1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dolls and feminism

Dec 19, 2011

    1. I think Unidoll made a concept sketch of that but the shop closed down even before they started sculpting. Such a shame since I was looking forward for it.
The sculptor is probably not academically trained. The key to making a muscular female doll is subtlety and mastering flow. To do that, the artist uses the additive method rather than carving.

I myself love the toned muscled look on some female body builders (and I want that on myself.) It is good to note that women should have a good amount of fat over the muscles otherwise they will look starved. A lot of male dolls sold nowadays look starved. It's nice to clothe but not as nice to look at naked.

    2. I've never felt bad about myself when I see a doll, because I know they were made to be 'perfect'.
Humans are not perfect, so I accept myself for my flaws. I would never be able to feel jealous of a doll because I know she isn't real. It's not like boyfriend is going to steal my doll and say 'I'm leaving you because this doll is just so darn sexy'

I know this thread is over a year old, but these days there is a lot of different companies with unique faces and curvy body types. I don't really care how my doll looks under her clothes, I just want her to look cute. These dolls can be anything. We can have them be sexy, cute or just plain - that's what makes them interesting to me. Even though some dolls are sold to have large breasts, big lips, ect we can still change them to fit our tastes and what we are comfortable with. :)

    3. Oh god, not the "No curvy dolls" complaint again....For the last time people, it's hard to make THAT much resin poseable. It becomes a sculpting and engineering issue as opposed to a body image and feminist issue. Simple as that.

Personally, I want more female dolls with smaller breasts because I'd kill to be flat-chested myself. But otherwise, there is such a wide variety overall to be found in doll bodies that I have no major issue with what I can find. Need a girl with a wider torso? Found. Need a girl with a slim one? Found. Muscular boy? Ditto. Skinny boy? Yup, prefer those.

Granted I might have my major biases; for example, I hate big breasts and muscular male bodies in life and dolls.

    4. My EID girls have large breasts, but I ordered small breast on the SID... makes a difference to dress but I have a feeling I wish I'd had the small breast option - but I don't know I did when I got my EIDs

    5. One thing is no, these dolls have not altered my view on what defines feminity or made me feel different about me self (like thinking I won't look as good as a doll) it helps me just knowing that they aren't 'real' they are a portayal of an idea I have. And it's true there's a whole bunch of different versions of female bjd's out there to choose from. Personally I choose larger breasted bjd's because the smaller ones tend to look like children, and all the characters I have in mind are older.
