Dolls of all colors.

Jul 4, 2012

    1. My first doll has Elfdoll's homme skin, which is a nice natural looking fleshtone. I didn't choose that for any particular reason other than I liked it. I purchased my first doll from his previous owner, so it wasn't as if I could choose really, but I liked his colour and still do.

Most of my dolls are NS. I chose that for them because it suits the character. One of my dolls is tan, and I'm ordering a second tan doll. I also have a blue doll. Again, I chose tan and blue for those particular dolls because it was appropriate for the characters. My wish list contains two green dolls, once again, the colour is chosen because it suits the character.

My favourite colour would have to be tan, but I like all the colours of my dolls. I also really love the ResinSoul sky blue resin :)

    2. My first dolls were elves. I wanted something that didn't seem normal, so I chose White Skin for them. Most of the time you can't see their ears, so I wanted them to look non-human as much as possible. WS doesn't look all that different from most NS, so it wasn't a big deal, just something I liked.

I also like a bit of a goth look or a vampire look sometimes, so I had other dolls in WS.

I have a Soom Sard MD in white because they offered that skin tone--and I already liked WS.

I have a Soom Heliot MD in white because he also came that way, but I like him being a white unicorn guy, so that worked!

I like fantasy dolls--so I have a blue and grey pair of Bambicrony elves. I think of the grey boy as a dark elf.

I've got a blue cat girl and another blue elf-like doll.

I have a grey Soom Euclase... He's one of the gods of the underworld, so grey makes sense.

I have a pink bunny. I won him as a prize, but I love that he's pink. :D

I have various colors of tan dolls. It's just nice to have some dolls that look tan after having so many pale dolls!

None of my doll are the colors they are because of a character. I don't tend to try and make my characters into dolls. I just create new characters for my dolls.

    3. So far I have one WS doll, one NS, one green and one blue. For the last two I picked the colors I thought looked really beautiful and would make a good color combination, and it played well into the story that they're supposed to be of a different species (they also have hooves, so that's not much of a stretch).

My next doll will be another WS, and I have even more planned in the future- I really like the airy, ethereal vibe it gives the dolls, and it works well because most of them are fantasy characters like vampires and such.

    4. I've only chosen natural skin for my dolls but I guess it's because those have the most owner pictures and I'd really like to know what I'm getting before I commit.

I don't have any problem with white resin but I don't really like it on most dolls I've seen. It kind of has an unfinished look about it, something I can't really explain. (Especially if the faceup is really light.. Either that or the lighting just eats it up.) Maybe if I see it in person I'd feel differently..

I'd really love to get a tan doll someday. There's just something so beautiful about tan skin and lighter colored hair. (white, especially)

Some of the grey I've seen is really nice, too.. I wouldn't mind looking into that but I'd want a very specific look for a character like that.

    5. For me, it's a case-by-case basis. If I'm working on putting a character into BJD-form, then I'd be using that as a guide of what skin color to go for/what would ultimately be appropriate for that particular character. Sometimes, it's a matter of being drawn to a certain skintone on a certain sculpt. That was how it was with my first boy; I just loved the white resin color.

    6. Most of my characters are generally fair-skinned but I'm doing a lay-a-way to get a lovely little pale purple doll. She's soo cute. I want to try and do her face up myself but I'm a little worried about making something that goes well with her skin tone

    7. So far all my dolls are white, I just love this skin colour! But I just ordered my first fantasy coloured doll in light blue resin and I also want dolls in light pink, light purple, maybe light blue, tan and grey. I'm just not interested in normal skin, no idea why^^

    8. I pick based on what the character is supposed to look like... or if the doll is an impulse buy instead of a planned character, I pick whichever skintone looks best on that particular doll in the promo photos.

    9. Most of my dolls are either normal or white, but I do have a few tan guys, a pink kitty, a blue guy, a dark brown guy, and a gray guy with bat wings. No rhyme or reason, really, I just got them because I thought they looked pretty. :)

    10. I usually have pre-determined characters for the dolls, and I buy dolls with the resin color that best matches how I picture them in my mind.

    11. I go with variety of colors.

Dolls inspire my characters so I chose the best skin color that will fit the sculpt (in my opinion)

so I have IH beach gold, real skin, (soon to come) light brown.

I am not a big fan of paper white dolls. but I liked one and she might join my gang to be a ghost ;)

I'd love to have all skin tones =)

    12. I don't plan any characters, so I just see what skin colour would suit the doll best in my opinion, nevermind any backgrounds until it's arrived.
I only have one tan doll and one in gray skin, though. I guess white, normal or pink skin just fit them more in my eyes. ^^

    13. So far all my dolls character plans are for dolls with skin tones on the regular human range.

    14. I usually just pick the colours that look good. Most of my planned dolls are normal skin.

    15. My current doll is Normal, however I'm really looking into getting a male with tanned skin. It's all about preference and the character of course. I don't really like the white skin, because to me it's too white. However I've seen some white skin dolls that look amazingly beautiful, so it's really down to personal preference, and what you want the doll to look like.

    16. Well, my first doll was white because I couldn't figure out what color I wanted but white is a good base for anything. After her I kind of just stuck with the paler theme, minus Cailean who is a light tan. I'm a little nervous of darker colors because of all the stories having to buff out mold release or the dye being noticeably streaky. There have been a few dolls that I've turned down because I wasn't sure I wanted to do that much work to fix any possible color issues. Maybe when I'm more comfortable with my skills.

    17. Almost all of my dolls are based on pre-existing OCs, so I get the skintone that best matches them. All of my dolls are a lighter normal skin or white skin because that is what fits the OCs I have shelled as dolls. I have an OC from a fantasy version of an African-ish continent who has very dark skin, but I have yet to find a doll that looks like her and comes in the right skin tone- I do not care for the "tan skin" of most companies.
Forgetting OCs and just going with what I like looking at, I guess I like extreme contrasts. I like paper white dolls and dark ebony dolls best, especially if they are together.

    18. I have no real reasoning behind color. Most of my dolls are NS, and I also have a WS. But those were the colors they came with for the most part. I recently ordered a sky blue Resinsoul, for no real reason other than I thought it was pretty. I came up with an outline of a character after the fact, to explain her appearance.

    19. I usually pick dolls based on facial expressions and paint job (face up or whatever it's called *not familiar with what everyone calls it*) but I usually prefer natural skin because it's not too bright and not too dark. But if I could, I'd buy Fairyland dolls in maybe tan or maybe even in crazy colors like blue...grey...maybe pink or purple? But Fairyland doesn't use those colors, and the companies that do...well...I'm not really a big fan of their dolls. :| I heard you can dye resin, but I'd be too afraid of messing up or I'd be afraid of it scratching off.

    20. I try to go by backstory. I have a greek character so I got the doll in realskin.
