Dollheart Fukubukuro Thoughts?

Apr 27, 2015

    1. I opened my bags today, 1 YoSD and 1 MSD. The shoes & vest I bought with them are total perfection, gosh it gave a really nice first DH impression!!

The Yo bag had enough clothing and accessories to dress 2 dolls (boy & girl) and the outfits are fairly well coordinated. I was super surprised to find the very wig I was on the fence about ordering but didn't, to keep my total under $100. So that was very, very fortunate!
On the downside, the shoes included in this bag had some greasy black gunk in them which discolored my doll's feet with only brief wear. Magic eraser took it off after soap wouldn't, but I was lucky to have not put socks on her! Is that normal for DH shoes..? or maybe this pair is aging and 'melting'..? But guys, check your shoes before putting your new dolly socks and resin feets into them! I guess my solution for this will be to make tiny plastic wrap liners. Love the shoes (and all the Yo items!).. But..!

The MSD bag contained a very mixed assortment of gothic, casual, and dressy styles. I'll be putting most of that bag up for trade probably.. I think tonight was the last straw, I need to sell my MSD (or intensely troubleshoot, which I'm not qualified for.) She is gorgeous and adorable and frustrates to the point of bringing out the worst in me like no one else...! :( The items all look really well made and valuable though. I share concerns for the artist/production team - hope that they have good food on the table and cozy rest each night.

Photos tomorrow~ it'll take me a long time to figure out what everything is, I'm so unfamiliar with DH's site! Very impressed with the sewing quality, and overall products (with the exception of the shoe thing, but no harm..!)

Has no one mentioned yet - the baggies themselves are adorable!! I want to collect those!

    2. @Lokinta Super excited to see what you got in your YoSD bag! ;u; Were the items mostly casual or....? And that's such a bizarre outcome for the shoes. I can't even imagine what that gunk might be...Glad magic eraser took it right off.

What about this prompted you to sell your MSD curiously? Looking forward to the photos.

And the bags are incredibly useful for storing supplies with a simple label/tag.

    3. That looks like a fab selection @Julie M ...Bit of an odd combo but I'd be happy with that as it would get shared between my boy and incoming girl.

@Lokinta I've had that greasy residue problem before, but it was with a pair of Dream of Doll shoes. I gave them a good clean and I think I might have put some clear varnish on the offending area too just to be sure.

      I've posted a video of the box opening for my two SD fukubukuro for anyone who, like me, whiles away the time waiting for a package by watching other people get theirs! It's here;

The lighting is terrible I'm afraid - I was too impatient to wait for daylight!

    4. @rubydoll just watched your video! I love your little adorable lamp that you used as a torchlight! :love
The reason why I love such box opening videos is that I get to see the individual pieces and I have to say you got some really awesome stuff in your bags!

Can't wait to see more box openings! :sumomo:

    5. Well, having lurked in this thread for a fair few days now, I've just given in to temptation and placed an order with Dollheart! I went for a cute little pair of shoes that should hopefully fit one of my dolls, and a YoSD fuku bag. I felt a bit bad, as others here have said, about the idea of only buying a pair of socks to get a bag, so I thought I'd get the shoes as a slightly more substantial purchase without spending too much, as I am still a little worried by all the people saying YoSD can be hit and miss. I'm crossing my fingers for a hit rather than a miss! It's my first time getting a fukubukuro, and actually my first time buying anything for a doll that didn't actually come with the doll itself, so I'm quite excited!

Out of interest, does anyone have any rough idea of how long it takes for them to get to the UK?

    7. Very nicely done, rubydoll. The flashlight showed off the details of the black clothing very nicely. Black rarely films well!

Your female shoes were magnificent ... as was that really nice male coat! You did well.

    8. @azurevsaztec thanks! I love that little lamp too. My dolls have a desk so at some point I'd like to find space have that set up with the lamp on it and some tiny books and stuff. I was rifling around so much in the bag because I was expecting more small items and I wanted to save the biggest pieces for last.

@MadWild mine was posted Wednesday and arrived Friday. That postage was worth every penny! Good luck with your bag - I took a gamble on a yo bag too - for $10 it's worth it and I ordered some cute shoes too!

@Julie M thanks! The light worked well with the black tho it did reflect a bit on the packaged items. I sold one pair of girls shoes last year, swapped another so it looks like third time lucky! I do love that coat too!

    9. I loved your box opening!!! I even talked to my computer telling it how much I love your stuff XD
now I really cant wait for my bags XD

    10. lol I was too shy to talk on the video, maybe I should have you as my soundtrack! Hope you get your bags soon and get loads of fab stuff!

    11. Lol I even said; "yeah you got a second shoe with it, off course you did now show me the rest!!!" I was way to Impatient to wait to see the rest (I was so excited to see whats in someones bag XD). my boyfriend was looking at me like; "Im used that your weird but your taking it to a new level" XD

    12. Thank you, that's useful to know! Did you have any issue with customs, or are the values low enough to slip through okay? It just occurred to me that I could well get a customs bill but I hope since I only ordered two things it should be low enough... Otherwise the customs would probably double the price of the whole thing!

That was my thinking, for such a low price it's worth a gamble! If I got just one or two good items in it, it would make it worthwhile. And if I don't get anything I like, I can always go trading (if I can ever find the thread...) and get something I do like, so either way it should be a good outcome, especially since I love trading things!

Just got to sit and wait the 2 weeks or so now until my order is dispatched, exciting!

    13. Hahaha! I think I took longer because I really liked the items I'd got - and I was trying not to rush it so it wouldn't be over too quickly! I shout at the tv occasionally but I don't think I've yelled at a computer screen yet!

@MadWild I thought mine might get caught in customs as I'd ordered two outfits along with the fukubukuros but the marked value was $6. Two outfits at $2 each and two "fukubukuto" at $1 each. So yeah, it should be fine. Even if there is nothing you like, you can always trade, like you said. I got about £17 for a pair of shoes I got in last year's bag on eBay so I was able to get a pair of (not Dollheart!) shoes I liked more, and the buyer got the DH shoes for a snip and cheap postage. I've got another three bags coming this week and I'm still tempted to get another! So addictive!

    14. Oh that's excellent if they mark the customs like that, I hope they do it for all orders so I don't have to worry about customs. I've spent so much extra on customs for all my BJD-related parcels this year that it would be lovely to have one get through without costing extra.

That's a good idea, listing stuff on eBay as well as trading. I still don't have marketplace access here since I was stuck in newbie status when they switched over (maybe that's why I can't find the trading thread?) and was wondering what I would do if I wanted to sell anything, it didn't occur to me to think of eBay! I took a gamble on the shoes I ordered so I'm thinking they'll be something to sell on to recoup the cost if they don't fit anyone. Plus as you say, it's a good outcome for the buyer too :). I'll definitely keep it in mind as well as trading.

I can understand the addiction! I was very tempted to grab some socks and another bag but I decided I'd better be good since it's less than a month since I ordered a doll so I really should curb the spending for a little while. Out of interest, what size are your other three bags you're waiting for, are they all yo ones?

    15. @MadWild I think they typically mark down. When I ordered two outfits before they slipped straight through as well. What really irks me about customs is the £8 or £13.50 fee they slap on top. Last one I paid, the tax was about £17 so the £13.50 almost doubled it. Still, it was less than I was expecting so I paid and ran.

If you're on Facebook there's a "BJD Trades and Sales" group on there as well - I've picked up some good stuff there though I havent sold anything there. Someone pointed me there before I had marketplace access here. I don't know how much of the marketplace is up and running here yet but yeah, that's probably why you can't find the thread. There's a link posted in this thread somewhere...

Yeah, I've delayed ordering a body for my girl thanks to Dollheart. But that may be a good thing as I'm still undecided on the body, and as she's currently on a mismatched body at the moment when I get her proper body I'm gonna need another head...! I only ordered one yo-sd bag, the other two are SD boy and girl again.

    16. @rubydoll @MadWild how bad are customs typically? I know the U.S. is exempt on toy stuff.

    17. They're not so bad here in the UK - I was expecting to pay about £70 ($105 ish) on my Fairyland order but it was about £17.50 plus a £13.50 handling fee. So about $47? Belgium seems to be really strict - they will contact the company to find out how much you really paid and they want to see invoices and such. I know someone who asked Fairyland to mark the package at the full value to avoid being hassled. It seems unfair because it's not like we can purchase these items in the UK.

And more on topic, I just found the perfect wig for my Pukifee's Christmas outfit on Dollheart's site...so now I'm wondering do I gamble with a 70cm boy bag which won't fit my incoming boy, but for $10 I could mod the heck out of it, or play safe?

    18. @rubydoll Oh wow, they'll actually take the time to contact the company? For all of their packages? I suppose that's supposed to stimulate buying within the country, or discourage ordering outside of it, then? And that doesn't seem like a lot, but I imagine it could be frustrating to pay that on every single order.

My package just made it out of customs in less than 24 hours, so that's pretty incredible. It says that it's in transit to the destination, but I looked that up and was told that that was very misleading -- as it just means it's in transit to the USPS facility. That being said, that was incredibly quick & I'm crossing my fingers for a delivery tomorrow morning.

Hmm....how far off is the sizing for the 70cm and your boy?

    19. @orangediscord Yeah, it sounds like they can get pretty brutal too. I can understand not wanting people to buy cheaply abroad for a lot of items, like you say to stimulate buying domestically but for things like dolls that you can't get at home it seems unfair.

Yeah, if it's like here I think it has to go to a regional depot first or something. Hopefully the holiday hasn't caused things to get backed up and it arrives tomorrow!

The sizing is a good couple of centimetres off across the board. But someone managed to jam the larger version of the body into some DH stuff so I think that a coat would fit, and if nothing else, the shoes should be okay. And because I couldn't decide between two wigs, I got both, and a yo-sd bag as well *cringes* I now need to find some sort of parental lock to keep me off Dollheart til the new year!

    20. Just wanted to share a quick snapshot of my girls wearing their new fukubukuro outfits...
And my guys got them too (they're a bit shy...)
I ordered a bunch of wigs from Dollhearts. Now I have a ton of wigs! I am very happy with my bags. I've gotten fukubukuro bags before but these are the best ones that I have received.
