1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dolls at University?

Oct 22, 2022

    1. If you get along with your roommate and trust them, you could probably bring a smaller doll and just keep it hidden in the back of a dresser when you’re away. In a dorm, you generally don’t want to leave valuables unsecured, especially in a visible spot.

    2. When I was in college I kept my dolls at home until I left the dorms after my freshman year. They're far too precious to risk anything happening to them, so I waited until I was living alone and not around mischievous college freshman. Both of my roommates were fine, my second one especially being great, but still, you never know who may decide that they wanna try breaking into people's rooms to steal stuff.

    3. I left all my dolls at home as well, mainly because I already had so much stuff to move and I couldn't pick just one doll (it was before I began collecting BJDs, so the dolls were much smaller but in large quantities). I moved out from home and got a single room through a leadership position at the beginning of my junior year. Ended up moving most of the dolls there too and buying a cheap plastic shelf to display them. Everyone who visited my room liked the dolls.

But yeah, with BJDs it can get challenging due to their size and price. I've seen and heard too many roommate horror stories to trust people I haven't lived with for at least a semester. College can get overwhelming as well, so there's only so much time to interact with the doll. BUT it can be good to bring a smaller one (not sure which format you collect), one you can easily put away if you become worried about its safety
