Dolls with emotion

Apr 21, 2015

    1. I love dolls with different expressions. Most of my dolls consist of neutral faces but I would love to own more grumpy and smirking faces. I love toothy and/or wide grins. I own an IOS Chaos head and I love him so much. Once he's done, my favorite doll might have to compete with him deciding who's my favorite.

    2. I do like some of the grumpy looking dolls like Dollshe Saints as well as most of the HZ boys. I obviously like smirks and slight smiles as I have both an IH Eric & Claude. I'm not a fan of crying dolls such as Ringdolls Mona although I can appreciate the sculpting. For photos I would prefer to play with angles etc.. rather than having a doll that just looks sad all the time.

    3. I love grumpy and really smiley dolls myself... I mean that's the reason I've modded some of my dolls and why IoS Chaos and Minifee Juri 2011 were two of my grail dolls! x3; I think expressions make dolls really interesting!

    4. I love the big maniacal grins on my Pipos Cheshire cats . Human dolls though I prefer more neutral or serene expressions.

    5. I have a weakness for dolls with very expressive faces. Whether it be grumpy, melancholic or sad, I LOVE them :). I get bored with dolls that are ''just'' very pretty, no matter how beautiful they are I always end up selling them!

    6. I absolutely agree! I prefer my doll with a light smile, neutral or a mysterious frown. I just bought a Dreaming Doll Little Elva Ryuna and I absolutely love the faint smile she shows. She has a beautiful sculpt. I do not have a picture of her at the moment, but she is definitely worth searching!

    7. I really like sad looking dolls, but I feel like they could be quite frustrating to work with if you're photographing them. You're pretty limited with what you can do with that one definitive emotion. I do prefer the faint smile most dolls have, but I can still appreciate a beautiful sad looking doll ;p

    8. I am very drawn to dolls with emotion, it's something about them, like they're trying to tell me something it really brings life to them :)

    9. I can appreciate a doll with a lot of expression. I've seen a faceup where the doll had tears in her eyes and she was incredibly beautiful! I would love to own a doll with expression like that. I've seen a Ringdoll with a legit bawling-eyes-out-weird-crying-face though. That was a little over the top lol other than that, dolls with expression just give them more character I think! (:

    10. Sad/angry dolls are one of those things where I love to see other people's and think they look really cool, but don't really want one myself. I like a neutral expression that can be interpreted different ways depending on the doll's pose. I'd probably only do it as a separate faceplate, so I could swap it out when I wasn't feeling it.

    11. For me, expressions can make the dolls look more alive. I do however prefer more subtle expressions than extreme ones. Some sculpts can seem to make two expressions depending on how you look at them. My Yuki(DOD Petsha) can either pout or smile depending on the angle you look at her which I really like. (She seems to pout more though when I don't pay attention to her ;p)

    12. When I read the title, the sculpt that first came to mind was Ringdoll Mona. While its a remarkable sculpt, I wouldn't want to own one. I personally love smiling dolls (without teeth showing) and neutral expressions :)

    13. My first doll has a sort of pouty/I'm better than you look which suits his personality and I love him for that. I don't think I would want a doll with strong emotions.

    14. I have a MNF mirwen and her brow ridge was exactly what I wanted when choosing her. I know people who had that sculpt think it is very gloomy expression but that really depends on the faceup. I wouldn't mod her face to look softer because out of all the MNF sculpts she looked the most versatile in expression possibilities to me.

    15. I love emotive dolls, DIM Miso is my grail. I also love Mona! They must be great to photograph

    16. I love grumpy dolls, they just makes me so happy because i feel like their emotions could change. Super happy dolls ae just kind of stange to me because no one keeps a huge smile on their face all the time.

    17. I love looking at expressive dolls, but I don't think I'd be able to own a sad looking one. My mood gets affected easily, so I'd prefer a neutral expression or positive one.

    18. I like MSDs and YOSDs that look sly, clever, or impish, so that's not usually a big change to the features, just a raised eyebrow or half-smile. I do plan to get a smiley doll like Hamin. I don't like pouty dolls much, maybe because it reminds me of some spoiled kids I've babysat over the years. The eyebrows raised in the center (think Disney Belle) kind of irk me, too. It looks to me as if the doll is apologetic or self-effacing, emotions I find it hard to identify with. I see way too many dolls with eyebrows painted too high, so the doll looks permanently surprised - like they've just been goosed!
@Serdte - I'm with you on the Mirwen sculpt. I think she'd make a dandy girl from a Lucas Cranach the Elder painting.

    19. I love dolls with parted lips that change expressions depending on how you tilt the head - especially if they can alternate between pensive and serene. :)

    20. I'm a huge sucker for dolls with extreme expressions. Most of my dolls I currently have have a somewhat extreme expression (Especially my Unoa roar) <3
