Dolls going off the wishlist

Aug 18, 2009

    1. How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
That's a good question! The thing is that there are a lot of dolls in my wishlist, and they disappear after a half year. Of course, not all of them, but almost.

What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
At the first sight, I felt one thing about the doll, but after some time, I see them in a different way - I notice, that they have thing I don't like (for example big nose, etc.), or I am just bored with them. Of course, I like them, but not as much as when I would like to buy a doll.

Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore?
It have never happened with me yet, but I have got 'just' one doll, so I have got not so many experience. But when I decided to buy my first doll, she wasn't on my wishlist!:,D I just liked her, but after she arrived, I fell in love with her fortunately. :)

    2. How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
I don't have many dolls on my most wanted wishlist, they stay there, have only dropped one doll. But there's alot of dolls i see and like that end up on a maybe list and those dolls is going on and of often.

What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
Seeing the doll in person/owner photos because doll company photos is often not that good.
And finding one that fit my family and character better.

Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? Yes, happend one time, after seeing owner photos.

    3. How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
... Surprisingly, it's been slightly frequent (weekly to monthly.) However, there's usually at least one doll that continues to be on my wishlist for a circumstantial amount of time.

What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
Owner pictures, as well as careful planning and considerable thought. At first, I've prevented myself from putting any other doll on my wishlist because I figured that I probably would never be able to get them. However, now it's just whether or not I'm sure that I'll continue to like the doll even after a while.

Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?
Yeah... Kid Delf Pine ^^; Eventually, my tastes differed quite a lot from when I first had an interest in him. At first, I was solely concentrated on this certain character that I wanted in a BJD form, but now after looking back at the doll, I've realized that I just don't like the sculpt as much as I thought I did. (I've kind of strayed away from "anime"-like facial features to more realistic ones.)

    4. How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
Quite often. My wishlist is ever changing.

What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
Finding another doll that better suits the character I had in mind, seeing more owner pictures, becoming sold out or hard to find, price increase, etc.

Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?
This has happened a number of times. Mostly, it's just that I found a doll that I like that much more or I found a good deal.

    5. How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
Depends. Some of the dolls on my wishlist are sort of perma-fixed (I own AS Ty now, so for his character's twin brother I kinda have to get AS Rone) while others are more fluid.

What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
Finding another doll that better suits the character will definitely do it - I went thru 3 dolls for Renee before ordering DikaDoll Miao. Also, some of the dolls on my wish list aren't set in stone - they are ok but if one comes up as a limited (Ringdoll Kirin!) or on the DoA marketplace that will fit the character better (again, KIRIN) or just as well but I can get it NOW (marketplace dolls rather than preorders) then I will change.

Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?
Yes it has - I had tentatively had a DragonDoll Cheng on my wishlist for a certain character, but (thankfully before I ordered) I saw some owner pics - I'd looked & found a few when I originally put him on my list but these new ones were from a different angle & made me realize I should look a bit more. Then Kirin appeared on the horizon....

I try to be very thorough in my research before ordering a doll - because I do NOT want to get one that I don't like or that won't work for my character! That would be such a hassle :(

    6. How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
On - usually I have a general idea per character for mine. Then I usually set on that model.
Off - It usually happens when the face of the character in my mind has changed, or the fact I have found a deeper vibe with a different model.

I never truly delete a doll that I've had on my mind. I created a list of all the dolls I have planned over time. I've even had characters be absorbed into other characters, so for me it really isn't just the doll. :sweat

What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
This generally is because I don't want to be overwhelmed by my little family. I have three now and I just don't want to have "too many." Another factor is that I just have lost interest in the particular doll, but using my list I have stuff saved for something new. :)

Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?
Actually this hasn't happened to me. What has happened to me, however, was that I was actually saving for two dolls (MNF Chloe and LTF SDE) before I bought my SID Barahan. When I saw him, he was the spitting image of a character from one of my other stories, and from just looking at him, his own story branched off from the original.

    7. -How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
Not too often, but I don't revise it often. The last revision I did, most dolls were removed from the list.

-What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
Most of the dolls were MSDs, and I've decided that I'd prefer SD's because they're easier to deal with and sew for.

-Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?
Almost; but then I decided that the second doll wasn't worth it.

    8. -How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
-Every so often. It usually depends on whether I find a mold that fits a character best OR I decide to have my character created into a doll ^^; I typically don't just put a doll on my wishlist because of just how it looks, it has to feel/give off a sort of personality that feels like whatever character I roleplay.

-What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
typically when I find a better mold that suits the character or I decide to not make that character a doll.

-Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?
hm,not really ^^; When I was saving up for my doll,I really had my heart set on a msd chiwoo. There are times though when I am editing my wishlist and I look at the dolls again and sometimes I fall out of love with it. But I've never had that sort of problem. I'm usually very certain of whatever I'm saving up for!

    9. Dolls go off and on my list pretty often. I'd say I update my list once or twice a week (though sometimes I don't touch it for months), but after the first few months, it's usually the same dolls on rotation on and off my list.

So, by now that I've had a concrete list for over 2 years and have been in the hobby for more than 4, I've just kept all those dolls on the list permanently, though I have no intention of buying most of them right now. Occasionally a new doll may catch my interest, and I'll add it to the list, and most likely I'll take it off sometime, and I may put it back on again; I know it's a doll I'll want if I go through this a couple of times over a few months, and then it's likely that I'll keep it on there permanently.

Instead, there's 2 tiers to my list, one of dolls that I would like to buy within the next 2-3 years, and one that I might buy in the distant future, barring discontinuation or closing shops (which are always so sad to me).

    10. How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
Occasionally They Will, But For The Most Part I've Actually Managed To Keep The Same Dolls On My Wishlist But I Will Find Myself Wanting To Add A Doll More Often Than Taking On Off.
-What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
A Lot Will Do With Cost and Knowing That I Might Never Get A Chance To Get It Or Finding One That I Like Even Better. Also If I See Owner Pics That May Make Me Change My Mind Because We Know That Dolls Can Differ Greatly From Their Promo Pics To Real Life.

-Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this? Once, I Almost Got The Doll Then Something Happened And I just Didn't Feel That Pull To It. So I Just Didn't Go For It.

    11. How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist? Frequently, but when a doll does enter my wishlist, it's normally an interim impulse. My wishlist changes often.
What makes a doll go off your wishlist? Fiscal restriction, lack of access to the internet, simply telling myself the doll is unattainable, so I might as well just surrender that pipe dream...
Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? Nope, I've never been blessed with that luxury. It's a tad difficult for me to sustain a hobby when my restitution is perpetually meager. I'm pretty frugal, so my interest in BJDs is somewhat conflicting.
What was the reason for this? Inapplicable.

    12. How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
Hm...well usually they stay on for a few weeks or months.

-What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
Well for the most part dolls have gone off of my wishlist because of size. I look and look at certain dolls and than realize that I need to stick with a certain size to keep my doll family looking decent.

-Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?
Yes! I once start saving for a Fairyland SD. What made me decide against her was her size and her company. I love my Fairyland doll, but for the price I enjoy other dolls just as much!I still enjoy looking at owner pictures though!

    13. I currently have a good size wishlist. Some of the dolls I actually hope to buy in the future, and some are more of an 'idea' of what I want to get. All of them are in a good url based list that I can just click and see without having to look them all up one by one.

-How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?

Hmm... I've took a couple off that I just changed my mind on, but it doesn't happen too often. Loads go on all the time when I find new companies.

-What makes a doll go off your wishlist?

I do more research and find out that there's something I just really don't like about the doll.

-Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?

I'm still new to the hobby, so I haven't been at this stage yet. It could happen.

    14. -How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?

Not that often-- usually, if I like a doll enough to put it on my wishlist, I'm pretty enamoured.

-What makes a doll go off your wishlist?

Often, it is because I am able to learn more about the doll. Sometimes seeing owners pictures, or pictures of a blank head, will cure any infatuation I might have. Other times, it might be simply that some other doll catches my interest more strongly.

-Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?

Nope; if a doll makes it to my wishlist, I've probably already done a fair amount of information stalking.

    15. -How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
I usually add about a doll a month; or really any doll that catches my interest which I think I would like ends up there. They shuffle off the wishlist pretty quickly though.

-What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
Many reasons. Seeing photos of dolls from other owners and decided he or she won't fit my expectations (promotional photos on the doll site don't give enough perspective). Or I've found a better sculpt. If I can't find enough photos of the doll to get an idea of what his or her sculpt is like on different face-ups, I might drop her.

-Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?
Currently I have one in mind: I used to be saving for a DOD DOC Homme Kirill, but I dropped it in favour of a FL MNF Woosoo since from pictures I saw on flickr he looked more ideal than Kirill.

    16. How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
Well depending, they go on and off about 1 or 2 times every month. But I think I have a solid wish list now! :)

What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
If the doll doesn't fit the character I have for it or if it doesn't fit with my standards of what I find attractive over all in a doll they are taken off. :sweat

Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?
That hasn't happened to me yet (as I still don't have enough money to get my first doll) and I hope that it doesn't but if it does I'm sure there will be another doll that I will know for sure will please me.

    17. I usually aim for certain dolls once I like them and hardly get it off my wishlist. But unfortunately I hardly bring in the dolls on my wishlist, which I have no idea why!
Everyday the list is growing, but it never gets off, so I am already worrying about by bank account.

    18. Elfdoll SD Soah has gone on and off off my wishlist. I acually got one once but sold her. I kept adding her to my wishlist with the idea: ïf only she was MSD.

Now that there is a lovely doll Soah, big Soah will never return on my wishlist.

    19. -How often do dolls go on and off your wishlist?
Very rarely. usually if a doll goes on my wishlist i actually start saving for them or have some kind of time planned to get them.
-What makes a doll go off your wishlist?
Honestly, the ones i've removed were because owner photos showed me the aesthetic was different. Not bad, just not what the company showed them to be.
-Have you ever saved up for a doll and then decided (before you bought it) that you didn't like it as much anymore? What was the reason for this?
      Sort of.
I was saving up for one, but was just completely captivated by a new doll that had come out from the same company. so when the day came that i had enough, i searched all over for owner photos and i figured whichever one i loved the most i'd order now, and order the other one later.
In the end i went with the one i had originally wanted, and was really disappointed by the drastic difference in company/owner photos and removed the second doll from my wishlist all together.

    20. I've knocked 3 dolls off my 'list': Fairyland Roke and Chloe fullsets, because I finally found them to buy; and Dika's Chi, because I saw owner pics and disliked how he seems to look in person.
