Dollmore Alex and Alexia Doll from Gu Mi-Jeong

Dec 10, 2010

    1. Yay! My doll is shipping and will arrive this week sometime. I'll post a photo when I have her in hand.

    2. Here's a quick photo of my doll that just arrived with an older friend that I bought from the marketplace. She's completely adorable.

      [IMG][/IMG]

    3. Wow! She's gorgeous, congrats! And what an amusing contrast those two make, eh?

    4. Lol, not much in common, except that they both are from Dollmore. I almost never buy fullset but really loved the faceup and costume on this version of Alexia.

    5. I just discovered Alexis and am totally in love!! She looks to me like a miniature Lusion Dahlia without the pout...

    6. My Dollmore Alex just arrived yesterday. He's totally adorable - but he has me worried too... He doesn't have an S-hook in his head! His left leg keeps buckling , which I though might be because he's quite loosley strung, but I don't dare to try and tighten his elastic because it's held by a metal bar and not an S-hook. How do you other Alex owners remove this cutie's head?

      *feels like a doofus*

*goes to pet her floppy boy*

    7. There might be a knot caught somewhere? Check to make sure all his strings can move freely.

The bar isn't a big deal, Narsha has the same set-up... I just grab it with a pair of hemostats when I need to pull it out. You could also find an s-hook in the marketplace or at a hardware store of the right size and substitute it. I know I did that on my Narin Dandelion which uses the same set-up. I think I also use a cut-off popsicle stick to keep the s-hook from turning and going down the neck slot.

Play around with it and see what you can do for him. :-)

Good luck, and congrats on your new arrival!

    8. Thank you for the tips, ravendolls! I have only been a doll owner for a year and I'm not overly confident when it comes to, you know, changing anything at all. On the one hand, I'm really excited to have a doll that is quite different from any others I have, but on the other, I'm a bit worried that I may not be able to handle him :p. I think I'll just give myself time to get used to him and then see if I get more courageous ;). In any case, I need to learn - especially as I intend to get this boy a little Narsha brother...

Like I said, his leg likes to buckle, but when I get him to stand or otherwise pose, he does so in a very natural way. I really love this boy. Also, he has the cutest feet I've ever seen :).

    9. He's totally precious!! Congrats again!!

Stringing is really easy to figure out in most dolls, it's usually one loop going from one ankle up through the body into the head, over the s-hook, bar or o-ring, and down through the body to the other ankle. The arms are one loop going across the upper torso from wrist to wrist.

Sometimes each leg is on its own loop, from ankle to neck bar (or S-hook or o-ring). I think my Narin Dandelion is like that, and one of my Dollzone girls???

Sometimes there are just engineering flaws though... sometimes a bit of hot-glue "suede" helps kicky knees. My F-Doll-body avatar girl has one kicky knee no matter what, so sometimes it just becomes a doll's lovable quirk. ^_~

There are lots of stringing and suede-ing tutorials, so when you're ready to fiddle with it you'll have a lot of help. It might be a good idea to have a stringing helper/partner, or it can be awkward handling dolls with strong/thick elastic. And work on a soft surface like a carpeted floor or neatly made bed (haha)

    10. I took two of my dolls (partially) apart this weekend and sueded two SDs, so I'm a little bit closer to examining Florens's stringing :). He's still too new though; I don't dare yet...

Here he is with his mother, Florie.

My own mother turns out to be absoluetly crazy about Florens. She's not particularly fond of my other dolls, but when she saw this boy, she promptly declared that she wanted to be his godmother. I didn't have the heart to tell her that my dolls are not substitute children and don't actually have godmothers. So, well, Florens acquired a godmother who even wants to buy him things :D.

    11. That is too funny!!! XD Florens looks adorable with his own mum, too!! ^_~

    12. I'm happy to see these dolls are getting more "popular" since the last time I looked them up!! =D

I'm a big fan of Gu Mi Jung's creations!
I already have a Zaoll Luv (And Muse head) plus Narsha girl Twins (basic and sleepy). I wanted to buy two Alexia girls and make the "older" twins but I decided to sell one of my Narsha and get Alexia to replace her. I really cannot wait to get one!

Though I am very surprised how chubby they are! Especially compared to Zaoll's body. It will be fun to find clothing that fits XD

I've seen some pictures of Alexia with very pretty shoes on here, where do you get them ?

I really cannot wait to get her! But I think I already wrote that.... xD

    13. [IMG][/IMG]

My beloved Alexia is finally dressed.
She's fast becoming one of my favorite muses!

    14. I know this may seem an odd request but would anyone share photos of the Alex boy body? I'm SOO interested in him, but can't find any photos of him without clothes (I like to see if he'd be difficult to dress and can usually tell by the body size). Could anyone share photos of Alex boy next to an Iplehouse JID boy or a comparable size doll? If anyone could I'd GREATLY appreciate it :)

oh, and is it just me or does the Alex boy look like Trevor Morgan (the kid from Jurassic Park 3, and the Patriot?)

    15. Does she have the default Dollmore faceup?

    16. Well, here is Florens, my Dolllmore Alex 'Hansel', all nekkid (and quite lovely too!).

I can throw in a photo of him next to a Doll Leaves MSD (left) and a Dollzone MSD (right), but I have no JID or similar-sized boys to compare...

If you ask me (but I'm not a doll clothing expert), he is quite difficult to dress because his lovely, chubby limbs aren't slim enough for MSD clothes and aren't long enough for SD clothes. Shoes, same thing: I adore his feet, but they are too broad for MSD shoes. Then again, I have recently discovered that the two pairs of very cute non-BJD shoes I own are a great fit for him.

gracefaerie, your Alexia looks totally wonderful and I certainly understand about her muse qualities :).

    17. Great! Thank you Sigune! He really is just adorable. They really weren't kidding when they said he was chubby! he is quite a unique doll though, I think I may just order him :). I wonder if you can buy the SD sized clothes and just hem the sleeves/pant legs?

    18. CemetaireContraire, I think that might be the way to go for trousers. I'm not sure about tops. As soon as the MSD clothes I have ordered get here, I'm going to try them on him. It's mostly his legs and his bum that are unusually chubby for an MSD :). So far I have only home-made MSD clothes. I tried my Dollzone MSD's tunic and couldn't get it over Alex's butt, but it was close enough to make me suspect that he can wear regular MSD shirts...

I was a bit worried about how Florens would fit in with my doll family. I loved his chubby little person as soon as I saw him, but... -Anyway: he may look a little bit odd next to slim mini's, but he is so very adorable and lovely and utterly beautiful that I really can't care about any oddities. He's not going anywhere, and he's still the younger brother of a 42 cm slim mini :P. You'll see, he'll charm you!

    19. Hi Nancy! Yes, Alexia's face-up and body-blushing are by Dollmore. I think she's perfect:)

    20. gave my Tuva (alexia) a new wig yesterday:
