Dollmore Banji What Clothes, Wigs and eyes fit?

Jan 26, 2006

    1. I forgot I had that pattern untill now , I bought it when I was collectinng Pippa -
if your talking about the old 70s paper pattern
...Im a compulsive pattern hoarder ..:)
the outfits came out big for Dawn /Pippa ,I never think they look like they are supposed too LOL
so they might swamp Elf ...Banji might fare a little better , but not a lot

you would have to do some alterations to the pattern ...but its better than nothing to work on :)

    2. On Ebay I picked up a few repro patterns for Tutti, a very slim flatchested little sister of Barbie that is no longer made. I have also picked up a couple of Dawn patterns but I just haven't had time to sew. I figured patterns would be useful as a starting point, even if they had to be adjusted.

BTW - Tutti shoes (at least the pair I got) look so much like they would find Banji but I could not get them on.

    3. Congrats on adopting a Banji - I have one of the white skin black haired girl Banjis, and I love her to bits!

Here are photos of my Banji with my friend's Hound, they look very cute together.

    4. :sumomo: Yippeee, my Banji Alice arrived today. She is so tiny and cute!!!!!!
Here are a couple of pics for anyone wanting to see what Alice looks like in the flesh, so to speak. I also appologise for the bad lighting and pics but my camera is rubbish:roll:

    5. Yes - I have a picture of one on Banji's foot in the "Clothes that Fit Banji" thread:

My Tiny Betsy shoe picture is on the second page of the thread, but here's the whole thread for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Some great info there.

And someone recently posted a photo of Banji in Tiny Betsy shoes with little lace-edged socks. Trying to find it... got it - redcountess's Valentina:

    6. I would like to know as I have 3 ED Tinies and they need clothes really bad!

      Thanks for any help

      Rin

    7. Some do fit, but rainman elfdolls are thinner than elfdoll Elly (banji). There is a sleeveless elfdoll dress that fit my Banji, but pants didn't fit Banji at all..too tight, and snap won't close. I would think Banji pant will be a bit loose on elfdoll, but Banji t-shirts or dresses may fit elfdoll.

    8. Banji is a larger in the body and legs , and slightly taller too , than the Elf

Im making some clothes that are cut to fit the Banji , that the Elf doll can wear

But clothes I make for the Elf at the momment wont fit ,Banji , so Im trying to do an outfit that will fit both , that wont swamp the Elfs slim body

      *_* *_* *_*

Im just off to bed right now , tommorow I will try on the modern repro- Dawn outfits I have , they are a little big on my Elf dolls ...but they may fit Daisy (my Banji)

    9. Just wanted to add the the Bratz Babies clothing fits the ED tinies as well. And at $4.50 a set, its a pretty good deal! =D

    10. Elfdolls can also wear a lot of Kelly clothes (Barbie's sister) but the pants become capris and the short dresses sometimes become tops.

      Carolyn

    11. I have lots of Kelly clothes but find them to be short and fat on my girls. But love those Kelly shoes!! :aheartbea

    12. I'm sorry if this has been asked or stated before! But I want to get my Banji some new eyes but I really don't want to get the wrong size!

I think I may have heard that they wear 6mm but I'm not sure at all.

If someone could please help me out I would be eternally grateful!

If this topic has already been asked and I'm just search inept please point me to it and delete this!

      ~Dottie

PS Any tips for changing his eyes??? His head is so tiny *_*

    13. For eye size, Dollmore says 6mm in the doll descriptions.

Here is something I wrote for someone else who is changing their Banji's eyes. If anyone has any suggestions to make it easier, let me know!

With tinies like Banji and Elfdoll, the separate top headcap is held on by the doll's body elastic. In the head, the elastic ends in a loop and the loop is hooked on a small resin hook inside the head cap.

To change the eyes on a tiny with a headcap loop you really need some small tools:

      1. very small hemostat (a locking grabber with scissor handles). I got mine on Ebay. I have also seen them at tool tables at flea markets. Mine are 4 1/2 or 5 inches long, one straight and one bent.
      2. a good small tweezer
      3. small plastic tools for scooping out and pressing the putty that holds the eyes in. I like to use little plastic things of various shapes made for cleaning between human teeth. You could also use a plastic tool for use on cuticles in manicures.

      ------------
Steps (sorry I have no pictures)

Through all steps be careful not to grab your doll by the face - finger oils can damage faceups.

      1. Remove Headcap
Have hemostat ready and open. Pull the doll's head up from its neck until about 1/2 inch of elastic shows between head and neck. Clamp the elastic carefully near the neck (now elastic in head is loose). Pull up headcap and using fingers or tweezers remove the elastic loop from the resin hook under headcap (may require tweezers).

You can remove the hemostat now if you are sure the elastic will stay in the head (like if it has a big knot).

      2. Remove Old Eyes
Carefully scoop out the eye putty and the eyes, saving all of the putty. Be careful not to poke hard around the eyeholes (resin may be thin there and easily chipped)

      3. Install New Eyes
This is the hardest part for me. I put a small long piece of putty below each eyehole inside - a small distance below the bottom edge of the eyehole. This will act like a shelf to hold the eye up. Drop in one eye and try to get it positioned correctly while adding more putty on the side of the eye and over the eye. Then do the other eye.

Now you look, and they are probably not evenly positioned. Carfeully use your fingers and small plastic tools to reposition the eyes (you may need to remove and replace some putty while doing this). When the eyes are correct, make sure the putty is pressed in well and hope the eyes don't move!

Another option I have never tried is to first stick the eye on a larger pancake shape of putty then stick the whole eye+putty in the head. That might work also.

Make sure there is no putty showing on the eyelids when looking at the doll's face. If there is, I cut a tiny pointy piece of stiff paper (like from an index card or junk mail) and lift off the putty with that, being careful not to scrape any eyelid paint.

      4. Replace the Headcap
Using fingers and tweezers, pull the elastic loop up a lot and use tweezers to hook it back over the resin hook in the headcap. This can also be difficult.

    14. are 1/12th dollhouse doll clothes too small for elf ellys?

    15. Haven't tried any Heidi Ott woman dollhouse doll clothes. I did buy some of this lady's 1:12 gowns because she says she uses her own special pattern that can be adjusted in fullness. But watch out for anything with sleeves too slim for Banji's arms.

      http://stores.ebay.com/Zenas-petite-boutique

I have not tried on the ones I bought because I was busy installing Banji's new legs, new eyes, etc. Plus I have trouble getting her little lace dress off. I really should take the black lace dress off the other - worried it might stain.

Re other dollhouse clothes - watch out - most of the others you see (esp. if on hanger or mannikin) do not open anywhere and are meant for display only.

      Carolyn

OK - I tried some of the Zena's Petite Boutique dresses on Banji.

Two had sleeve ends too tight for me to dare try to force her fragile little fingers through. This one had wide sleeves so I could get it on. It is too long on her and seems a bit loose in the bodice (the bodice was supposed to be blousey on this one, but I think it expects a bosom and/or wider shoulders). Fits well at the back neck snap and fine at the waist (back is open to below waist and tied with a riboon).

(sorry for the flash shot but it's night here)

Some other dollhouse clothes maker's items might fit her better, perhaps Heidi Ott.

    16. there is an older book on the market
I know its available in the UK , so should be in the US

Making DollsHouse Clothes by Sue Atkinson

I do think it is the Bible for miniature dolls house clothes
..(I have done it for 14 years )
some books I reccomend for my classes , and whan a customer ever askes me how can they learn to make tiny outfits ..this would be the book I reccomend

The outfits may be a little large for Elf dolls , but I think Banji they would fit much nicer
I should..but I havent ..tried them yet ..as I use my own patterns ,
but I think ,by looking at the book , they could work

there is also a miniature knitwere book by VENUS Dodge ..the name escapes me at the momment , again they could fit the Banji doll
I will find it out ad add that too

    17. Anything a banji can wear will be big on an elfdoll tiny. You have to watch out with Banji's since they have such wide splaying hands. The kelly stuff does fit both (a little small for Banji, and big on elfdolls). Banji's are actually closer in clothing size to an AGA Fairy or a Cumi, though a Banji's torso and legs are much longer, and there's still the problem with Banji's hands being so wide.

    18. Margarita, do you think they'd fit in the Cumi pants you make? Or are their legs even longer than Cumi?

Also, are the hands tied on, or hooked? Normally with tight sleeves, I just replace the hand with a paper clip or something and then put it back on after the sleeve is on...Just did that with Hiroko last night <G>.

    19. When I run home for lunch, I'll see how the Cumi pants fit her. The AGA/Cumi undies fit my banji beautifully (one more pattern not to worry about!) My patterns are close width wise (Banji's have a small waist in my pattern--hips are about the same.) I think the Cumi pants will be baggy and a little short, but should be ok.

The hands are actually strung through with the stringing elastic that goes through the arms...such thin little wrists! (Banji made it into work with me today.) So her arms will have to be completely unstrung, and possibly tiny jewelry hooks made out of jewelry eyepins could work. Haven't tried since I just make my sleeves a little wider to accomodate her wide hands and don't want to fuss with the stringing.

Edit: 1:25pm--the pants fit a little low on a banji, sorta loose, but the pants length is acceptable (falls to a little higher than mid foot)

    20. I've searched, but I haven't found an answer to this... does anyone know if Banji fits Blythe shoes..? I don't have a Blythe or a Banji (yet!), but I'm already hunting for clothes and shoes...

      thanks :)
