

And I did start a new one this year - starring the characters of most of my 2015-to-now dolls! (not the DC ones. Just my OCs). And probably the old ones too as I can't let them go. It's literally in it's infancy, and I'm currently only posting it on instagram (and largely text-less until I get around to that) until I get enough done to post somewhere else (and find somewhere I feel comfortable posting) BUT i'm so very proud I even started. I missed making comics!

    8. Oh that sounds like such a good idea! I also thought of making my dolls something like actors or so, so they could also try out different things than their original aesthetic! Do you post these anywhere?

I'll have to go take a look! I definitely like lengthier ones so they last longer and I can be with the story more!

Would it be alright to know your instagram? Would love to check that out!

    9. @myuupi sure thing - link in my signature works (I checked. it's been a while since I updated it XD )

    10. Yeah! I have a twitter here I'm hoping to have the first chapter posted later this year. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I've been trying to make sure everything ends up perfect

    11. The two conpanies I ordered from both have really great photo stories on their website. Sadly none have been updated recently. Yet I still recommend Dearmine's comics for their bean/classic sized animal dolls. They are drawings focused mainly on their kitten Picasso and it is the cutest doll comics I've ever seen.

    12. I like to incorporate full set dolls into my stories so I let them become their own characters.

    13. There's a Discord channel of writers whose characters are shelled into BJDs. It's a small group, but fun.
