I will be able to participate soon I hope. My long awaited order was supposed to be delivered yesterday, and so I was outside waiting for it, but my delivery person slowed down enough to toss the dreaded 'not home' slip in the box and sped off, so now I have to wait and go pick it up another day to wait, so everyone's lovely pictures are a help.
Isn't she the loveliest? Congratulations! Alexia is one of my favorite dolls of all time. Love her outfit too. So contemplative looking yet so stylin' it!
Urgh. I tightened my Alex's string, but he still refuses to stand - his knees keep buckling . I'm wondering if I should try to create the same locks in his knees that my Alexia has... But modding scared me a little.
I would try the silicone kips first. Sometimes tight stringing can actually make a dolls standing ability worse.
My Annessa is wired. She stands great, but it does make bending her knees a bit of a problem. I have kips, but I'm not brave enough to restring her to use them, yet.
opal, I wouldn't want to make you do something you dread, but if it's any consolation, this body is very easy to restring. I'm not a stringing champion, but I manage it just fine! Single-jointed dolls are a breeze - plus, Alex(ia) is really sturdy. I restrung my Alex and my Zaoll yesterday while sitting in the sofa and watching a tennis match XD. nancy, I'll try that... Though I confess that from the way his knees are made, I'm not sure how it's going to work! But it's not too much of a hassle to try, so I can at least give it a go.
I agree with Nancy....Kips help, but also, glue sueding or even moleskin cut in semi-circles, applied to his joints. Good luck! i don't have locks in my girl's knees, but the kips work well.
I bought an Alexia from Denver Doll yesterday! Since she was in stock, she's already on her way! I don't have anything for her though, poor dear!
Dollmore has very little, so my three have mostly custom clothes. She can wear some stretchy MSD things, if you have them, but is a wee bit of a trial to dress. Still, she's so gorgeous, it's worth the pain, :-). But congratulations, big ones! She's my favorite BJD, which is saying a lot.
Woo, congrats! As for clothing, she's MSD size up top, so anything with a long fluffy skirt will do in a pinch. My Annessa wore a dress made for a Kish 14" girl for a bit. Btw, in a week or so I will have a family portrait to share; Alexia, Narsha and baby Shabee. Narsha is my b'day present, so I can't have her just yet.
Alexia is very similar to the Kaye Wiggs MSD dolls. She is a bit bigger in the waist and a little bit more in the hips. But she wears things made for Kaye Wiggs MSD's as long as they are not fitted at the hip or very tight at the waist.
Thanks guys! I actually love to make my own clothes, but I've been swamped with other work projects for the last 6 months It will all be over in August though, and I can play dollies and faceup to my heart's content. Until I get more projects. Sigh, being an adult. Anyhoo, I once made a really rad outfit in cream and brown for my Lusion elf Dahlia. But I sold both, and I'm thinking it's time for a miniature version for Alexia! I already picked out her name too, It's going to be Penda Pentagon and she's a gnome Magical Technologist. hehehe I'm just a nerd
Oh well, sounds good to me. But one caution, she can't wear Kaye Wiggs stockings or shoes. They will not fit. She's a gorgeous doll, with chunky legs and feet, very cute, but not like Layla's, say. You'll do fine as she's great in custom clothes!
My Alexia has arrived! She's naked, and I ordered the boy Alex outfit from DM, but I think that's gonna be a while before I get it. I love her! I can't wait to make her a little gnome. Meet Penda by designbasia, on Flickr
She is just great...and Dollmore has one outfit and three pair of shoes for her, in case. What a beauty she is. Congratulations!
