1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dolls that are Hard to Find Pics of - older/rare dolls

Jul 6, 2013

    1. I don't think limited sculpts should count toward the hard-to-find. Because it seems obvious they would be. I mean, think about it. Some of these limiteds run anywhere from five to a couple hundred in the world. And how many owners are members of DOA, or bother to take and post pictures in the first place? It'd be a long shot to find a lot of pics of them, especially the limiteds with the smaller runs.

Anyway, I haven't had too much trouble finding pics of the sculpts I like. Then again, most of the sculpts I like come from the popular companies like Fairyland or Luts. Although, before I bought my Souldoll Kimmy, he was pretty difficult to find pics of, even before he was discontinued. And Souldoll Celestyn. I've only seen a few pics of him, too, before he was discontinued. Wish I'd had a chance to buy him before that happened.

    2. I can't find a lot of Leeke World Arien's :(

    3. Of the ones I own: Infinitidoll Aiden (standard release but super unpopular), Infinitidoll Kay dreaming (Event head, so might be a bit hard to find), Crobidoll Cinderella Tei (very rare - LE 5), Crobidoll WS Yujin (limited), and Little Monica Vampire Dyuke with Oscar face-up (LE 1, so obviously I won't find other pics of him).

I have pictures of all of them in my flickr, though the pictures aren't great by any standards.

    4. Of the dolls I own, aside from the company pics, I rarely see OD Tae (vampire or normal), Leekworld Khal vampire (limited anniversary doll), DZ Edward (standard sculpt still available) and Cherish Doll Chubby Demon (I'm not sure but he might've been a limited run; I bought him 3rd hand in the MP). Aside from my own pics, I've never seen another JeiDoll Ashford or AoD/LE Doll Adonis (he was limited to 38 worldwide, but I know I'm not the only one who bought him as I bought the second to last one that was available) posted anywhere.

    5. Dollfactory Dalsoo, specifically Senior Dalsoo. It makes me kind of sad because I love otters but I wanted to see more pictures before I dove in and bought one.

    6. A few of my crew are unusual sculpts, but I'm definitely guilty of that "not taking or posting many pictures of them"-thing...

I have a Volks F-33 and an Eden, as well as several of the later CP/Delf sculpts that were neither particularly popular when Luts sold them, nor carried over to the F60 line when Fairyland took over (Dambi, If, Jess and Edgar).

So, *why* don't I take and post more pictures of those guys, if I know they're so rarely seen? It's a combination of things... First there's the fact that I rarely take pictures of ANY of my dolls any more, rare or common. Then there's the feeling of "Why bother?" The unusual dolls that I own are unusual for a reason. They are/were all unpopular sculpts that a not-insignificant percentage of the community finds, to put it bluntly, very unattractive. They just don't match current style preferences, and so the odds of someone who isn't already an owner of one of those dolls suddenly taking an interest in them is realistically somewhere between slim and none. I would be wasting my time posting pictures of them, even in the spirit of "community service", because there just isn't any community interest there to be served.

    7. Are there any dolls that you own that you have had trouble finding other pictures for? I don't have trouble finding pictures, but I have trouble finding them for sale: Juri 10 and Juri 11. Beautiful dolls!
Do you have any pictures of these 2 dolls? No, sorry!
Where do you go to find pictures of dolls other than Flickr? Google images, Instagram and Tumblr! :)

    8. Blossom Doll Hyacinths. My goodness are they difficult to track down. I have one of their heads and I couldn't find any owner photos before buying it.

    9. I've never seen another Boding, Boding Sharmin which isn't unusual since only 10 were made. Also I see few pics old Unidolls, the UH limited line. And I never saw Miriam Young Witch & Lucy from Not Doll Lab. Another one is Souldoll Xii which ended up only being sold for a few weeks as Souldoll was changing the bodies & Xii's head was the only one that fit that intermediate doll.

Actually I seldom see pics of most of the dolls I have, I think because they are older dolls. Some were very popular when I bought them & there were lots of pics but with all the new dolls some of the classics have fallen out of favor.
